SUPPER CLUB - Friday, Dec 10
Posted: Fri Dec 10, 2021 3:38 am
Good morning,
We are 71* this morning at 0500 with 91% humidity. Going to mid-80's. This is just so wrong for 2 weeks before Christmas!
Yesterday was a full day. We suddenly decided to do laundry while we only had 2 loads instead of waiting until we had 4. Then I worked until 3pm finishing my Last LOTR Block. Finished! The last one! Hallelujah! Y'all are probably as glad as I am to hear The Last One! lol! Today I'll start putting the top together. We will also go to the grocery store for a few things. The kids are coming for supper tomorrow night and I hate braving the grocery store here on a weekend. So crowded. Tomorrow is big clean day. Time to vac, sweep, dust, and mop again.
I didn't make it to the big Zoom SS party last night because we were at Autumn's. Bill fixed her oven and then, to check his work, she popped a pan of stuffed manicotti in to bake. And insisted we stay for supper. Yum!
TINA - glad the Zoom meeting went so well last night. Sorry to miss it, but We'd already arranged our evening with Autumn based on their schedules. Sounds like your birthday supper at the Mexican restaurant was pretty tasty. Though I never have gotten beef in a salad. All the other meats, yes, but maybe it's because I'm just not much of a red meat eater.
JANA - I didn't know that 42 was the answer to everything in the universe. (from Hitchhiker's Guide to the Universe). I always thought 73 was the answer (from Sheldon Cooper of Big Bang Theory). lol! But yes, #42 is DONE. That didn't take long at all, did it!
Love your decorations - especially your choice of lights on your big tree!
I also love tamales. Have you ever made them? I gave it a try last summer and have the last of them in my trailer freezer for some night(s) when we're feeling Mexicany. They turned out fair. I will try it again one day. You already have those skinnies ready to sew down??! Speedy Gonzalez!
BECCA - I had to laugh when you said you have to hide cookies from CA. My Bill is the same way. Anything I bake is gone in a flash. Every time he passes the pantry he stops in for a cookie or two. He had the COSTCO sized bag of Halloween candy completely gone long before Halloween (I ate 3 pieces). I didn't bother buying any more. He'd have eaten that, too! He should be fat, but he's not.
IRISH - that is so funny about hiding the cookies in the basement and not noticing why the kids spent so much time down there! lol! You have snow?! And we'll be mid-80's today. Seems so wrong to wear my Christmas tee shirts with shorts! I think I'd be having a talk with my sister if I were you. That is, if you're speaking to her . . . I don't think I could come up with prizes that quickly! What is the party for? Family? Bingo? Community? Other? Did you finish the hoarder house? It doesn't feel like I've "whipped these blocks out". I started Aug 29 and except for 2 weeks off to make my brother's quilt, and 2 weeks to travel to TX, I've been at my machine an average of 4 or 5 hours a day every single day. Roughly 375 hours in making the blocks. Argghhh... I shouldn't have done that math!
LORI - I've never tried dying fabric before. What fabric did you start out with? Plain white? beige? Muslin?
VELDA - sending prayers, healing thoughts, and good vibrations with your today as you go for your cataract surgery. And thank you for being such a great Santa! I will get back to you later on that! Congrats on sticking to your healthy food plan. I rarely do that in restaurants. Bad me. I think homemade chili is even better the next day!
CAROL - oh, yes, I have no idea what things are in which parks. I've been to Disneyland twice in my life - 1984, 1988, and 2010. I think in '84 we also did Universal Studios and Knottsberry Farm. So happy you found your keys! Car keys nowadays are very expensive to replace. Bill always gets a copy made and then puts the "parent keys" in the safe for - well - safe keeping.
Since we were surprised to be invited to a manicotti supper at Aut's last night, we'll be having our chicken alfredo tonite. I think I'll add in saute'd onion, mushrooms, peas, bacon bits, parsley, and a few red pepper flakes. Bill loves these one-pot meals and they are so easy! We'll probably cook and eat outside.
What's cookin' in your brain to serve tonite?
