SUPPER CLUB - Saturday, March 20th

Good rainy morning!
Today is my brother's 86th birthday. Happy Birthday, Gene! He just got home from a 500-mile run in his semi. He is like the Energizer Bunny - just keeps going and going and going.
Yesterday got filled up. I spent some time poring over recipes and lists, looking for good ideas for camp cooking. We always hope for weather good enough to cook outside on Bill's stove. But at the ocean in March, I go prepared with easy to fix meals in case we have to move inside. So, while we may be gone only 5 nights, I take about 7 nights of meals. I also did a big grocery shopping trip and all the laundry. And while I was out, I hit the Goodwill and scored some real bargains. When I got home, I made 5 dozen cookies for the trailer freezer and then Gus & Claudia came over with pizza! Yay, Gus & Claudia!
Today I'll make final decisions about camp meals and start packing it all out to the trailer. And clothes. I'm not sure what else to do. I packed my crazy quilt scraps and I need my carryer-outer to haul my travel machine out to the trailer. I keep it in the house through the winter because of dampness, but after this trip it will stay in the trailer for the summer.
TINA - so are you done now? You've been raising heck in those rooms and I'm thinking the spiders have had just about enough upheaval! The above-mentioned Gus & Claudia just got back from a short trip to El Paso to visit their brand new great grandson. They made a side trip to Las Cruces and went to a Mexican restaurant their DD had visited many years ago. It was still there and still excellent, but they couldn't remember the name of it. They had to eat at outside table.
BECCA - good to hear your BP is staying in range. I love my walk. Since my walking buddy's dog is old and loves to stop and sniff EVERYTHING, it's slow going these days, but at least I'm out in the fresh air. I should take a second walk later in the day with Bill for more exercise. Maybe as weather improves . . . Lots of family doin's at your house! Bet CA is loving watching it all happen. Have you seen Levi's new house? Have they moved in yet? Now they are the ones with the new little twins, right? And how are they doing? Walking yet?
MARY ROSE - so how did that appt go yesterday? And I'm excited for your quilt and it's borders and label. It is going to be amazing! How big is this X-st pic going to be? I see you moved it to 18-count.
LORI - I looked but didn't see you at the grocery store yesterday! My day also held chores that had been put off not to mention laundry. When I was walking yesterday and fighting Mr. Scott who saw a squirrel, I was thinking of you with Jack and Wrigley. Scottie is only 36 pounds but he is STRONG! Do you walk your boys together or one at a time?
I think I have some leftover chili in the freezer that I might pull out and reheat on the wood stove downstairs while we watch the news. And we might split a baked potato to put under that chili. I will see what B is in the mood for.
How is it going in your kitchen?
