SUPPER CLUB - Monday, March 8th

Post by purrfect-lady » Mon Mar 08, 2021 6:48 am

Good morning,

33* here this morning. Brrr!! And I'll be out walking in a short while. At least there's no rain! And we should be about 50* by this afternoon with a lot of 50-deg days coming up this week. But all the lows are still in the 30's. We leave in 2 weeks to go camping on the coast. It's usually a couple degrees warmer there but is generally much wetter. So I'm crossing my fingers!

Bathroom is coming along and yesterday we got the "fall-out" from this big project all cleaned up. Our house looks like a home again. Also got 4 loads of laundry done. Going into the new week in pretty good shape! My sore neck is improving and I made a little more progress on my DWR. It's going well and I'm enjoying the process a lot more than I thought I would!

TINA - I'm glad you got your books all organized. Are they in your sewing room or on a shelf in the living room? Or?? So good to have Jazmyne's help. I have a tight 3-ft row of books. I don't know if that's a lot compared to other quilters, or a few or just the right amount. And I just ordered another one - El's Attic Book. Going to have to squeeze it in somehow! In our bathroom, we didn't have to take the whole vanity back - just the top/sink unit. We like it's replacement much better plus it has the advantage of fitting the vanity! lol! You asked the size of my DWR. It's made in 16" square blocks. I'm thinking 4x5 setting. So, just about 60x75. If I make it bigger, then it would be 75x90. Still haven't made the decision yet. I guess I could even go 90x105 but that ain't happening!

BECCA - I talked to Kathy yesterday right after you did! I know she appreciated our calls. She's feeling discouraged at being so sick for so long, and now her DD, Kim, is in the hospital with a leg injury after falling twice in two days. I'm glad she's starting to knit again. Did you finish your last block? When your quilt is done, if you send me a photo I'll post it for you if you wish.

ROSEBUD - it's so hard to get "manly" chores done when you live alone. Before I married Bill, I finally found a handyman, made him a list, and he spent the day here. Such a relief to get things done, but it cost me.

LORI - It's Lent! Unmentionables have been OK'd for the duration. Enjoy! I know my kitty is! You are getting a lot of sewing in lately. It's so nice after years of working, to finally have time to sew isn't it!

JANA - I'm so happy Andrew got to go home with a quilt! When our Andrew was that age he expressed interest in learning to quilt, but we were never able to get together and his interest quickly died. A storm coming your way? Hmmm.... I bet it's the one we had in the past few days. Sorry about that.

Our supper last night morphed into chicken rice soup. I thought it was really good, but Bill wasn't too happy with it. It was a big pot and I put about 1/2 tsp dried, crushed rosemary in along with parsley, sage, and thyme. (Someone should write a song! ) Anyway, B doesn't like rosemary but I do (in moderation). I thought I could get away with just a smidge. Guess not. But it's probably our supper again tonite. He can suck it up (literally) or have Cheerios.

Good morning 😊
Mary, my QIAD books are in the cabinet on 1 shelf in my closet. I also have 1 shelf in a bookcase in the kids room that is quilting books....Lori Holt and others. I'm glad you only had to get a different top to your vanity, I was thinking you had to start all over from scratch on the "what'll work that we like" part. Oh that's a nice size quilt! I'm anxious to try my templates out LOL I'm tracking them.
We love chicken and rice soup here, sorry Bill didn't care for it.
I've already gone through 2 boxes this morning and organize another tote. I need to clean that up today since I have things laying here and there as I sorted out what was in those boxes. I did see where I'm missing a Kimberbelle pattern so now I'm on the hunt for that LOL El's email this morning got me to wondering where it is and it's not with my other ones so the hunt continues. Oh and I found 4 more set of swap blocks! I'm now out of room on my shelf so I hope I don't fine anymore! 😂🤣
Arby's has a buy 1 sandwich or wrap and get one free special today so we decided that'll be supper. I need to go to town to pick up am order at Dollar Tree so that'll kill 2 birds with 1 stone.

Good morning!

Although there is a supposed storm coming, it is bright and beautiful outside. Way too warm to snow, so it may be just rain .

Not much here. Will hobble down to the Batt Cave in a bit. My knee is giving me fits today. Some Advil and heat, hopefully will put it back under control.

Dinner is leftovers, which I may turn into a chicken pot pie. Not a Michael favorite, but he will eat it.

Mary - I too, thought you returned the entire vanity set, not just the top. Glad things are in place. So nice to have the mess tamed.

Tina - I too, have all my quilt books ordered by author. Al my QIAD are together and take up most of one shelf. I have Lori Holt too and some by Diana McClun and Laura Nownes. They were some of the first writing books in the early 80's and had a PBS show too. The books are named Quilts, Quilts Quilts. I was as a teenager, the babysitter for Diana McClun and she is a member of the chuch and worked with my mom. I have known her for many years.

Well, I should try and see if I can make this knee cooperate.

Stay Safe,
Hugs,
Jana

Tina and Jana, you are so organized. My books are on selves, here and there. I keep my favorites on selves in the sewing room, but not enough space for all my books.

Mary, hope you neck is better. Maybe a day with your feet up and a good book is in order. I need a good handy man. Bill can do sprinklers, or landscape stuff, but when it comes to the house forget it. I'm more handy than he is. Sure hope Mariam is going to be okay. I miss her stories about the hooligans' and Covid.

I need to clean a bit today, then I'm going sew up a blouse I cut out last month. I sewed an apron last night for my girlfriends birthday. I also have a project bag pattern cut out ready to sew that I need to finish up.

For dinner we'll have what I didn't make last night. DH wasn't hungry, so I just steamed a tamale and made some guacamole and chips to go with it. It was quite delish.

Have a lovely day.
Lori 8-)
