SUPPER CLUB - Tuesday, Feb 23
Good morning,
We are 39 and breezy but for the most part, dry. Going to 46* today and the only rain predicted is supposed to happen at 0800, when I walk. Figures. Sigh.
Yesterday I got binding and label on my "Cabin on the Road" quilt and posted a photo. Then I did a few uglies and worked a little on my cross-stitch while listening to my audio book. We only have two more tops to quilt but we're almost out of batting. We buy it by the 40-yd bolt and pick it up at the W&N factory. So we measured the batting we have left and it will be my hand embroidered state birds/flowers that goes on the LA next. It will be a combo of Bill's Q-bot quilting and my free-hand. But we have some dry days coming up so he will want to be outside working on his gutter repairs. Plus he's started to work on our bathroom demolition and he will only fit quilting in when he is out of other things to do. Plus, his new computer arrived yesterday so he has a shiny new toy to play with. So my birds are going to take a while. A good opportunity for me to practice patience - something I'm not very good at.
The big sale at the LQS in Tacoma starts today so I might wander into town just to see what they have. I've been kind of looking over my stash and seeing what I might need to fill in the gaps. Nothing really pops out at me, but you never know what I might find.
TINA - I hope you get some sunny, dust-free days. I'm excited about your closet! Is Frankie all done yet? Are you starting to move in? We wanna see!! What a bummer about your dryer! A few years ago Autumn and Aaron bought a stacked W/D combo while we were down there and it quit within 6 months. Aaron, being Aaron, called Bill to ask advice and Bill reminded them they were still under warranty. But it's so disappointing that things so expensive are designed to not last very long these days.
LORI - did you find anything at the LQS yesterday? I saw in Sew-in you are flying home today. Fly safe!
JANA - so sorry to hear your Matt is back in the hospital. I hear blood clots are not uncommon after a bout with Covid. Prayers for him! And I'm so glad you were able to get an appt to get your shot - and that it's close by.
IRISH - you are really a nightowl! I'm afraid I couldn't keep up with you. Even when playing fun card games! And I do love games. We played a lot of Mexican Train and Racko with my sis and DBIL when we were in TX. You were up pretty early!. Poor Baby Girl! They do get confused when we alter our routines. Even going to DST will cause an uproar here! lol! Did you get to your fabric or your floss? Big jobs to sort out things like that. I'm thinking of cleaning a big bookcase we have in our office. What a mess it has become over the years. That should keep me off the streets for about 3 days!
BECCA - I Googled Baby Animal Embroidered Quilt and up popped Aunt Martha's #3047. Is this the one you are doing? If so, I like it! So vintage. Which is very trendy right now. Any hand embroidery these days is a treasure!
CAROL - I've never used grocery pick-up yet, but go to the store in person to shop. We only go about every 2 or 3 weeks and make it as quick as possible. We sanitize our hands going in and a few times while in the store and again when we come out. Masked, of course. And we steer clear of crowded aisles. I wonder if we'll ever be able to go back to a normal relaxed way of shopping or doing anything again. Or if it will be so ingrained in us to avoid others that this is our future.
Tonite's supper is going to be leftover lasagna from the freezer. And a salad. And I'm feeling a pot of chili starting to bubble up, so maybe that will be tomorrow's plan. With cornbread. Yummo!
Have you got a plan yet for tonite?

Hi everyone!
Mary, your On the Road quilt is so cool, you sure come up with creative ideas! Should I wish for rainy days for you? Probably not till after you get more batting huh. I hope you find some "can't pass up" deals at the big sale!! Frankie waited till after lunch to start the smaller base.... he likes to make me wait LOL I can't put anything in yet until he's finished because if the saw dust.
Becca, prayers for your niece.
Jana, prayers for Matt. I called Kevin last night and told him about your Matt and told him to watch out for pains and such.
I've got half of my big shelf emptied and sorted, I'll refold as I put it all in the shelves I think. I hope it all fits!

We assembled the shelf for the FQ's last night so it's all ready as soon as the base is in. I'm hoping to get everything back in and organized by this weekend.
I need to make a binding, get another quilt on Moxie and get the boys quilts going, they've been very patient. I'm going to have all my swap blocks out and ready to get on those after the boys ones.
Tonight is Dad's night, I'm making kielbasa and potatoes and green beans.

Good afternoon!
Between flakey internet, swearing, and looking for things to help Matt, not much here! LOL!
I searched and found a recliner in stock so Matt has a place to sit, rest, and sleep if needed. A flat bed might be a problem. Also a shower seat. Just got a update on Matt, he maybe coming home tomorrow or the next day. It appears he will set up a bed in his office at his house. And drive out to my house for his showers. I have a extra large shower and a bench already. I found three different recliners in stock, which was a task and a half. They are sitting in a cart, if and when we decide on which one. The meds did them a problem of lowering his BP too much, so they are fiddling with the dose.
Dinner we will do my Cafe Rio salad. I pulled and shredded a pork roast yesterday. Did you know a good trick to shred a pork roast or even chicken? Use the paddle attachment on your KitchenAid mixer and while the meat is hot, add small amounts and turn it on. Voile! Shredded without you getting messy! I did mine in several batches, removed it to another bowl, then did more.
Well, need to get some meal kits together for Crenda, to give her a hand. One less thing to think about. Sarah is helping me too.
Hugs,
Jana

Good afternoon. Sorry I haven't been around. I have been in meltdown mode for the last few days. Last night I started some pork chops cooking for braised pork chops. By the time I got started on them it was too late to make a whole meal. My plan was to make braised chops with mushrooms, mashed potatoes, and a green veggie. Tonight I will make the potatoes and veggies and I will be set for the rest of the week.

Maryz - I started using pickup about a month ago when the numbers in Los Angeles County were peaking. I just did not feel safe. The numbers are down now by 90% of what they were January 10th or so. I will probably go back to shopping myself very soon.
Your quilt is just beautiful!
Jana - You must be beside yourself with worry for Matt! I am so sorry. Please know he is in my prayers.
Tina - Getting a room organized takes time. Once you have it organized it will be such a pleasure to work in. Glad you are taking the time.
Becca - Embroidered animals sound very cute for a baby quilt! I haven't had beef stew in a very long time! Enjoy it!
Mary/Rosebud - I am so sorry you are down. My prayers remain with you! ((HUGS))
Dinner tonight will be Pasta and Meat Sauce (Ground Turkey).

Mary, of course I found some things at the Sew and Save quilt shop. A small kit for a project bag, some Riley Blake fusible fabric ready to create something fun, a little project foldable box thingy, thread, scissors, pins, an apron pattern for my girlfriend, and a few other little things. I like to support small business.
Jana, so glad to hear Matt is coming home.
I'm home safe. No issues with the aircraft. 4 1/2 hours door to door. Don't know what's for dinner tonight.
I'll have to check the fridge and see what I have. Maybe something on the BBQ. It was 80 degrees when I got home. The weather is beautiful.
Have a lovely evening.
