SUPPER CLUB - Saturday, Feb 6

Good morning
We are breezy this morning but so far no rain. 30% that it's coming though. But our afternoon should be partly sunny and 48*. If our 18mph wind dies down, maybe I'll go back outside and do some more yard work then. I worked out yesterday for 2-1/2 hrs raking old leaves, weeding, and fertilizing the rhodies and other shrubs. Lots more to do, though we've simplified our yard a lot so it's not so hard to keep up now. I also got some sewing in. Today - sewing, maybe yard work. We have too many large trees to be outside if it's windy. Bill thinks he'll be done quilting Norm and Nanette so I will have another binding to do, too. I'm hoping he'll keep on keeping on. There are 3 more tops to quilt. Though one (state birds) will be a combo of his computerized patterns and my freehand stippling.
BECCA - Your post yesterday made my mouth water! So much yummy at your house!
MARY ROSE - I think applying for SS Disability might be a consideration, but you probably have to have a diagnosis first. And I wonder what that would do to your HD retirement. I am praying daily for things to work out for you.
IRISH - I hope your sis decides to downsize if that's what she wants. We finally realized our kids are all better off than we are so we do what we want with no consideration as to how it will affect them. Bill's uncle denied him (and his wife up until she died 5 yrs before him) everything, lived in a little 800' house that was falling down around his ears, saying he couldn't afford anything. Turns out he left a 3 Million dollar estate! Sad he didn't spend a little on himself! Oh, and I'm praying for those little eaglets that their parents return soon. I bet there are a lot of eyes on that camera!
TINA - your post exhausted me, so I can only imagine how tired you were at the end of your day! We saw the news about your officer shooting. I felt so badly for his young wife with soon to be four kids. Been there, barely survived that. Is there a fund being set up for her and the kids?
LORI - about the tamales, the last ones I ordered at Moctezuma's were the ones that were all masa and little meat. And up here, most Mexican restaurants don't even have tamales on the menu. So I really think I'm going to give them a try. If I get stuck I can always call Tina!
Last night's supper was red beans and rice, a traditional Cajun meal. I was actually following a real recipe but, being who I am, I went rogue and added Rotel tomatoes and diced green chilies, which are traditionally Mexican or Southwest. Is this what they mean by Fusion Cuisine? Anyway, it was really good. Bill liked it a lot, so I noted my additions on my recipe. Good thing, because we ended up with a large pot of it so that will be on the menu for tonite, too. And a salad.
What's your plan for tonite's feast?
