SUPPER CLUB - Fourth of July

Good morning and Happy Fourth! Aren't we blessed to be living here in the United States of America! I am so grateful for this huge blessing!

Yesterday we spent all day in the yard - 9am to 3pm. Did some cleaning, digging, trimming, planting. Ran to HD for flowers (shasta daisies) and planted them in a barren area. I love daisies. The happiest of all flowers. I also got two 1/2 gal pots of pinks (dianthus). I planted them in some pots and put them on the deck. They smell so wonderfully spicy though I planted them in mulchy compost soil - the kind that really stinks for a few days. it makes for quite a mixture of scents wafting around the deck.

Today's plan is to hopefully finish the yard work. We have lots of company coming in their RV's in the next few weeks and in summer, most of our entertaining is in the yard, so it's like cleaning house before company. Jay & Jackie from Bend, OR and Bob & Betsy from La Grande, OR will both be here JULY 19 for few nights. It's a fluke they are coming at same time, but they are all friends, too, so it will be a good chance to catch up with everyone. Then my sis and DBIL from CO are coming first week of August for two weeks. And Autumn mentioned that she and Antonio MAY make a trip home in early Aug, too, though I haven't heard any more about that, so I'm guessing it won't happen.

I haven't been in my sewing room since Thursday. Maybe tomorrow . . . I'm still trying to make a sample Christmas block and see how it turns out. I'm combining parts from two different patterns. Trying to see if it will work. I've set my GD3 project to the side of my work table for the time being while I figure out my swap block. My Star Bright is at the other side of my work table. :D And my living room floor is now littered with piles of donated blocks for the comfort quilts that Tina sent me. I will be trimming them all and sewing them together into tops so we are ready when we need them for any of our group to finish them up. So, while I had nothing going at all a month ago, now I am happily swamped with sewing projects!

LORI - I think it took me a week to cut out my GD3. But it was too hot to turn on the iron to sew anyway, so I just put on my audio book and started cutting. Slow going but I kind of got into a zen state. It was really enjoyable. Ya can't hurry Jen Kingwell!

JANA - well, did they get there???

Yesterday we ended up with the alfredo for supper. It seemed easiest. We were both tired. I just used a jar'd sauce and didn't even doctor it up. Tonite, I think we'll go with a classic Fourth of July supper - BBQ'd burgers and potato salad. We're to get to 77* and sunny today so it will be purrfect out on the deck this evening.

I hope your Fourth is purrfect, too

Good morning!
Happy 4th of July to you all! πŸŽ†πŸŽ‡
Mary, I love Shasta Daisy's too! Daisy's were my flowers for my wedding... daisy's and carnations ❀❀ your yard sounds Better Homes and Gardens ready! Wow, you have a lot of company coming! Enjoy! I hope Autumn and Antonio do go in August!
Today is laundry day, my hamper is overflowing! I've been so busy the past few days and didn't have time but today Frankie will be mowing outside so it's a good time for me to get that done inside.
Dad ate here last night, we were late getting back from Cruces and I was exhausted and my sciatic nerve was a killer so Frankie cooked burgers on the grill and we had cottage cheese and chips to go with them, me and Dad don't use bread so it was all easy and yummy.
Tonight it's just going to be Frankie and me so we're gonna get a pizza and then go watch the fireworks. We're taking care of Holly's dogs, goats, chickens, dove, quail and bunny while they're gone (they went to Scottsdale AZ for the weekend) we have to make sure everyone is put up before dark tonight so they don't get scared with the fireworks. It's a little zoo over there. LOL
Easton video chatted with me yesterday, he wanted me to see every nook and cranny of his hotel room LOL what a kid ❀❀
You all enjoy your 4th, however you celebrate! Let freedom ring! We live in the best country in the world, even with a few flaws.... I'm so grateful! πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

Sounds like you and Bill have been busy, busy, busy!! Shasta daisies are so beautiful!
Not much patriotic going on here. There is fireworks down by the lake tonight, but will be too hot for me. Rather just stay home and watch on TV.
Going to grill chicken in foil packets tonight.
Haven't done this before, so hope my marinade is tasty. I just made it up from this and that????
Going to do potatoes separately.
I will report how it comes out.
Doing Smoky Link dogs and chips for lunch.
Hope all is great for everyone!

Good morning!

Vel - you can do both the potatoes and chicken together. Slice the potatoes on the thinner side - they cook and keep the chicken from burning in the foil packet. Just probe temp the chicken to make sure it's done. Carrots and onions are really good 8n the packet as well.

Here at church, so this is short. Dinner -iI have a pot roast and Sandee is doing a BBQ, so plenty to eat here then watch fireworks from my backyard.

Hugs,
Jana

Thanks, Jana, I will try it
I will spray foil and then layer carrots and potatoes first and lay chicken on top?
As I said, I will report tomorrow how it goes. Don't have fresh onion home, so will use dried onion chips. They work very well in a pinch.

Yes, just layer it that way. You can put it any way you way and add extra marinade liquid too. I did many of these foil dinners, being a mom of boy scouts.

Happy Independence day! We took the boys to the park for their Sunday walk. Now they are napping.

Mary, I do a little yard work here and there. Bill does the mowing and has been keeping up the roses lately as well. I work on the planters in the back yard.

Jana, the packets sound yummy. I'll have to try that as well.

Tina, kids are so funny when they go some place new. It's such an adventure. Glad Easton shared his room with you.

I think I'll have Bill pick up some steaks and we'll grill before the crazy fireworks start. Last year was insane. 4 1/2 hours of non stop explosions'. We had some last night, and Wrigley was very upset. Jack just goes to sleep. Molly hides under the bed. We'll close up the house about 7 and turn up the TV to knock down some of the noise.

Have a lovely day.
