We were 28* this morning but warming to 41* this afternoon with a bit of sunshine. Tomorrow will be a different story - lower temps and possible snow. Up to 8" in some areas by the weekend. Most years we don't get any snow, so everyone is pretty excited about the forecast. Some are happy excited and some less so.

Yesterday I worked on log cabins. Then took a break and made kitchen sink cookies. (added choc chops, nuts, craisins, coconut, oatmeal), and did a few other kitchen chores. 3 hours later I was back in the sewing room. I ended the afternoon with a few hours of yardwork. With bulbs up and snow coming, maybe I should have left the fall leaves to protect my flowers . . . . Oh well . . . Bill was quilting my reindeer quilt with a snowflake pattern but a wire on his Q-bot broke. He didn't have enough to repair it so he had to order it. So all quilting has stopped until that comes. Last Sunday my CHI iron just simply stopped heating after a week of leaking and then the handle started heating up. It was only 10 months old. This is my third iron to quit after less than a year. And I was surprised to find how hard it is to find irons in stores. I went to three and the only ones to choose from were a basic Black and Decker and Rowentas. So, while I'm no fan of Rowentas, (I've had two), I now have a third one.
Tina, thanks for all the recipes. I do have a 10oz can of red enchilada sauce in my pantry. (and one of green). But I'll look for dry red chilies next trip to the store.
Jana, I hope Daniel finds his place in the sun. We chatted up several folks in campgrounds while traveling. Most of them want out of CA. Taxes are killing them and they see very little return on their taxes - parks, highways, etc are falling into disrepair. We have lots of CA folks relocating here. So, polenta - please correct me, but isn't that simply cornmeal mush? My mom made it now and then and chilled the leftovers in a loaf pan, sliced it, and fried it next day. That's what I call polenta though I season it different ways. Occasionally I'll buy a tube of it in the store. So, if you spread it while it's still 'mush', is that what you're talking about for tamales? you can tell, I'm really hooked on trying to make them. And tomorrow is the day! Glad you got your vehicles de-smudded.
BECCA - good to hear your little DGGD is improving. They say once you have pneumonia you are more prone to having it again. Asthma can complicate things. Both my DD's have it (as did my dad). Lara has had pneumonia twice and Autumn once. Nice to have handwork of any kind to work on. It soothes me. Usually. And then you have a pretty gift to give to a visitor when they stop by. Hopefully little Hadlee's dr appt was just a routine check? How is Brodee?
IRISH - how is your foot doing? You know how we worry, especially if you are out traipsing the yard. Please traipse carefully. I'm SOO happy to hear the eaglets are back with mom and dad and they are all one big happy family again. I wonder what Mom and Dad think. That salt/slush mixture on a car can be nasty. In Alaska, some of the gravel roads are coated with calcium. Now THAT is hard to get off your vehicle! It cakes on and hardens. It's like chipping away at tooth tarter. And when it's on your 1-ton pick-up and your fifth-wheel you spend a long time in the car wash! What are you crocheting? I can crochet long strings. That's about it. And yet I have a complete set of crochet hooks all sizes! lol! And I agree, come good weather, you need to take a trip west. Put me on your itinerary! Not sure our Mexican food here is authentic, but probably more than PA's.

Tonite we're invited to friends, Doyle and Susie, for turkey soup. I've been assigned dessert so I'm going to make key lime bars and oatmeal brownies.
How is your supper plan coming along?
