Good rainy morning,

Thank you all for the anniversary good wishes. He's almost through the probationary period so this may just work out! ;)

We had a few more inches of snow yesterday for a total of 12-14" but it will be history soon. It's been raining all night and it's going to be raining for days to come. I bet we can even get out our driveway today except for the berm of snow at the end that the county plows left us. Some snow slid off the RV shelter roof and took the gutter with it, so that will be a project for Bill in better weather.

Yesterday I got my log cabin blocks together. Today - borders and backing. And maybe binding for the reindeer quilt. But I should do laundry, have a chiro appt if we can get out the driveway, and I hope to see a doctor about my ear. I'm also still waiting on the fabric I ordered for my "Get Together" quilt. It's been holding in the "Pending File" until that fabric arrives.

CAROL - congratulations on your Zoom quilt show! I'm sure you are a big part of it's success. Good call on the take-out. Getting home while it's still hot is always a problem for us, too, and we live only 1-3 miles from any restaurant in Gig Harbor.

JANA - what your Michael said about driving in a foot of snow is exactly what my Bill said. Men! They must rehearse in secret! lol! But maybe we can get out today. Hope so. I think the roads are clear. Glad the desk got moved and you can still fit 'just one more thing' into that room! Did you get your winter picnic this weekend? How was the big birthday party last night? It sounded like so much fun! I miss family get-togethers.

BECCA - My plan is definitely to see a doc ASAP. Just not sure who is seeing patients with the pandemic and now with the snowstorm here. Hoodsport always gets a lot more snow than we do, even though it's only about an hour and 15 minutes from us.

TINA - I LOVE organizing! I label everything so I can see at a glance what is where. I would love to come organize your sewing room. Before long, though, you would be kicking me out because I'm told I can get bossy when I get into a project like that. One thing I do is fold all fabric the same so the stacks are tidy. I keep all my general quilting fabric in one cabinet sorted by color. But specialty fabrics like 30's, evergreens, cats, patriotic, Civil War, stripes, etc, are in another cabinet. I stack them on top of each other as room permits, but put a piece of cardboard in between each category of fabric. I make a small label and pin it to the top fold of fabric in each category. My eye picks up immediately what I'm looking for. Batiks are all on one shelf (sorted by color) in another part of my sewing room. I have a LOT of Christmas fabric so it's all sorted by general color and each color is in a small clear tote that I can easily lift. The totes are stacked under my work table. Out of the way but in plain sight.

LORI - I'm with you - When I'm in a swap or lotto, I try to get the blocks together when they arrive. I know what happens if I don't. But if I can't get to them right away, they stay in a labeled Ziplock (God bless the person who invented those!) and they go into the 12x12x3" UFO tote. And that tote stays out in plain sight so I don't forget them or lose them. That tote is empty now, by the way. :D

We did have to cancel our dinner reservation last night but that was OK. The chicken parm was good and I even did find some parmesan after all! And since we aren't heavy eaters, we have enough left for tonite as well.

How about you? What might you be having for your supper?

Good morning!
We stayed at 18° for over 12 hours, we're at 19° now! A real heatwave 🤣😂🤣😂 we have snow everywhere!
I've been working on getting the laundry finished that I didn't get to yesterday. I've been trying to keep water running so it is less apt to freeze. Holly has been out of water since yesterday afternoon I guess. Frankie tried to go fix it but she didn't let him know until almost dark so he only tried for a little while. Our wind chill factor was 6°! No wind so far this morning. Our son, Kevin had to go out yesterday morning and he worked 21 hours in this stuff! He barely got back home.
Mary, I'd probably take you up on that offer LOL I'd let you have free range!
I'm going to be folding fabric I think today. We don't have the shelves yet but if I get as much ready as I can then it'll go faster when I get my shelves. I'd really like Frankie to build them for me because they would be solid wood instead of whatever stuff shelves are made from these days.... particle board I think 🤷‍♀️
I'm thinking it'll be a soup day today, just gotta see what I have as to what kind it'll be.
Tina

Good morning!

Snowing lightly here and we are about 25 now. The wind is blowing, so I will stay in! Sure glad that I got those fleece lined pants for Aaron! Between those and all the gear he has to wear, including a bullet proof vest, he should be warm.

My backing fabric arrived. It sat in the mailbox for a couple of days and now is in quarantine until I get the spray out in a bit. We do this routine with all packages.

Not much going on here. Dinner was wonderful with the family. Smudge, a large , very loveable kitty, perched in my lap most of the night. Time for loves and time to stay safe out of Lila's reach. Lila is still learning to pet a kitty, without mauling them.

Mary - we leave the berm where the plow goes through, it diverts the slushy salt from eating up my concrete driveway. Yes, those two must conspire. Michael just says, that men are always right. Sure they are! LOL!

Tina - oh you are cold! Hope Holly's water problem is a quick fix.

I do fold all my fabric in the same way, so it fits in my wall of baskets. I can see each piece as it is in the basket, by color. I have some that are sorted again by either light or dark, in their own basket. My rulers are separated too, by function. Square ups in one drawer, triangles in another, and special use in their own. My other sewing notions are grouped together as well. My thread for embroidery on my machine are in three thread cases, in color order, just like I did when I worked in a fabric store. My projects are in clear plastic boxes, and labeled. Costco had some at one time and my other boxes are from JoAnn's- Artbins - but only when they were on sale at least 50% off. I do love organization! The time you take, enables you to be more efficient! You should see my kitchen cupboards or my pantry storage. The one thing I have learned, is, you must do the organizing your way, what works for you, how your brain works. If you don't, it doesn't stay organized. Learn your way and then it does work.

Dinner - we haven't had our picnic yet, so that will be dinner. I think a small potato salad will go with the sandwich and brownie bites for afters.

Stay Safe!
Hugs,
Jana

Good Morning,
We took my car for an oil change this morning. No problem being without a car these days!

I made a New Year's resolution to walk at least 7500 steps every day. Yesterday was a real challenge because it was so windy here, however I did finally make it at 7532 steps. There isn't any wind today so it will be much easier to make the goal!

Dinner was delicious last night. For dessert I made a boysenberry cobbler. I had frozen the filling last spring and just had to heat it up before adding the topping. It is very good! Nice fresh fruit filling! Yum!

Today I am sewing (and walking). Dinner tonight will be Chicken Teriyaki with rice.
