SUPPER CLUB - Thursday, Feb 25th

Good stormy morning!
We're 37* with wind and rain this morning and a 'feels like' temp of 28* Brrr! I have an 0730 dental appt and I hate the thought of going out in this weather. I hope it clears before I meet Lori Across The Road after my appt for our daily walk. I will walk in rain and cold but I don't walk in wind. Too many big trees around here.
Yesterday I cleaned out the medicine cabinet. It was time. I had cough syrup in there that expired 9 years ago. Then I rearranged the living room furniture and finally went into my sewing room and got started on a DWR tablerunner from El's Egg Money book. Just to get my feet wet. I'm using her templates on this project and appliqueing the arcs, but when I start my quilt, I will use the new templates I ordered and the traditional method of sewing. I keep hoping Bill will load my embroidered birds onto the LA and we can get started on that. He finished the gutter yesterday and today is bad weather, so maybe . . . . He moves at a snail's pace and trying to hurry him only slows him down even more. Unless something else pops up, I will probably spend the afternoon working on my tablerunner. But maybe we'll drive to Port Orchard and check out Lowe's for a bathroom vanity top & sink.
TINA - I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your fabric shelves!! Will it all fit? And Lori had a great question: If you do a DWR do you know what fabrics/colors you would do it in? If I did one for myself, I think I'd like 30's fabrics.
LORI - You asked who I'm doing the DWR for - I have a strong hunch Autumn may be getting married sometime in the coming year. And I want to be prepared. The smart play though, would be to finish the top and not quilt it until I know it's really happening. Easier to store than a finished quilt. I am already storing a Tennessee Waltz top (in black, gold, cream) I made for a friend who thought she would be getting married - 4 years ago. (so I guess I have to count that as a UFO?) How did your sew day go yesterday? What did you work on?
MARY ROSE - so nice to have you and your yummy pork chops at the table! Thanks for the pictures. I'm happy to know you're experienced in DWR and are willing to answer my questions if they come up.
IRISH - I thought of you the other day. Bill and I were outside in the back yard (he working on gutter and me hanging fabric on the lines) and a pair of eagles were soaring overhead, making lazy circles. I don't know where they live but if they had eggs already, shouldn't one of them have been egg-sitting? I thought of you immediately, of course, and told Bill, "I have to report this to Irish." Cats! If something interesting is going on they have to be in the middle of it, don't they! lol! I bet if you started cleaning closets in your bedroom, Baby Girl would fold up her tent and move in there with you and then that would be her new favorite room!
BECCA - congrats to Bethany on getting an order for her first wedding cake! I'm sure it will be delicious! And beautiful! Nope, never made a DWR. Curved sewing tends to put me off. Though I have made a drunkard's path and a clamshell and finally did get the hang of it, halfway through each quilt! Another curved pattern I want to try is New York Beauty. It's another one that's on my bucket list.
JANA - what's the Matt report? And how you doing after your shot? And did you get your machine back yet? And do you know where your bed is? Sorry - so many questions, I have!
Our chili last night was pretty good. I was a bit worried. You see, I don't like my meatloaf. I've used lots of different recipes and also just tried throwing things in - still dont' like it. (but I like other people's. Even my brother, who sends more of his cooking outside to the foxes than to his table makes better meatloaf than I do!) But I keep trying and last month I made four small loaves and froze them. They are just the size for us to split for one supper. And they were awful. So I took the last two little meatloaves and browned them up and tossed them into the chili, hoping the strong flavors would overpower them. And they did! But, boy, do we have a big pot of chili! So tonite will be a reheat of that and the cornbread.
So what's your supper going to be tonite? I hope it's not awful!
