SUPPER CLUB - Mar 17, ST PATRICK'S DAY!

Post by purrfect-lady » Wed Mar 17, 2021 6:58 am

Top of the mornin' to ya! And if you're not wearing green (I am!), consider yourself electronically pinched! I even wore my shamrock nightie. I wanted no sneaky pinching going on after midnight!

Bill is doing great. He's a good patient and it was kind of fun to have someone to really take care of for a day or two. But except for slight soreness, he's back to normal. We'll be seeing his sister, Becky, March 26 and they can sit and compare notes on their procedures, while her hubby, Ed, and I can sit back, drink a beer, and listen.

My DWR is coming down the home stretch. I decided I want to have the top finished by end of this week. I plan to take my machine in Friday or Saturday for a spa treatment while we go camping next week. And I hate to leave a project half done. It always takes me a while to hit my stride again, so I really try to finish things up. I'll probably take my travel machine and a more relaxing scrap project camping. Weather at the ocean in March isn't really conducive to sitting around outside.

IRISH - I know YOU are celebrating today! Your Kathy sounds like an awesome young lady!! And I do so hope you can make a trip to the PNW. Our trailer is our guest cottage and we've had a lot of guests take advantage of that while they take day trips to Seattle, Rainier, St. Helens, etc. But we just might be able to meet up with you someplace, too. Traditionally our summer weather doesn't start until after July 4th. Mother Nature's little joke on us. So, just a head's up . . .

BECCA - sorry Denise and Mark's trip is delayed but at least it isn't cancelled. And anticipation is fun, too. Nice they or Marty will be able to fix that lock. I know how frustrating it was for my brother when he lost the dexterity in his hands and could no longer do small simple tasks.

TINA - how is the closet coming along? Hope that plastic keeps the silt at bay. And remember, as long as it's Lent, it's not forbidden!

JANA - poor Sarah. My SIL had a deviated septum which caused him a lot of problems, but after he had that fixed, he's been fine. And Becca mentioned Trigeminal Neuralgia. My mom had that and it caused her many sleepless nights. I sure hope they can fix your Sarah up soon! And what new skinnies did you get?

LORI - well, maybe we're long lost cousins! Some of my mom's aunts/uncles (her dad was eldest of 13) migrated to CA, though mostly in the Bay Area. But one might have slipped further south. Any McDonoughs in your heritage?

I'm not sure about supper yet. I'd love Irish nachos but not sure Bill can handle them yet. Maybe just mashed potatoes (colored green, of course!) and gravy. I have fresh asparagus in the fridge but not sure about that either. We'll see come supper time what he feels like.

Enjoy your St. Pat's Day!!

Top 'O morning!

Wer'e all Irish today. Need to find something green. Dinner will be corned beef, no cabbage. We love corned beef in this house. And turkey pastrami, and ground turkey and fish! I am the rebel I guess.

The roast chicken I did last night was a hit with Michael. He really liked it. The pan drippings on the roasted red potatoes was especially yummy.

Mary - you are finishing that top quick, as per you! Now for the million dollar question, are you going to use the computer to quilt it, with a usual DWR quilting design in the big solid spaces? Or something else? Glad Bill is doing so well today.

Not much here. Called the furniture company yesterday. It is on the truck, still on it's way, anyday now. Supposed to be about a 10 day transit from Indiana to here and it left Indiana on the 5th. That is now 12 days! Hurry hurry, hurry !

Batt Cave is semi tamed and in order. Our handyman stopped by and got the measurements he needed for the final step in getting Ruby into her place on the island. I had to be careful and not use "farm words" with those two - Michael and Tim - the handyman. There was a piece from the old cabinet that they thought "had" to be replicated and kept trying to measure to put it in the island space. It was not necessary, it was a piece made specifically for the old cabinet, to make any machine fit that generic space. Not needed for the island or Ruby. Finally, they listened to me, no "farm words" needed. Tim will be back in a few days to make the cut and install the elevator. He also brought a sample of ceiling tiles we can use in the Batt Cave. It is a form of a drop ceiling, but we won't lose hed room down there. This ceiling system sits flush on the joists. We are trying to stay as close to a 8 ft height as we can. We actually only have 7ft 9 inches now, so we don't want to lower that. This new system would only lose us about a inch. But it is quite expensive. So we are thinking.. Sheetrock won't work,, one because of weight, , the other Michael wants ready access to the pipes and electrical.

Well, time to get going,

Stay Safe,
Hugs,
Jana

Well, today will be corned beef and cabbage. I have been wanting some for a while now, so I am off to get it started. I love making sandwiches from the leftovers as well, especially on rye bread.

Prayers for Kathy, Chickie, and Judi/Ken.

Mary, I was born in San Francisco. We moved south when I was 1. I'll have to check out my Ancestry page. My bio mothers name is Doherty. The spelling was changed when they came to America. So glad Bill is healing quickly. Must be because he received such good post op care.

Sewing again with friends today.

One of the ladies is making Irish nachos for dinner.

Have a lovely day.[/color}

Happy St. Paddy's Day from a very sunny, warm, SW. Pa.......This is really been a day!

Mary, happy to hear Bill is doing well....Can't keep a good man down, right......And, thank you so much for the invitation....I really, really want to come that way but finding time when Kathy is home might be a problem....They have trips planned every month...Would you believe, they are even going back to Ireland and not taking me??????

I had made an appointment to take Baby Girl to the beauty shop, just because Kathy was here and she could carry the carrier..Bright and early, we left, dropped off Baby and went on to go through our list, which even included stopping at my old Post Office...We got half way through and they called that Baby was done so back to the groomers...While I was inside paying, the car phone rang and it was someone telling me to get back to Greensburg for my shot (and hurry)....Here I am in 2 long sleeved shirts and on the other side of the county...But, poor Baby thought she was going home but ended up on another ride...I had to wait in line about an hour but it was inside a fire hall and everyone in line was so nice and friendly, the time went fast....So, here we are back home, now I need to get with it and get things ready for tonight.......
Our dinner tonight will be Shepard's Pie and salad and also, Swiss steak, mashed spuds and a veggie....Also baking a pumpkin pie with gluten free crust for DGS, Dan's, girlfriend....Tomorrow night is pizza, salad and a bunt cake for more relatives or who ever might drop in....Friday after Terry's Mother in law's funeral, Kathy and I are headed east to see Lena for a couple of days and then Kathy flies home on Sunday......Next week, I'm not moving!

Really need to head for the kitchen.....
You all have a great rest of the day....

Happy eating............................
