Good morning!

No rain! Always a good thing when you're starting out on a camping trip! We have a few hours before we hit the road, though. A few last minute small chores to check off, then I'm going to chiro at 9. Turns out my wrist issues aren't carpal tunnel after all, but simply overuse with repetitive movement. He worked on it at some length on Wed and gave me exercises to do. It's already improving! But I still have to wear my brace 24/7 until it's all healed. Sigh.

Autumn texted us yesterday and asked if we are coming to Texas for Christmas. We talked it over and decided to take that as an invitation. So, suddenly, we are in planning mode! We'll leave right after Thanksgiving with the grandsons. Not sure yet what day we'll be celebrating with the DGSs. They have family on their other side, too, that will probably have a bigger deal so we will work around that.

I am taking a break from LOTR to work on my Alaska Silhouette Sampler for Gene. I want his done before Christmas (and now I want it done before we go South!) and Drew said he doesn't care when LOTR gets done. So sewing priorities have shifted a bit here.

VELDA - I hope you are feeling better today. I know now everyone always thinks, "is it Covid?" Have you been tested? You are describing almost exactly what my nephew and his wife described when they had breakthrough cases of Covid.

JANA - and how is your patient today? Whenever Bill is sick, he just wants to be left alone. So he would be upstairs in bed (if he were at your house) and insist I go downstairs to sew. Though at our house, the sewing is upstairs and the bed is downstairs.

TINA - did you get the king top finished? (how big is it?) Is it going to be quilted with the same pattern as the queen? Is your quilter in Cruces? Sorry you got gypped on the rain. We have enough now we can share .

BECCA - Since you asked: No, this friend, Annette, is from before we were even married. Decades ago (1989) before I knew Bill or Tex or Annette, he was newly divorced and needed a place to stay. Annette was also newly divorced and needed some income so she rented Bill a room in her house. Annette had a boyfriend, Tex. There was a big New Year's Eve Celebration and Tex & Annette went and took Bill and Annette's ex-husband along. I happened to be there with a different person. We all struck up a conversation. A few days later, Annette and I happened to run into each other at a fabric store, the line to check out was long, and by the time we got out of the store, we were good friends. Long story short, she thought Bill and I would make a good couple and kind of manipulated a get-together. And so far, it's working out! Now, aren't you glad you asked?

So we are leaving later this morning. It's about a 3-1/2 hr drive, depending on traffic. We could go straight down I-5 and then cut west to the coast, but we generally prefer to take the slower, coastal route. Mileage is the same but driving is so much more pleasant on the back roads. As for supper, it will probably be burgers on the grill outside. Or it might be sliced kielbasa in Rice-a-Roni, peas or lima beans added in. Depends on when we arrive, if Bill gets his outdoor stove set up, and weather. We also have a Costco frozen lasagna, chicken, and pork chops, so now you have an idea of what meals we'll be having in the coming week.

Last time we were at this campground there was no internet or cell service unless we drove out of the park. So I might be able to check in on days we go adventuring, but other than that, I hope whoever gets here first will set the table for everyone!

We'll be home next Friday, Oct 8th.

Good morning from a chilly but going to be super, SW. Pa....Got into the low 40s last night and here's one from the dummy...Couldn't figure out why the furnace wouldn't come on but noticed, it was blinking, change batteries, so duh, I did....Well, on further checking this morning, the "lady" of the house had put the batteries in backwards......Now the house is nice and toasty and in another hour or so, won't need the furnace, lol......

Mary, hoping for a safe, super, duper trip...Your trips always sound great and might not be there physically, but sure do vision "where all we've been" and enjoy being along.....AND to go south for Christmas, that's great! Could there also be a big announcement or have I missed it? I cancelled my chiro appointment for today...I was there on Wed. and he really worked me over and I think I need more time in between, so will see him on Monday.....And, yep, I'm getting a roof....They didn't start until yesterday, might finish today and oh my, what a difference....But, these guys, both fairly young (well anyone not using a walker is young to me any more) but both are nicely built...I did tell them they had all the ladies in the neighborhood in a twitter and the 1 said, what till we take off our shirts...Well, I texted one of the gals and told her to have her dollars ready........But, I do notice a lot of traffic going by and slowing down and quite a few smiles.....Body might be old but the eyes are still enjoying the eye candy, so to speak.......

Hoping everyone has a good day...I need to get moving and pick up a few groceries and an RX...Yesterday, my sister stopped over and we had to stop at the PO, then we took a big box of what looked like silver to Treasure Hunt or whatever it's called but left empty handed, no real silver, then we went to a little diner for lunch and then to a huge family run farm for goodies...Since Kathy isn't going to be canning this year, making the relish falls on me so I needed to get the green tomatoes...Now hopefully, I can find the lids for the jars....After the farm, we went exploring, finding old roads and hoping they brought us out somewhere besides a cow path...But, the day was great, think it helped my sister take her mind of the drama she's going through......

As for dinner, I'm thinking we'll be playing cards so that means, we order pizza and salads....I'm getting used to this not cooking much, liking it better and better.....

Today is officially the start of the new eagle season...The cameras are up and running in the Ft. Myers nest and I have noticed, in that nest and the nests up here, the eagles are all back together, already mating and getting their homes ready for their families......

You all have a great rest of the day........

Happy eating.................

Hi everyone! Yes, our friends convinced us to go get tested. Yes, we were both positive. Health Department called us today and said 10 day quarantine. But we were already doing that. We will both be clear on 10th.
Had to reschedule my appointment with my heart doctor until November. He only comes once a month to our small town for appointments. Just glad we don't have to drive long distance for follow up appointments.
I felt well enough to cook and made potato soup. Yesterday we picked up a couple of chicken nuggets meals from Mc D's. Neither of us could finish, so I turn on the oven to reheat. Wasn't too bad. French fries turned out crunchy, but much better than throwing out food.
Our Walmart does have service to order on line and pick up at the store, but Super Walmart in Mattoon ( 27 miles). So, we might have to do that. ??? Won't be out of everything, but milk and bread is on my list every week. My friend offered to go for me, too. I will think about that.
Maryz, I sent your email address to Jacquie (shelly322002) across the "pond". Saw she asked for it on Halloween Swap.

Oh, Vel - iam so sorry to hear of your test. Watch yourself carefully.

Well, the nurse is down, as well as the patient and Sarah. We are muddling along. There will be nothing cookeing in this house . There is enough food storage in the way of fat on me, so I can go without food!

This message has been disinfected m
Hugs, at a long distance,
Jana
