SUPPER CLUB - Thursday, March 4th
Good morning!
Chilly and damp here but at least the damp isn't actually falling out of the sky - yet. But it's coming tonite.
My poor hubby - went to the dentist to get cavity beneath his crown repaired. And turns out his tooth can't be saved. So he's off to a specialist soon to have it pulled and he is going to get an implant. Turns out his sister is going through the same thing right now. So they will be implant buddies. Today Bill gets his 2nd Covid vaccine. Curious to see what reactions he will have. I only had headache and sore arm for one night.
I played with my new DWR templates yesterday. I love them! They are easy to use. No pinning! Curved sewing was no problem. But this quilt will be slow going. Which is OK, because it's for Autumn and she is going slow. But yesterday after a few hours of consideration and tips from Mary Rose, I made all my fabric choices (batiks on black), and this morning I'm second guessing those choices. Each arc is 6 wedges and I finally settled on 6 fabrics. For the size quilt I hope to make, I need a full yard of each fabric. But this morning, now I'm thinking maybe I should go scrappy (still batiks) which would allow me to use up some of my smaller pieces of fabrics and save my bigger cuts for projects that need more material. Arghhh.... I'm so bad at decisions!
TINA - Good luck to your dad today when he gets his shot. I hope he doesn't have reactions, though that is actually a good thing. Just doesn't make them any more fun. Did you say you are getting your shot today, too?
MARY ROSE - thank you for your DWR assist yesterday. Your tips/advice really put it all into perspective for me. I'm so happy you got that letter! Maybe you should call your gastro doc and tell him you have a time frame from work and he might at least make a decision sooner on your course of action. You know, squeaky wheel and all that . . . . Love your quilt! That pattern was one of the three I was considering for Autumn (DWR, Lone Star, & Lovers Knot). Your colors go together so well. You were quick about getting it together. Did you decide on a border yet? Does it need a border? Do you have a print that plays well with the other fabrics?
BECCA - you got your niece's quilt done quickly! I know it will be a day-brightener and a spirit-uplifter for her when she opens up that package!
JANA - Hope your machines show up soon! They are missing all the fun! I guess I forgot about your log cabin. Refresh me, please. Colors and who it is for. I really try to keep track of everyone's projects, but sometimes I forget. Have fun with that big order you have coming. It will be like Christmas morning! I use magazine holders, too, for organizing a lot of things in my sewing room. But have to confess I got all of mine at Goodwill for 99 cents each. Also, my 3-ring binders.
My baked potato soup last night turned out so delicious, if I do say so myself. Bill scarfed his down and went immediately for a second bowl. He rarely compliments me on anything, but he raved about that soup all evening long. I guess that recipe is a keeper! I have a massage appt today and I'm going to take David, my massage therapist, a big bowl of it because we have a lot left over. And it's going to be our supper again tonite.
What's your supper plan looking like?

Good morning Mary.
Happy to assist. In my opinion, I think you made the right choice by going scrappy on your DWR.
The quilt does need the borders to make it large enough for their bed. When I get back from getting my second covid shot this morning I plan on going through my stash to see if I have other fabrics that will play nicely with the ones in the body of the quilt. First I will get everything picked up and put away from the makings of the quilt body. After that I will make another "mess" going through and auditioning fabrics for the borders.
Charles got chicken at the store yesterday and left it in the fridge, so I will need to see what he has on his mind about supper before I commit to anything for sure. Once I know I will try to remember to come back and let you know.

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Thursday, March 4th
Good Morning,
I have been busy with Zoom meetings this week. I learned about Google Drive on Monday morning and then Tuesday was the Guild Board meeting. Yesterday it rained and we had a great turnout for the afternoon sew in.
I have a funny for you. One of the Guild member's son's girlfriend's sister believes that if she gets a Covid shot she will turn into a Zombie. She got the idea from an old movie. It is ridiculous, but she believes it!
Not sure how she accounts for all of us who have gotten a shot and are not Zombies.
Maryz - Your first instincts are probably correct on color. Use your batiks, what better excuse to buy more?
So sorry Bill is having a tooth pulled. Not fun!
Mary/Rosebud - Your quilt is so pretty. Gold rings are perfect! Glad to hear you finally got your letter. Hope you are feeling better.
Dinner this evening will be Chicken k-bobs again. We have slices of chicken for lunch from the Roasted Chicken the other day and we had Chili last night. Today is a bright sunny day. (Probably windy.) I need to go to Grocery Store. Did I tell you the number of new cases is way down in Los Angeles County? They are talking about moving to the next tier next week!! Yeah!! I get my second shot next week.
Carol

Good morning!
Mary, sorry Bill has to have a tooth pulled. Yes, I'm getting a covid vaccine at 7pm tonight. I'm not sure which one so I don't know if it'll be the first one of 2 or the J&J one. I'll let you know after I get it. I had to sign the disclaimer for all 3. I wish we had damp weather, we're dry, wind blowing dirt really bad.... I'm trying to keep as much shut as possible to help me breath. I think scrappy batiks will be beautiful! I want my templates so I can make a table topper for practice.
Becca, you've been busy! That's a lot to do in such a short time!
Carol, have you ever watched I Am Legend? LOL I bet that's what she's talking about. When we had our deep freeze 10 years ago, it's called the 100 year freeze, it made me think of a movie called Day After Tomorrow LOL things remind me of movies but I don't believe that's what's happening LOL.
Maryrose, I hope you find the perfect border fabric.
I'm doing laundry today and vacuuming again... it's going to get dirty right after I vacuum but it drives me crazy for the dust to cover the floors and I can't stand how I feel it through my shoes when walking around.
Supper may be eating in the suburban since my appointment is at 7. We'll see.

Mary, bummer about Bill's tooth. I went to the dentist yesterday for a cleaning. I love having my teeth cleaned. Your DWR will be pretty, but dog and cat hair cling to black fabric. It can be a pain to work with when you have furry kid that like to hang out with you. Potato and ham soup is one of our favorites.
Tina, I too need to do some cleaning today.
Becca, that's a busy morning.
Carol, I try and limit my Zoom. It is nice for guild business meetings though.
Well the boys have been walked. Now to get some cleaning done before I take my parents dog to the groomers at 1100. I've been working on quilting a few small projects over the last few days.
For dinner I think we will be going out. I'm in the mood for chicken wings.
Have a lovely day.

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Thursday, March 4th
Good morning!
Still no phone call about my machine. Do you remember the old Mervyn's store ads, with the girl standing at the door, saying, open, open, open. Well here, it's ring, ring, ring!
Mary - so sorry for Bill. That is no fun! My log cabin quilt is for me and its burgundys, golds/yellows and a small touch of dark green in the borders. It will go on my new bed. I have enough fabric left for pillow shams too. Need to get a dust ruffle for the set. It goes perfectly with the new paint in my bedroom.
Carol - that's where I made my presentation for my lesson, in Google slides. Tons of things in that Google app. 0lays nicely with Zoom.
MaryRose - glad the work paper came through. Now to get the rest in order and you all better!
Tina - oh I am with you and gritties under my feet! It depends on if the wind is blowing in from the west desert if I get lots of extra dust here. Then add snow to that dust and our cars were covered in mud!
Ordered my new magazine holders, some were quite expensive, but these were only 3 dollars a piece, so not too bad. I need to go through all my packet type patterns, see what to save and what to give away or pitch. I have many craft patterns as well. I have already organized my books by author to find what I want quickly. I have been known to see a new book, order it and find out I already had it. Sarah's books get increased that way. Next on my list is to redo my baskets and, move my fat quarter sets to my island drawers. I want to get things where I know they are. In fact, came across a 5 yard piece of TOT white, I didn't know I had.
Dinner - there's a bit of chicken left, so will turn it into Caesar salads.
Stay Safe!
Hugs,
Jana

I got my shot, it was moderna. I didn't feel a thing. The guy that gave it was really good!
Holly is in pain with her arm but apparently she got someone that was rough. I hope she feels better in the morning. She's been in bed most of the day, nauseous, yucky feeling, headache.... but she always gets like that with any shot.
