Good morning!

We had a mostly sunny afternoon yesterday and 50*. Today will be more of the same. The snow is about gone now. I love the it, but not the slushy "snow soup" that lingers when it starts to melt. I didn't get a lot of sewing accomplished yesterday, but did bind reindeer and cut binding for Christmas Swap which I'll put on this morning. Next on the LA will be the log cabin, but not for a few days, I'm betting. Now I have to get busy on some labels. But we did get the house cleaned yesterday. And the flooring guy is coming by this afternoon for to measure our stairs and upstairs bathroom. After his visit, I guess we'll start getting serious with the toilet/sink/vanity shopping. Not getting a new tub. It's old, but we had it refinished years ago and since then no one has used the tub but the occasional guest so it's still looking pretty good. I dust it now and then.

BECCA - have fun planning the baby quilt. I embroidered one for my first DGS (he's now 27). DD hung it on the wall of his room for a year, but then packed it away. I've done a quilt of old world Santas all in redwork for Lara, but boy, did I get tired of red! And I did a Halloween quilt for Autumn of 15" blocks called "Hocuspocusville" all in dark brown but did one small accent of orange in each block - usually a pumpkin. I was so done with that color by the end of the quilt! I have the pattern to do "Over the Hill to Gramma's House" by Crabapple Hill and when I do it - some day (it's a bucket list item) - I'm going to use colors! And talking about it with you makes me want to get it out and get started.

JANA - ahh - you're the on asked about my bucket list. I knew it was someone! And now that you mention it - yes, I've always wanted to do a Baltimore Album. And a Double Wedding Ring, Irish Chain, and Crazy Quilt. Crazy quilts fascinate me, I think, because my mom had one on her bed in my earliest memory and I would lay on the bed and pet the different fabrics and feel the texture of the few velvet pieces and the hand embroidery she did on it. I was probably only 3 yrs old. I do have mine about 1/3 finished. So what is on your bucket list? Poor Sarah. She does keep her doctors on their toes! Hoping she gets a diagnosis soon - one she can live with - and start getting treatment.

IRISH - sorry you had to cancel your travel plans but, trite as it sounds, better safe than sorry. Though someone who has made it to 91 is probably pretty tough! Is your mailbox at your house or do you have to go somewhere to pick it up? Our mail goes to a box at the UPS store 2 miles away. We get it about 2x/wk. Eagles are tough, aren't they! They are the purrfect symbol for our country!

No cooking here tonite. We're finally going out to eat! I'm not sure I'll know how to act in a restaurant, it's been so long! We'll be dining at our favorite Italian restaurant, Il Lucano's, just down the hill from us. Our postponed anniversary supper. Friends, Doyle and Susie will be joining us. I'm already trying to decide what to have.

What's going to be bubbling in your pot tonite?

Good morning! I'm trying to stop by early since I don't seem to have much time later lately. I haven't gotten my fabric folded yet but I have been going through closet stuff. I found 2 full brown paper bags of trash plus 2 empty boxes that I don't know why I was keeping. I want to go through a drawer today and see what's in there that is either trash or just to reorganize the drawer and reacquaint myself with what's in it. I have a bunch of orphan blocks gathered up and put in one of those breathable see through zippered things. I put all my books back yesterday, they were in the big cabinet that we moved to a different wall facing a different direction. I think it said my shelves will be here between the 22nd to the 26th? I'll have to check my tracking. Frankie has been going in there pretty often and making sure he knows what I'm wanting. Last night I was explaining that I'd like a shelf put under Moxie so I could slide some of the bigger totes under it until I work through the fabric and the lint from quilting wouldn't just fall on the totes and in between, he's on board and worked out a plan last night!
I finally talked Dad into buying a new recliner and it's a lift chair! I'll most likely be the one to go shampoo is carpet before it can be delivered though. His carpet needs to be ripped up and laminate flooring put down, the carpet is really bad. I use bleach in the shampooer when I do it.
Mary, I remember your embroidered quilts, they were gorgeous! I don't seem to be able to see good enough to do tv work plus my hands don't like me holding small things. I'll watch you from the sidelines and enjoy all what you do 😊 Happy eating out tonight! ❤❤
Jana, I hope they find out what's wrong with Sarah.
Becca, Holly finally got her water fixed yesterday, it was the box Frankie replaced plus a switch got stuck. It only took the well people maybe 10 minutes to fix it, they charged her $50 out of their usual $80. They were out all day yesterday fixing those little switches and other minor problems. I hope she's gotten her dishes and laundry caught back up, it's hard to get caught back up once you've gotten behind with 5 people especially. Her power was off for about 4 hours yesterday so she just stayed here till about 11am, she took a bath and relaxed and felt better. She couldn't teach her zoom class yesterday because all her stuff is set up at her house and no electricity, no internet so she had a morning off.
I'm supposed to have all 3 kids again today. It was a busy day yesterday, cooked breakfast for 6, cleaned the kitchen, did zoom with Easton, vacuumed, did Easton's other zoom, made bed, cleaned bathrooms, did lunch, cleaned kitchen, helped Easton with school work, did some in my sewing room throughout the day, made supper, cleaned kitchen, tried to read some in my book for a little but kept almost falling asleep so went in my sewing room and did some more LOL I think I sat down about 8:30 last night but was back to going through stuff at 9... I just couldn't sit still yesterday. I went to bed at 11:30.
Hmmmmmm supper tonight will be something made with hamburger, maybe a meatloaf, I haven't made that in ages it seems, plus potatoes, carrots and green beans to go with.
Tina

Good afternoon!

Well, there is over a foot of new snow at my house. Michael went out and shoveled. More, but not as much is still coming. So pretty outside. Aaron and the troopers were handling more than 100 crashes, just in Salt Lake county this morning. Aaron will be glad for his days off, starting tomorrow.
The ski resorts across the valley got over 4 feet of new snow. This storm was so needed as it brought up the totals closer to normal.

Sarah's Dr appointment was the normal first time appointment. Blood work and history. No definitive signs one way or the other. A little of this problem, and a little of the other. The Dr did put her on a anti-inflammatory drug. So wait and see, what we always do.

Not much else here. Did Kate and Aaron's taxes last night. They get a nice refund. Should be down in the Batt Cave doing ours, oh, so not in the mood! Quilting is better, even ripping out mistakes 9n a quilt block is better!

Dinner - this is soup or chili weather. Chili may win out with a piece of warm cornbread, slathered in butter and honey. Heck, just the cornbread would be my dinner!

Mary - those are great bucket list quilts. The biggest two on my list is a Baltimore Album and and Double Wedding Ring. I did start a DWR once, but punted it. Still know how to do it, stripped pieced, using John Flynn's method. Maybe I will try again......

Becca - sounds like a successful run out today. I haven't cut my hair, since before all this started and it is now down to the middle of my back. Probably not getting cut any time soon.

Lori - snow is letting up, Thursday, but more on Friday and the rest of the weekend. If you are driving, it looks like the only problem will be the Beaver - Scipio passes on I-15. They are always bad. Sunday on is warming and no snow.

Stay Safe!
Hugs,
Jana

Good afternoon from a very cold but very sunny Sw. Pa...Boy, what a difference that sun makes...I've actually felt like doing something, even if it's wrong (as our late friend, Bob, always said)....

Mary, so glad you're finally getting your "dinner out" evening...It is strange, that 1st time you go out after being cooped up for so long...And still, I find, when my sister asks where I want to eat, I'll say, Home!...
And I cannot believe you've never made an Irish Chain, of all people, YOU! That's my "go to" quilt for wedding gifts...Everyone in our family has one and if I don't know their favorite color, they get one made in shades of green...But, when a niece told me, Red and black, I just shook my head but that quilt turned out to be one of the favorites...It really is pretty, very striking! In fact, I'm thinking, maybe I need a new one for my bed but in shades of green, I think......My mail box is through my yard, across the street and down 2 houses...It would take me longer to get the car started and backed out of the drive than to walk to get my mail, lol.....But, when I checked my e-mail, I do have a bunch of cards from the kids so I need to pick them up......

Becca, you have been busy running today...I haven't been to the Library since before the pandemic...But, Kathy gave me a Book of the Month membership that is very appreciated..And when my friend moved here, she gave me a tote full of books from when she cleaned out her house to sell...But, I do miss the Library.....Not sure about your age but I'm 83...Mary was referring to my friend, Virginia in Florida...She turned 91 on Valentine's Day...And boy is she a tough nut! I was very surprised to hear her say, she was waiting to get the vaccine...She's very anti doctor, is diabetic but takes nothing but her insulin, no meds at all and will have an old time remedy for anything that ails you...Even when she was hit by a car a few years ago, she wouldn't go to the hospital....But, could be her family has talked her into the shot.....My foot is coming along...I don't have to keep it wrapped but it does swell if I'm on it too long..Most of the time, I don't notice, until I'm going out and have to put on shoes, lol..

Tina, I agree with Becca, take a breather! You really do keep busy, makes me tired just thinking about it.....I was thinking chili the other day and instead made a meat loaf, just because I like left over meat loaf sandwiches with my home made relish...Next week will be chili.....

Jana, Another "chili" house....I also agree, the snow is pretty, when it 1st comes but after days and days, I've had enough...I've gotten, if I see a flake, I just close the mini blinds or pull the drapes....My hair used to be down my back and when Kathy was 6 months old, I had it cut, pretty short...Well, she cried because she didn't know me...That was back in 1960 and I've had short hair ever since....

And in talking about the mail box, I think I'm going to put on the boots and take a hike....For my dinner, this being Ash Wed. I did make a banned "mac & cheese" casserole....And when I was cooking the noodles, I remembered a small head of cabbage so I then made, noodles and friend cabbage (can't spell the real name)....(And of course I shouldn't be eating the cabbage so it might be a tummy aching evening...) The casserole is in honor of Jim, that was his favorite.....

You all have a great rest of the day......Stay warm, stay safe.....

Happy eating..................
