SUPPER CLUB - Wed, March 3rd

Post by purrfect-lady » Wed Mar 03, 2021 6:27 am

Good morning,

We're chilly at 34* this morning, but dry. (for now) and going to 55 and sunny later today. Only 2-1/2 weeks until spring officially starts. The long range forecast is that we will have a cooler, wetter spring, but a warmer and drier summer. We'll see if "they" are correct.

Yesterday we were busy hanging new light fixture and towel bars in BR. And I worked some on my little wall hanging. Then off to the vaccination event for my second shot. (Bill gets his tomorrow at a different place). It went so much more quickly than the first time. I never felt the needle or the medication going in. If I hadn't been watching I wouldn't have believed I'd had a shot! Had a sore arm and headache through the night but both are better now. I hope that's all I get.

Bill is having dental procedure today. He has a cavity under a gold crown. He's not looking forward to this. I promised him I'd make baked potato soup for supper. I make soups all the time but I've never made potato, though I have a good recipe. And it's one of my favorite soups! Bad me.

BECCA - so sorry you had such a bad reaction to your shot. I'm guessing you better not get the second one. What a beautiful observation you had about Rosebud's DWR quilt. I was impressed and thought her quilt so pretty, but it didn't click with me that all the rings were like gold wedding bands. Duh!!

IRiSH - Glad you got your cookies and a short visit with your old neighbors. I'm bummed that you haven't gotten The Call for a shot yet. Maybe now that J&J's vaccine is out there you'll be hearing soon. I believe Walgreens and Rite-Aids will be giving out shots soon, as will Safeway. If you have any of those stores in your area, you might start calling them and get on even more lists. My living room and hallway are a medium sage so the transition into the bathroom, a very pale sage, will work well. Much better than our old color - bright turquoise! That color, my favorite, never worked in the bathroom. But I was too lazy to paint over it. Bill must have disliked it, too, but never said, because when I suggested we re-do the bathroom back in January, he jumped on board so fast he almost knocked me off!

JANA - you are right about the side effects from the shot - it means your body had built up antibodies to the virus and is fighting it. So, in this case, I guess bad news is good news. :? When I hang pictures, I eyeball it and start pounding in the nails. Your Michael would have a fit! I got my DWR templates yesterday. Going to try a sample block with them today, I think. And I really do like the scalloped edge. I've done them before with binding cut on the bias. So, I'm thinking that's the way I'll go. And my intersections will be 4P's like Rosebud's, rather than the pointy pieces in my tablerunner. I'm excited to get started!

TINA - you are ALWAYS busy! Haven't you noticed?? But treasure the busy-ness. It is over all too soon! So, are you back in the sewing/quilting business yet?

Well, I already gave a spoiler alert about our supper so no surprises here - baked potato soup with bacon. And I might make some baking powder biscuits to go with. I have Chickie's recipe and they are really good. Not as good as hers, but I keep trying!

Hoping we all have a tasty supper tonite, whether it's cold cereal, soup, or filet mignon!

Good morning!
Mary, I hope that's all you get from your shot too. I bet your bathroom is going to be so fresh looking!
I guess I usually am busy LOL but yesterday seemed more 🤷‍♀️
Tomorrow Dad gets his second vaccine and I get my first. Plus his little yorkie goes for grooming and so does Rosie and Duncan....I think with school and all the rest it's gonna be extra busy tomorrow too.
Supper tonight is chicken, mac and cheese and peas.

Good morning. News flash...Yesterday I finally got a letter in the mail re: my leave of absence. It was approved from 12/26/20 through 4/1/21. I'm still waiting for a decision from the gastroenterologist re: the course of action he thinks we need to take for my para esophageal hernia and results from the barium x-rays.

I finished the body of the "Lover's Knot" quilt that I'm making for my DGD. Now I am contemplating how I want to do the borders.

I'm thinking about making some veggie soup for supper, but depending on how the day goes, that may change.

Good morning!

Quiet minute for me. Michael is out on a short walk and up to the mailbox for the stuff in there. I have a package from QIAD. It is a Kimberbell pattern for my bench pillow. It is a applique program for my machine that does the stitching for me. Now to get that machine back, so I can learn how to use that type of applique.

Dinner - chicken stuffing and gravy cassarole and green beans.

Heading to the Batt Cave to quilt two small wall hanging quilts. They have been waiting for me for awhile. These are done on my regular sewing machine. I also need to load my big log cabin on the LA. Also need to put things away down there.

Sorry, no Aaron or Lila stories. Ethan pulled a good one the other day. It is his responsibility to empty the dishwasher. Which he neglected, so Sarah and Joseph were doing that as they cleaned the kitchen. Well, Ethan , being 9, was oblivious to everything, went in, got leftover pizza out of the refrigerator, heated it and sat down to munch it for his dinner. Sarah, asked him, do you notice any thing? No was his answer.
Sarah - try again-
Ethan - oh you are cleaning the kitchen.
Sarah - try again -
Ethan still missing what he was supposed to do, contined eating.
Sarah was getting a bit exasperated at the boy,, when Ethan finally asked,, is it me?
Ethan finally got it and emptied the dishwasher. Right now, Ethan is paying attention to his chores.

Well, time to head to the Batt Cave,
Stay Safe,
Hugs,
Jana

I'm back.
Maryrose, I'm glad you finally got your letter. You really got that quilt top together fast! I loved your quilt so much I found a used book and ordered it last night for under $5 and free shipping! I earned another book for free and I'm thinking what I'll get for that $5 😍😊🤔
Jana, LOL these kids here are the same.... oblivious to certain things.
I forgot to tell you Maryz, yes I'm back in the sewing and quilting business..... seemed like it took forever! I was in there yesterday morning for 2 hours before the kids got here and then back in after they left for a little bit and that was about it yesterday. Today I was back in when I got up for a couple hours, I'm fixing to go back in there LOL Easton is finished with his work and is going out to help Frankie water pecan trees. We're 64° and it's beautiful out there! We had to start the watering of everything last week on a weekly basis, I water once a month through the winter. Well be lucky if we have 2 weeks of Spring.
Oh I changed supper plans LOL it's banned food and the rest is the same.

Here's a peek at what I have finished so far on my DGD's wedding quilt. I still need to decide what I want to do for the borders.

Just when you think you have a handle on organizing - you have to wait on a Amazon order! I found I needed more plastic magazine holders for my patterns and embroidery software. So I just ordered them from Amazon and now they will be here Tuesday.

My big BD order will arrive tomorrow and I can hope that the two machines that the repair guy is bringing back to the shop for pick up, one is mine!

I also got the mother of all uglies done - our taxes! I don't owe very much this year, which is very surprising! I usually owe the national debt! Almost had a refund, but not. The government still is not getting the little bit owed until the last day. It is the principle of the thing. LOL!

Sarah shared more of this laughable English class she has to take. The students are required to edit and give comments on your paper. Then Sarah is supposed to take those comments and finish writing the final paper. Well, the students in the class are waiting until just 5 minutes before the final paper is due to give their comments on Sarah's papers. They are purposely trying to bring her grade/curve down in the class. Just so they can get a better grade. Well, Sarah knows this, and has her paper already submitted so they can't do that. She posted her edits and comments on their papers with three days to go before their final paper is due. Oh is she having fun, editing all their papers. She has read some of the parts to me, and let me say, the world is in deep trouble if this is how a sophomore English class of students write. My Sandee has seen some of the work and her middle schoolers, with learning disabilities write better papers. This class is on composition.

Well, more work to be done down here,
Jana
