SUPPER CLUB - Wed, Feb 24th

Post by purrfect-lady » Wed Feb 24, 2021 6:10 am

Good morning,

We are 32* this morning. Brrr!! But no rain in the forecast. Poor Bill has his gutter repair project to finish. 14 feet up on the extension ladder. He's reinstalling 40' of gutter and has the last piece to put in, probably today. If his hands don't get too cold to operate the tools. Since it was a dry day yesterday we took the truck to HD and got our new vanity, toilet, paint, and more. I guess it's time to get serious on the bathroom remodel. Still waiting to hear what date our floor will be installed. I also hit the big fabric sale. I didn't spend near what I usually do, but did get stocked up on black, white, cream, greens, Americana, a cute blue Christmas flannel (for quilt back), and one pretty turquoise batik. I LOVE turquoise. It's kind of my signature color, I guess. My closet is half turquoise. Even my eyes are turquoise.

I've also talked myself into giving a Double Wedding Ring a try. I've decided I want to do it all in batiks but I'm not sure if I want a white, cream, or black background. I ordered a set of DWR templates and I guess when they come I'll make some arcs and then lay them out on various fabrics to decide.

I have no plan for today. That doesn't seem to matter - they fill up, plan or no plan!

BECCA - I pray your niece is OK. What kind of cancer does she have?

TINA - I'm excited to hear every day the progress being made on your fabric closet. I LOVE storage plans/solutions/containers/shelving. Actually, I think most women do.

JANA - Wow! Matt is going to be down for a while. Blood clots are serious. My sis couldn't take a shower for 2 months. She used baby wipes to clean up. I had a big surgery 25 years ago and couldn't get into our tub. We remodeled the master bath shortly after that and installed a walk-in shower just for such an occasion. It has come in hand several times since, not for us, thankfully, but for a few houseguests with injuries or disabilities.

MARY ROSE - so sorry you are down but hopefully we won't be counting you out just yet! Thank you for checking in. I tried to text you a few days ago, but I guess I don't have your number. Thinking of you!

CAROL - I know CA's Covid infx rate was so high in Jan because a lot was shut down as we drove through coming home from TX/CO. Wyoming's weather forced us to take the southern route after leaving my sister's in CO and CA was scaring us off. We almost decided to go north through NV. Glad to hear things are better now.

LORI - welcome home! Glad you found some bargains at the LQS. I agree - I try to support small businesses, too. I always buy something from the LQS's even if I don't really need it.

Tonite is going to be chili around here. And the way it always turns out in copious amounts, it will probably be chili for a few nights to come. I'll make cornbread, too. And salad. We have 3 heads of romaine to eat up.

Good morning!
Mary, sounds like you had fun all around yesterday, new bathroom things and new fabric! I hope Bill gets that gutter finished, maybe he should start hiring out jobs that require ladders though? I watched Jordan on the DWR video, love how she explains it and shows it so well, you've both convinced me to make one too LOL I'm printing the pattern along with the other 5 I've got marked and printed for making this year. Not much was accomplished on the closet yesterday, Frankie didn't start until after lunch and then he was super slow, I think us assembling the shelf for the FQ's till after 10 the night before last tired him out..... I've got my fingers crossed for today though.
Lori, I like to try to support our local businesses too, sometimes it may only be $10 but I think every little bit helps too.
I've been wanting to make some coleslaw so I gotta check the freezer and see if I have something to make with it LOL

Mary, I will send you a text with a picture of a DWR that I pieced. It is the second one that I made. They are fun. I really enjoy the process and they make really good stash busters. I will also send a picture of the fabric I finally chose for my DGD's wedding quilt.

Tina, your closet redo is really coming along. Can't wait to see the next update.

My braised pork chops with mushroom gravy turned out really scrumptious. Wish you could have joined me, but since you were unable to, I now will be having it for the rest of the week.

Mary, I tOo love turquoise. And batik. Are you making the DWR for you?

Tina, what color pallet will you use for yours? I really need to redo the sewing room.

Hi Mary Rose.

I have a sew day with friends today and tomorrow. So easy dinner. Maybe orange chicken and rice.

Have a lovely day.

Good morning from a very sunny, getting warm, almost or is spring like ( at least for today)......But, I think Jim had something to do with the sunshine...It was 3 years yesterday since he passed and he knew I needed something to cheer me up.....Hard to believe, 3 years.....
Hopefully most of the snow will be gone before Mother Nature decides to dump some more.....

Mary, what a productive day...Bathroom stuff and quilting stuff, you hit the jackpot! I like turquoise also but rarely use it...I'm sure you'll have no problem with the quilt, knowing you, you'll zip through it in no time.....I was also thinking of chili for tonight but my sister is picking me up and we're headed to Long John Silver's...But, not too worry, I get their chicken but she's been wanting to go there for weeks...And of course we'll stop at the Amish shop along the way and do some damage....It's so nice outside, we gotta do something, even if it's wrong!

Jana, Thinking of Matt and hoping he's recovering...I agree with Mary, blood clots can be very serious, personal experience on that....Have you heard anything on your new bed? Maybe it will be coming soon, you need some good news.....

Rosebud, Pork chops and mushroom gravy would be super good...I rarely make chops any more, just can't get them nice and tender....Hope today is a good day for you, no matter what you do......

Becca, if we're having sunshine, I'm sure you are too and your temps will probably be warmer than up here....But, it does feel good......We can now see a little green stuff poking through the melted snow....Ah, can't wait!

Tina, does Frankie know, we all are waiting for those shelves? Seems like a group project, lol....But, you are very lucky you have him and is able to do special projects like that......Today, when I go to Long John's, I might get cole slaw, just because you mentioned it......

Well, gotta get moving....Still have some things that need taken care of in the sewing room...Baby Girl has decided, it's her favorite room now and now I have to keep the mini blind, above the closed sewing machine, open for her to watch the happenings in the neighborhood...She really is a nosy little girl....Don't have to worry about making supper, maybe a bowl of cereal later tonight......It's going to be a great day.......

You all have a good rest of the day....

Happy eating.....................

Tina - love all those shelves!

Home from all the had to errands. Michael would not leave me home alone after the shot, for a just in case problem. I am wanting a nap, a advil, which I can't have for a couple of days, so my arthritis is going to have a field day!

Michael will fend for himself for dinner.

Naptime!

Hugs,
Jana
