SUPPER CLUB - Thursday, Feb 25th

Post by purrfect-lady » Thu Feb 25, 2021 5:41 am

Good stormy morning!

We're 37* with wind and rain this morning and a 'feels like' temp of 28* Brrr! I have an 0730 dental appt and I hate the thought of going out in this weather. I hope it clears before I meet Lori Across The Road after my appt for our daily walk. I will walk in rain and cold but I don't walk in wind. Too many big trees around here.

Yesterday I cleaned out the medicine cabinet. It was time. I had cough syrup in there that expired 9 years ago. Then I rearranged the living room furniture and finally went into my sewing room and got started on a DWR tablerunner from El's Egg Money book. Just to get my feet wet. I'm using her templates on this project and appliqueing the arcs, but when I start my quilt, I will use the new templates I ordered and the traditional method of sewing. I keep hoping Bill will load my embroidered birds onto the LA and we can get started on that. He finished the gutter yesterday and today is bad weather, so maybe . . . . He moves at a snail's pace and trying to hurry him only slows him down even more. Unless something else pops up, I will probably spend the afternoon working on my tablerunner. But maybe we'll drive to Port Orchard and check out Lowe's for a bathroom vanity top & sink.

TINA - I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your fabric shelves!! Will it all fit? And Lori had a great question: If you do a DWR do you know what fabrics/colors you would do it in? If I did one for myself, I think I'd like 30's fabrics.

LORI - You asked who I'm doing the DWR for - I have a strong hunch Autumn may be getting married sometime in the coming year. And I want to be prepared. The smart play though, would be to finish the top and not quilt it until I know it's really happening. Easier to store than a finished quilt. I am already storing a Tennessee Waltz top (in black, gold, cream) I made for a friend who thought she would be getting married - 4 years ago. (so I guess I have to count that as a UFO?) How did your sew day go yesterday? What did you work on?

MARY ROSE - so nice to have you and your yummy pork chops at the table! Thanks for the pictures. I'm happy to know you're experienced in DWR and are willing to answer my questions if they come up.

IRISH - I thought of you the other day. Bill and I were outside in the back yard (he working on gutter and me hanging fabric on the lines) and a pair of eagles were soaring overhead, making lazy circles. I don't know where they live but if they had eggs already, shouldn't one of them have been egg-sitting? I thought of you immediately, of course, and told Bill, "I have to report this to Irish." Cats! If something interesting is going on they have to be in the middle of it, don't they! lol! I bet if you started cleaning closets in your bedroom, Baby Girl would fold up her tent and move in there with you and then that would be her new favorite room!

BECCA - congrats to Bethany on getting an order for her first wedding cake! I'm sure it will be delicious! And beautiful! Nope, never made a DWR. Curved sewing tends to put me off. Though I have made a drunkard's path and a clamshell and finally did get the hang of it, halfway through each quilt! Another curved pattern I want to try is New York Beauty. It's another one that's on my bucket list.

JANA - what's the Matt report? And how you doing after your shot? And did you get your machine back yet? And do you know where your bed is? Sorry - so many questions, I have!

Our chili last night was pretty good. I was a bit worried. You see, I don't like my meatloaf. I've used lots of different recipes and also just tried throwing things in - still dont' like it. (but I like other people's. Even my brother, who sends more of his cooking outside to the foxes than to his table makes better meatloaf than I do!) But I keep trying and last month I made four small loaves and froze them. They are just the size for us to split for one supper. And they were awful. So I took the last two little meatloaves and browned them up and tossed them into the chili, hoping the strong flavors would overpower them. And they did! But, boy, do we have a big pot of chili! So tonite will be a reheat of that and the cornbread.

So what's your supper going to be tonite? I hope it's not awful!

Good morning!

OK, I think I am here. This shot gave me the best description of a hang over, even though I have never had one! Just woke up and could take a nap. All this aside, I am better than yesterday. No Advil for another day or so as well. The proverbial they say, when you feel like this, your body is working hard to create the antibodies. You feel better in a day or so. The only medication I take is , over the counter Advil and most all meds do me in, so knew this one would too.

Matt is home. Tired, but looks much better when I saw him yesterday. We drove up to SLC to pick up a recliner we bought him and then Aaron stopped on his way home from his shift, to carry in and upstairs for Matt. Matt's house is 2 stories and the showers are upstairs. He will stay up there most of the time until he gains some strength back. The Dr prescribed Eliquis as the blood thinner. He has a laptop and can work from his new recliner as needed.

Well, dinner, humm, Michael is totally not able to cook. We will see what he comes up with. Right now he is trying to cook his breakfast. A comedy! He is trying to find a 1/4 cup measuring cup to do his cracked wheat cooked cereal. You see, when a engineer is doing testing, you don't change things! He is changing a medication and doesn't want to change to see if deleting that med does work. So he is learning to cook cracked wheat. So far, changing , eliminating that med, is helping tremendously. It had side effects that we needed to get rid of. All this was approved by his Dr. Me, I get a bowl of Cheerios. I'm good with that.

Well, better get dressed, no bed, no machine either. They were both called and supposed to let me know the status. Haven't yet, grrrr!

Hugs,
Jana

Good morning from another sunny but chilly day in SW. Pa..We were really spoiled yesterday, it got up to at least 60 and the sun was heavenly...Of course rain was predicted at 4:00 and right on schedule, it started, just as we were coming home...But, I have very little snow, just a little pile beside the front porch...To be able to look out and actually see green, really lifts the spirits.....

Mary, You saw eagles again! My dream is to be somewhere and see them in a tree or soaring...I did visit the nest in Ft. Myers and from afar, did get a glimpse....Your medicine cabinet sounded like mine when I was packing up to move...The things you find! Are you changing the color in your bathroom? Kevin just finished his main bathroom and it is absolutely gorgeous...He completely gutted it. We laughed because when you opened the door, you could look down into the family room below...It had been a celery green and he went with Navy and white...Of course now, only females are allowed to use it, the boys have to go downstairs...That one is decorated with all Harley stuff, all male bathroom....Now he's doing the bedrooms, just had carpet put down and then moving onto the living/dining room area...He's quite a guy, can do anything...Good catch for some lucky gal.....

Jana, thinking about you, hoping you're OK from your shot and of course thinking about Matt....In talking to others, I'm hearing a lot talk about the after affects they are having...My sister is worried about her hair thinning and has started taking another vitamin and using a special shampoo...So many weird things have been happening...Just so glad they've taken care of Matt's problem and hoping for a quick recovery.....

Becca, another sunny day up here but not as warm...Hope your day is special....

Tina, Wow, what a stash and so neat! Love it........

I'm off and running again this morning but just a little trip...Need to pick up my RX and also, Baby Girl needs food AND treats...Then I'm stopping at Kevin's, need to drop off some things and check out his new carpets...Also, having seen his fur baby, Kessie, for awhile and sure don't want her to forget me. (Have to remember to stick treats in my pocket).....

For my dinner, probably lunch, I bought some different cheeses and a little lunch meat so I might just have a super sandwich and maybe some soup (If I get it made)....I have found, I've been eating lunch really late and then supper sometimes doesn't happen.....That's what happens when you cook just for yourself and have no set schedule......Sometimes good, sometimes bad.......

You all have a super rest of the day......Spring is almost here! :)

Happy eating................

Hi everyone!
I'm taking a short break! It's 70° outside at 80° inside 🥵 I'm still working on putting things away. I've filled and emptied a queen size bed 3 times 🤣😂🤪 today. I can't believe how much stuff was in that closet! 😱
Mary, the fabrics I have bundled from years agoi for a DWR quilt are pinks, greens, turquoise, a blue..... there's bunches of different colors LOL but I'd really like one from 30's too..... see what you started! 🤣😂
I only like my meatloaf, it's just simple.
Jana, I hope you're feeling better by now. I hope Matt is doing good.
Irish, sandwiches for supper sounds good to me! I get tired of being the only one cooking here sometimes.
Becca, we've had some happy birds around here lately too. I love when I sleep with the windows open in the warmer weather and I wake up hearing them. How long does it take you per block on the embroidery?
I'm making pork tenderloin for supper, that's all I know so far 🤷‍♀️
Well I guess my break is over plus I'll be starting supper soon because it's Dad's night.

Maryz - I haven't been happy with my meatloaf recipe either, however you made me look at BC for a different recipe. It is in the oven with baking potatoes. I will let you know tomorrow.

I would love to see eagles flying overhead. I get excited when I see Red Tailed Hawks!

Jana - I have heard from two friends who did have "flu like" symptoms for at least a day. One has rheumatoid arthritis. I think that has something to do with the reactions. So sorry you are a bit under the weather. So glad that Matt is home. I know you are all helping him.

Tina - Your shelves are wonderful! You have a lot of fabric to choose from.

Becca - I know how much you are enjoying the warmer weather. It is rather nice isn't it?

Hope everyone is sewing and enjoying their time.
Carol
