Good morning,
Another beautiful day in now cool PNW. Birds are singing, but so far no owls, though there was a lot of hooting going on through the night. And then a lot of barking. If it hadn't kept waking me up, it would have been funny to listen to the owls answering Scottie's angry barks. I think they were laughing at him.
With all the garbage at Vicki's place, she is overrun with mice and rats, which the owls love, I'm sure. So we have a lot of them in the woods on our combined 5 acres. And when we walked yesterday, we ran into 2 coyotes in the neighborhood across the road from us (who also like mice and rats). That was surprising, though we'd been warned a coyote was seen in our area. Some aspects of living in nature are neat. Some not so much.
VELDA - that salad mix you described yesterday sounded delicious. I LOVE kohlrabi. My parents grew them in their garden and, after peeling them, we ate them like apples. Yum! I'm going to see if I can find something like that next shopping trip.
TINA - yes, I did hear the whoosh of the owl's wings as he swooped by me. Neat! Someday I hope Holly wakes up and dumps that waste of skin husband! Sorry. Just had to say that. I have started looking at Christmas block ideas... It's going to be fun to get our my Christmas fabrics again!
JANA - Yay for Daniel coming! Last I heard the trip was perhaps on hold due to Keri's dad's health. Is Karlie about 4 yrs old now? Your grands all seem to grow twice as fast as regular kids so I lose track. She will LOVE new clothes for her doll. I hope she brings the doll for 'fittings'.
Yesterday Bill was gone all day helping Tex with a project so I was in my sewing room and playing with my toys.
It was good to get in front of my sewing machine again! And I had a nice dinner waiting for him when he got home at 6pm. Just had to toss the marinated chicken on the grill. We have extra chicken for another meal (chicken fried rice?
) but tonite we've been invited to friends for "a lazy dinner and a glass of wine" so I'm saving that extra chicken for another day. Not sure what a lazy dinner might be, but I told Susie it couldn't get any lazier than us picking up a pizza on our way. she was still deciding.
What's your favorite lazy meal?

I always like Pizza when I don't want to cook.
But any quick meal like hot dogs, cold ham n cheese sandwiches, or soup and salad.
Tonite is left overs ( sloppy joes and potato salad) . That's pretty lazy too.
Dick lifted my machine onto our table and I pieced the fabrics I found in my storage clean-up yesterday. Now I have 3 backs to drop off at church on Sunday for our quilt group.
Thinking of things to donate to annual rummage sale put on by the youth of our church. Have to wait until August 8th to deliver to church, so until then, I don't know where to put things, so I am making a list so I don't forget something when we get ready to deliver.
Maryz, you must hate having such an abundance of mice and rats around. Must be hard to protect your own buildings.
What a bummer to have a neighbor like Vicki.
Almost lunch time. Guess we will do cold sandwiches today.
Have a great afternoon.

Good morning!
Hoping it's Daniel Day. I haven't heard if he is on his way today, or tomorrow. All depends on Kari, if she has everything ready. Haven't heard any more on her Dad's eye cancer surgery. Her dad is not a good patient and sends everyone away as he recovers.
Sarah, Sandee and Ethan are going to the big Waterpark across the valley. Ethan will have a blast.
I am putting the final touches on the house for company. Helping Michael clean and find homes for a bunch of his stuff. That stuff will be 8n Daniel's way. If I had my way, I would pitch it, but I will be good. Michael is a saver, not too bad, but enough to drive me batty. But then again, I save fabric, so I guess we're even. LOL!
Dinner - found some yummy corn on the cob, so will add a salad and that will be dinner. A bit odd, but tasty. Also picked up a pot roast for Sunday's dinner. As I did the stock up the house with kid friendly food, I found all of Karlie's favorites. A good start to spoiling her.
Mary - scary at your house! We have all kinds of wildlife here too. Our side of town has moved out farther into the wild areas near the canyons and mountains. We add one more to your list, cougars. Sarah has seen a cougar's paw prints in her back yard, in the mud after a rainstorm. Her kitties are in the house at dark.
Vel - the fun is beginning! Once you have checked and emptied a space, recheck and put a post it on the space. I found that useful when we moved, but even with that, I still missed a couple of things.
Time to get my finishing for company done,
Hugs,
Jana

Just had to stop and reply. Jana, I have been sorting and straightening up closets. However we don't get possession until Aug 16. That's quite aways off yet. I am getting anxious to move. It's now the wait and see if we find someone to buy our 5th wheel.
And Chickie. Oh such good news about Becca and you. So happy to hear if your progress, too.

Hi everyone! I was here earlier and thought I posted, guess not oops.
Mary, we feel the same way about Adam. We think she doesn't want to chance him having joint custody of the kids, none of us trust him alone with them..... that's why I watch the kids even when he's home.
Vel, getting things ready for the rummage sale must be tricky when you can't actually put them into a box to wait..... over a month away! If you sell your rv before closing where will you stay?
Jana, Frankie is a saver too.....I get him to take a load to the dump about once a year though. Buying all this kid food must be a Grandma thing huh LOL
So happy to hear the updates on Becca and Chickie. If anyone needs her home or the rehab address, Mary, Chickie and I have it. I sure hope she gets better fast ❤❤
I'm not sure about supper.... my freezer is getting pretty empty these days, which is what I'm going for so I can have it all cleaned out.

Mary, the owls probably have a feast at Vicki's. Maybe someday she'll get the help she needs and next door can be a nice place again.
Tina, glad you are there for the kiddo's. What a shame their father can't be bothered with them. They are probably happy to be at grandmas anyway.
Velda, It sounds like you are ready for a move. Hope you sell the 5th wheel soon.
Jana, Yay...for having your son home. It's always a joy to have our kids around.
Well I start cutting out the Jen Kingwell pattern out of scraps. It's a lot of little pieces. This could take a while. I have a big container of scraps to pull from. I also pulled fabric for a blue and white log cabin.
I'll use the Accuquilt to cut those out. I want to make it a queen size.
Dinner is potatoes with onion on the grill and teriyaki chicken grilled as well.
Have a lovely evening.
