SUPPER CLUB - Tuesday, March 2nd
Good morning,
We are 43* this morning. And our forecast for the coming week is mostly above 50*. Yay, March!! The owls were "on the hoot" again last night, but we locked Mr. Anti-Owl Dogworts in our bedroom so he was much quieter. I don't know how many owls live with us, but there seems to be plenty and they have a lot to talk about this time of year. Sorry we woke all the dogs the other night!
Looks like most of you found my photo yesterday of my DWR TR. Didn't show well in the picture, but two of those fabrics were Easter prints. The backing is a hydrangea print so I can flip it over after Easter and still be spring. Then I started a small summer wall-hanging from a kit my SS, Lyn, sent me. 6x23" of a watermelon wedge an a ladybug. I might send this to my younger sister for her bd in April. Or I may keep it all to myself! I'm still waiting for my new DWR template set to arrive. We'll see which comes first - those templates and therefore the DWR quilt or the Sew-a-long Mary Q is planning. I only work on one project at a time and I almost always see it through to the end before starting another.
Yesterday we got the bathroom primed in the morning and painted in the afternoon. It's very pale sage and looks so nice! Tomorrow we'll paint the crown molding (white). After that Bill will install the new light fixture and probably the wall cabinet. Then we're done until the floor goes in and so far, no word on that. When we do get that date, we'll pull the toilet the day before and get out the paint again because we need to prime/paint behind it.
I have an appt this afternoon to get my second vaccine and Bill has his on Thursday at 5:30pm. Both are huge drive-thru events and may take hours. It's a busy week of appointments for us.
TINA - that is a BIG closet! The closet in my quilting room is nearly that big and I have two large stainless steel shelving units in there. One is full of finished quilts and one is full of Christmas stuff. the two shelves above are games, puzzles, and odd things that I keep for some reason or another.
BECCA - you've had a busy few days! You must be very popular - all those phone calls! Wonderful to stay so connected. Did you get your shot OK? Any side effects? You're right - fabric has gone up $$. This is why I take good advantage of the semi-annual 40% sale my fave LQS. Her regular prices average $10/yd so the sale prices average about $6/yd.
LORI - what is your tablerunner like? Sometimes, I back mine with a totally different fabric so I can flip it and instantly be 'redecorated'. I have Valentine/St. Pat's, TG/Christmas, Fall/Halloween.
JANA - Your grandkitty is a lot of kitty! I thought Foxtrot was pretty hefty at 17#. You are a good kitty-gramma. I hope you can get your bedroom carpet. It would be the purrfect time. When we did ours, we were able to get some they had in the warehouse that had been ordered by another customer and then rejected. We got it for cost and they installed it almost immediately. Growing up we also had a 'board' like you described and it fit over the recliner and also over the bathtub and on top of two dining chairs to become a little girl's instant desk for playing 'office'. And come suppertime for our big family it went back into the table! I haven't decided yet if I'm going to do the scalloped edge or straight edge on my DWR. To be honest, I don't yet have a real pattern. I'm feeling my way. But I do think I'm going to do colorful batiks on a black background.
MARY ROSE - I love your quilt. Rings of Gold! Beautiful! And it looks like you did the scalloped edge on yours. I hadn't thought about leaving off the triangles at the ends of the arcs. I like the 4P look. Acchh!! More decisions!
CAROL - I do spend a lot of my time sewing. But I don't have a lot else going on in my life right now so I sew. And it's also my reading time. I listen to audio books that I download from the library to my i-pad while I sew. And I got a recording of about 30 episodes of the old radio show, Our Miss Brooks. going right now. Fun!
I'm not sure about supper tonite. I might put something into the crockpot so it's all ready when we get home from the vaccine event. Or I might just make poached eggs. Or grilled cheese and tomato basil soup. And we do have Cheerios . . .

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Tuesday, March 2nd
Good afternoon from a very sunny but chilly (38) SW. Pa.....This is going to be a good week, weather wise, sun and even getting up close to 60..AND no snow but I'm not putting that shovel away yet...Many years, we've been snowed in on St. Paddy's Day and even had snow on Easter.....
Mary, Happy to hear you 2 are getting that 2nd shot....Many of us are still waiting to be called for the 1st one.....I have my name on so many lists, you'd think by now something would be happening.....Maybe I'll be getting the J&J one........Seems we're hearing more and more about owls this year...They're causing havoc at the nest in Ft. Myers...Almost every night, one will knock either Mom off the nest of Dad off a near by branch....Just worried that when the eggs hatch, they might go after the little ones.....Such is nature, not so nice at times......But, I did have a laugh at your "barking dog" waking up so many dogs around the country....AND, it was probably about the same time, I woke up and wondered what was happening.....I love sage green! The spare bathroom (Kathy's) is white but I have shades of sage in the towels, rugs and shower curtain...I know if I ever decide to paint, some of the rooms will be sage.....
Becca, with all you've been doing, it's no wonder you're worn out...We all need to take time, put the feet up, think good thoughts and just rest...Of course with me, I need no excuse to "rest"...Do hate to hear about the problems with shots...More reason to take it easy......
Tina, In looking at your closet, I thought I was seeing the inside of a quilt shop...It's awesome! And so glad to hear Easton is learning about the eagles....If you haven't found the cam sites, go to Hays Bald Eagle Cam-CBS Pittsburgh (that's the one near me) or the one in Ft. Myers is DickPritchettRealestate.com/eagle-feed or just do a google on eagle cams....Both nests just have eggs but there is another nest in Florida that has 1 eaglet....They are fascinating to watch especially their parenting and how they work together......
I had visitors this morning....The family that lived beside me at the other house stopped to drop off my Girl Scout cookies....I was disappointed because they wouldn't come in because of the Covid so they stood on the porch and visited that way....They had not seen the house and promised to come back when all was better....They too have moved, not too far from me and told me, their oldest son who has been living in the old house might decide to buy it....This family is known for their hugs and I sure did miss that......Now that I have the cookies, I need to get them packed up and sent to England...Nick will think I've forgotten, lol.....Other than that, nothing else on the schedule so might try to finish the baby afghan...Need it done soon, got the shower invitation yesterday.....
Tonight's dinner will be left over roast with potatoes/carrots that I made yesterday...Always better the 2nd day......And my sister stopped over and brought me a couple pieces of Texas Sheet Cake for afters......All that weight I had lost last fall from the virus is ALL coming back.......Even though my "taster" still isn't right, I'm eating....
You all have a great rest of the day....
Happy eating................

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Tuesday, March 2nd
Good morning!
Becca - as my mom always said, this too shall pass. I have some reactions to my shot, the Moderna, and I ran a one degree fever. As soon as that was normal again, I took my Advil and felt fine. Those same reactions happened to all of those in my family who have been vaccinated. They say all that shows you are creating the antibodies they want.
Mary - glad it was quiet at your house. When making a DWR, there is really not a pattern. J7st the size of the arcs, the footballs and the middle. The footballs are the shapes making the small ovals. The middle joins everything. Your color ideas will be striking. There are really no patterns to follow, just how many a Ross, by how many down.
Started this awhile ago. Let me say, never but never and I do mean NEVER, hang pictures with a engineer! Not only did we have a tape, level, hammer and picture hanging hooks, we had a calculator, for precise math calculations. We finally got all the ones he wanted in the new office, hung. Heck my way works well, looks good in that spot, put the nail in there, voile, your done. But not a engineer.
Dinner - there a bowl of noodles left that Michael can have when he gets back from Matt's tonight. I may just enjoy a PB&J. I will cook something good tomorrow.
Most of my uglies are caught up and done. I may get to go play in the Batt Cave. I still have a couple of boxes to put away and organize from when we did the island. Also have stuff in the bedroom as well. Then there is the guest bedroom, which will be needed on Friday to straighten up too. I guess I will be busy!
Stay Safe!
Hugs,
Jana

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Tuesday, March 2nd
Hi everyone!
My day has been crazy busy, I don't know why but it just seems to be more busy lately.
Mary, your summer wall hanging sounds really cute
I hope this summer isn't so hot for us here.
Becca, I used to talk like that on the phone, I sure miss it and the ones I talked to.
Irish, thank you for the info on the eagle cams, hopefully we can look this week.
Jana, I keep finding little boxes and such of little things to put away LOL funny how much is involved with redoing things.
I made eggs, bacon and waffles for breakfast, grilled cheese and tomato soup for lunch. Supper will be stew meat, leftover mashed potatoes and gravy and green beans.
I'm scheduled for my vaccine for Thursday, not sure which one it will be but just heard on the news that NM just received a big shipment of J&J today.
