SUPPER CLUB - Friday, March 12

Post by purrfect-lady » Fri Mar 12, 2021 5:31 am

Good morning,

Yesterday was a little more progress on DWR. Bill started checking out everything in the trailer - hot water heater, fridge, furnace, etc., and sanitizing water tanks. As long as he was doing this, I made up a menu list and carted out some non-perishable items. We're leaving in 10 days, just for 5 nights. But he is having his dental surgery Monday and they told him to expect to be "down" for a few days so he's doing all this kind of work "pre-op". Also, if he finds a problem he has time to fix it. Our window guy by and we learned a lot about windows. The best thing we learned is that it's going to cost only about half of what we thought it would. (still ain't cheap, though!) He is coming back on Tuesday for exact measurements. For two windows, he's going to have to crawl up on our roof. I think he said they are about 8 weeks out so that would put installation dates mid to late May - purrfect! We also finally got a March 29 install date for our bathroom floor and stairway carpet.

Today's plan - more DWR and whatever else pops up.

LORI - your luck, your house will catch on fire and he'll be out on the golf course! lol!

ROSEBUD - I'm glad things are getting straightened out for you at HD. We've spent a lot of time at HD lately and I always think of you every time we walk through those doors. And yes, we're one of those couples who always take their dog. He has learned that those orange aprons often hold TREATS!! He parks his little hiney in front of every orange apron he sees and tries to look as cute as possible, tail thumping hopefully. I hope you're able to work out your border soon. Maybe you'll have to break down and go shopping . . . Wouldn't that be an awful thing? NOT!

JANA - I'll make a note of that cleaner, Safelite. Thx. Did I tell you I ordered 3 of those skinny hangers? 1 to put with my watermelon WH for my sis and 2 for me for when I finally get a few skinnies made. What's the Ruby word? It's pretty close to the end of the week.. . . .

IRisH - bummer about Schwann's, isn't it. Just when I was starting to get enthused about them. And come to think of it, I haven't seen any of their trucks on the road lately. Funny about curtains. I have a few valences in sewing rooms and office and lace side panels in the living room that I take down and wash once or twice a year and put back up, but otherwise, I don't touch them. They are all about 20-22 yrs old, still in good shape, and I still like them. Guess when the new windows go in will be a good time to wash them again. Those bad owls! Between those eagle-harassing owls in FL and our hooting owls here, I'm starting to not like owls very much!

TINA - My mom never had any baby furniture for grands (And she had twenty!). We made a bed or playpen on the floor with pillows and overturned dining chairs. Worked great. And Mom didn't have to store extra furniture. I hope dust season will be over soon. Is the dust that bad only on windy days or even non-windy days? Maybe they should have sprinkling trucks precede the tractors through the fields. They do that in heavy construction sites. I did see the photos you put on FB. Actually, Bill was looking at them and I happened into the room. I'm not on FB much myself.

Tonite - baked chicken breasts, wild rice, and cauliflower. Not sure how I'll fix the cauliflower yet, but I'm open to ideas if any of you have good recipes.

Good morning!
Mary, that's good Bill's getting as much ready before his dental appointment but I hope he's not down for too long. Dental work can be so disruptive. Yay for less on the cost of your windows! The dirty doesn't blow unless there's wind. I sent the state guy pics of non wind beautiful views days of the same view I sent him with dirt so he can see the comparison. We emailed back and forth 3 times yesterday. I really hope they do something fast. The owner said there should be sprinklers up and running by next week but so far they haven't started laying them out.... I'm waiting to see if he's a man of his word.
Today is all about my house day LOL cleaning, laundry, bills to pay, more organizing.... just getting as much as possible done today so my next 9 days I'm hoping to have lots of sewing time with minimal pick up, clean up times.
I think supper tonight is leftover veggie beef soup that I made for lunch yesterday.

Good morning everyone.

I have some different ideas about the borders on the quilt. One is to make the border shadow box style. Another is like a piano key border, but not. I can't remember what it is called. The fabrics are put together so they look like they are offset blocks lined up across the row. and the last is to make each side with one solid fabric with second color for cornerstones. Hmmm. Still thinking...

My brain wandered off track from the borders to the label, lol. Anyone know how to convert a photo to a cross stitch pattern? I'm thinking of using one of their photo's from the day of their engagement to make the label.

I'm going to get another cup of tea, then get started with something around here that won't be strenuous but still allow me to get something accomplished...maybe sort through papers and purge unnecessary ones.

Irish when I say "Texas Chili", I am referring to meat and beans made in a red chili sauce. Around my neck of the woods when you say you are going to have chili, everyone defaults to NM green chili ie green chili stew or any other dish made from green chili.

Supper is still up in the air. Either left over chili with cornbread or use the chili to make some burritos.

Have a blessed day.

Mary/Rosebud

Good morning!

Here I sit, saying, ring, ring ring! I want my machine home! Then I can call my handyman and he will make the final cut and add the elevator lift for my machine.

Not much here. Sarah is doing up the landscape plan for here. Adding trees and bushes mostly with a few spots of tall grasses. We decided on what things I like - I am extremely, repeat extremely picky on how things should look. I drive Sarah bananas! We figured out the hardscaping for the firepit area. I have given up a tiny bit of control over what she can put in, but not much. And it can't look like weeds! Any other landscape architect would quit and throw up his hands with me.

Heading down to the Batt Cave in a minute. Dinner will be a cube steak sandwich. My ciabatta hamburger buns were delicious, so I will use up the last two tonight.

Stay Safe!
Hugs,
Jana

me again - just did some calculations on the amount of our stimulus check. if i left the stimulus money based on my 2019 numbers I lost nearly 1400 dollars in the current stimulus payment. So I went and filed this years taxes to gain that money using the lower numbers on 2020 taxes. so if you are close in the numbers, double check and see what the difference can be. You may want to file now and not leave money on the table.

Jana, Yay! Finally you get your machine back.

Mary, you're probably right about that. He is good in medical emergencies though. He was a paramedic for about 8 years of his career. So he's good for something. lol Hope Bill gets all his work done before his procedure. Dental work is not fun.

Becca, can I be your company. That all sounds delicious. I bought some strawberries from a small farm the other day. They were so delicious.

Tina, that dust from the neighbors is ridiculous. I hope something can be done.

Well I'm way late to this party. I've been sewing a quilt top. I've almost got it finished.

We had grilled chicken and mashed potatoes for dinner. It was quite yummy.

Sleep well my quilty friends.
