Supper Club. Tues Aug 10

Post by purrfect-lady » Tue Aug 10, 2021 6:28 am

Good morning from Maryhill

We are at St Park here. The Columbia river is maybe 100 feet from us with Oregon right on the other side. It’s going to be 99° today with 108 predicted for the next two days. Wish when we made these plans and reservations 2 months ago we would have had a forecast. We may go home early. Neither my sis nor I tolerate heat well.

It was long day yesterday, traveling. My SIL blew us off but we did visit with her daughters, my nieces. Love them! This park is beautiful, green, and filled with huge shade trees. But the big tree between our two sites is dying and has no leaves. :-/. Therefore no shade here. We need fuel so we’ll cross the river into The Dalles today. Allan and Tina used to live there and managed a best Western motel. They always like to see all the changes in town. One being their motel is gone.

Autumn received pinky. I think I will post a picture over in photos love how she has displayed it in her home. 😹

Velda, excitement is growing! Love those lights. I’ve never seen any quite like those

Jana, does your Yoobido make noise? I was wondering if it vacuums at night while you sleep or if you want to be awake and keep an eye on it. Hope those explosions weren’t anything serious. We live close to Fort Lewis and hear explosions all the time from their war games.

Tina, I bet your lights look pretty too. My grandfather died in 1940 but I am told his hobby was grafting. He would graft a Small limb from one kind of Apple onto a different tree. We had some apple trees on our farm growing up and I remember one tree that was part green apples and part red. I think my dad was testing out his father‘s hobby.

My sister says she has chili in the freezer and is thawing it for tonight. With temps for 100° I think I would prefer salad for dinner but chili is what we’re having

Keep cool!

Good morning!
Thunder woke me up a couple times last night, they were loud thunder boomers!! I guess it drizzled a little last night and was still at 7 when I let the dogs out. We didn't even have to close any windows.
Mary, sorry your SIL blew you off. Glad you got a visit in with your nieces though ❤
I bet Autumn loved receiving Pinky, what a wonderful surprise it must've been ❤❤
I can't imagine being between 2 such rivers and being 100° and over! That would be like a sauna!! I don't do heat well either and stay in when in gets up in the 90's as much as possible.
The boys stayed home, Jazmyne stayed the night. I think I'll have her help me knock out some uglies this morning while it's cool and then we may watch a movie and I'll work on my swap blocks today too.
I don't know about Jana's robot vac but mine does make some noise and mine does better with light in rooms. But mine isn't the mapping one, it just randomly wonders. I love how it cleans under my bed and entertainment center! It does a pretty good job everywhere really.
That's cool about your 2 in 1 apple tree!
Chili in that heat, not for me either 🥵
I may make a chicken salad thing that I make, it's grilled chicken on top of a big green salad with all kinds of other veggies added....I just need to see if I have everything first.

Good hazy, still, morning,

A bit of wind lessened the haze a tiny bit. I can barely make out the outline of my mountains across the valley. Earlier las week, I wondered if they were still there. We could barely see the church out my backyard.

Mary - Yoohoodi doesn't make a whole lot of noise. But he is afraid of the dark. In the instructions, they say leave a light on if you run it at night. The biggest noise is when Yoohoodi empties the dust and dirt into the base collector. We are still getting the boundaries in place. I think that Scotty would have a problem with this vac at your house. Michael says it looks like a crab running around on the floor. But one big advantage of Yoohoodi is it picks up dog and cat hair and doesn't get all that hair stuck in the brushes- it self cleans!

Tina - Jaz is a great helper! Sarah is learning how to graft and prune her fruit trees she planted a couple of years ago. In fact, just this week she got 4 peaches, her first, off that peach tree.

Ethan started school yesterday and was very excited. He is in a combined class of 4th, 5th and 6th. He is in 4th grade and taller than most of the 6th graders! He will stay with this teacher until he finishes 6th grade. This is the teacher that Sandee wanted for Ethan and we were lucky enough to get her. Ethan will be spoiled at this school. The lunch program has a real live, trained chef that cooks from scratch hot lunches every day. Because of COVID funding in this school, Ethan's lunches are paid for by this funding. Sarah says he will eat better than at home! It's a small school with maybe 500 students, from kindergarten through 9th grade. Sandee is the head of the Special Ed department , and she teaches middle school there. Ethan is Aunt Sandee's favorite, and spoils him almost as much as I do.

Dinner- we went out and got a hamburger last night, so tonight willbe banned and a copycat recipe for Alfredo sauce from Olive Garden. A really simple recipe. Might even make fresh pasta, it tastes so much better. Fresh pasta is easy too.

Do fun things!
Hugs,
Jana

Sorry, I am late to the table again. DH and I helped at our church this morning. Sorting donated goods, and pricing. Some people just donate their junk! Boxes of unsorted stuff, dusty, dirty, out dated things like land line phone stuff??? Grrrr! It seemed like a nightmare. Many hands and helpers and we accomplished a lot. Only work until noon. They meet again tomorrow to finish. We will go back Thursday to help with the sale.
We ate lunch at DQ, so tonight, we are doing just cold meat sandwiches and chips.
Nothing else to chat about.
HUGS, 💕 Vel
