Good morning!
It's Ground Hog Day! How is everyone celebrating? I think I'll celebrate in my sewing room, working on tiny 9-patches. Isn't the movie all about repeating each day? With Covid, it seems all our days here are just about the same - Eat, Sleep, Sew, Repeat. Even our supper was a repeat last last night! Though we did go to the Farm & Garden store yesterday and bought DEF for the pick-up and a bag of Rhodedendron food. And on the way home we picked up our mail. Got out of the house for an exciting 5-mile round trip! Whoo Hoo! Even the dog got to go!
MARY ROSE - it's so good to see you post! We've been worried about you. I hope they can figure out what's going on with you soon and have you on the path to good health. And that you get the time off you need. Thanks for checking in. Saying prayers for you!
TINA - I don't mean to sew quickly. In fact, I actually am slow. I just have nothing much else to do with most of my days - no family, no yard work (right now), no job - so I sew. And sew. And sew. I'm just an old sew'n'sew!
JANA - How much painting got done yesterday? And yes, the desk definitely needs to go! To another room, to the basement, to the garage, to the curb. I'm voting with you! lol!
BECCA - I think you are embroidering dishtowels, right? What patterns are you using? I love the old-fashioned embroidered towels and have several sets I've received as gifts. I've made several sets, too, and given them as gifts. I love embroidery.
IRISH - thanks for the eagle report but bummer that the babies had to be removed from the nest. I hope they get back soon. The poor parents! They are probably out looking for that owl! Maybe you should just leave the snow on the porch for the sun or a son to deal with. Isn't that why your foot is in a boot now?? Icy porch steps?! I don't like hemming pants either, but Bill is only 5'7", and I'm not even 5', so I do a lot of hemming! How is Terry doing in his new house and new life?
LORI - I grew up on a farm, where, if a car drove by, we all stopped to watch it. I still live just 2 miles from that farm on 2-1/2 acres of woods, so, while life (and traffic) has picked up quite a bit, I still get a little wide-eyed when we go to Tacoma, let alone Seattle. I'd probably freak a bit if I had to live in a big city now. Before she moved to TX in 2012, Autumn used to live not far from the Burbank airport near Atwater area. Then she moved to South Pasadena. The closest we could get our RV to her was KOA in Pomona - about 20 miles from her. I'm on my third postage stamp quilt made solely from 1-1/2" squares. But life is short. This will probably be my last one of those!
Supper tonite is going to be pork chops. I'm going to put them into the crockpot in an apricot sauce. Or maybe plum. Still deciding that. I'm making this up as I go along. And we'll have jasmine rice and salad with it. There will be extra if you want to join us!

Good morning!
Cold, bright and sunny.
Aaron had one of those weird days yesterday. Had us all laughing at what some people do! He was working out of his normal area, helping out in the Park City area. This driver sped up, and passed him, then slowed way down in front of Aaron and while driving, opened and closed the driver's door, and waving out the open door. Aaron wondered, what in the world, so stayed behind, waiting to see if the guy pulls over and Aaron radioed for a trooper to assist. A trooper came and the guy then took off, trying to out run the trooper. Didn't succeed and finally pulled over. The guy was higher than a kite on cocaine. Then the fun story comes out, the guy expected Aaron to refuel the car's gas tank on the fly, as they drove down the road! The guy told the trooper that Aaron was not helping and was very mean, etc. Aaron never even got out of his truck. The troopers were doing all they could to keep proper demeanor as they hauled the guy off to jail. They all had a good laugh, later.
Dinner here is leftover polenta and sauce with salad.
Mary - oh how I wish that rhodies would grow here. They are one of my favorite flowers. Every spring, as a child,, we would take a drive over to San Francisco to see the rhodies in bloom in Golden Gate Park.
Well, time to go get going on a quilt for my bed. J7st need to load it and meander quilt it.
Stay Safe,
Hugs,
Jana

Becca, Embroidery was my first needle craft too. I leaned at 8 and have loved it ever since.
Jana, Good thing he didn't make contact with the idiot. People on drugs are so unpredictable.
Mary, Scottie got to take a road trip. Yay! Wrigley loves to go in the car. He hangs his head out the window and drools down the side of my Tahoe. Jack just sits and is very quiet. I think he might get car sick.
On the way home from Utah, he sat in the front seat the whole way.
I've been sorting though my books and magazines again. Getting rid of things I will never use. Now it I would just stop buying more. We got the roses cut back and beds amended earlier this week. So they are ready for spring.
Today is late lunch, no dinner. DH is golfing. It's a beautiful morning. Going to hit 72 today.

Good afternoon from yet another snowy but sunny day in SW. Pa....Yep, got up to more snow and now we have a total of 8 1/2 inches but sitting here at the desk, looking out at the empty field across from me, it really is pretty.....But, once again, I had to push that snow around, just to get my garbage can off the curb and of course get my newspaper...The person who delivers is good at getting it close to the front steps, now if I could just train them to toss it on the porch......
Mary, you old "Sew n Sew", love it except for the old! Just want you to know, you visited my dream last night...Most of my dreams take place where I was born, in the house way before my sister and her family took over and remodeled.....But, you were visiting and you and some of my kids went to see someone but when you got back you promised to bake a peach pie..I even told you I had premade crust but you said, no way, you'd make your own....OK, Mary, I'm still waiting for that pie! I was also hemming a pink dress which was really ugly...I really should have my dreams looked into......
Getting Kevin to come over and shovel my snow would mean he'd have to shovel his own 1st and he really prefers to let it just melt...For someone who was out the door very early in the AM, he is loving every minute of his retirement...He's my funny kid, always has a story, much like Jana's boys...He does his grocery shopping as soon as the store opens but not to wake Kessie (the dog), he'll put his clothes in the living room the night before....Terry and his wife are doing fine...They are both working from home and loving it....And you did mention you like to walk in the snow, we'll come on over, you'd really have fun......
Jana, I agree with you, desk should be moved but I can understand how some do get attached to certain things....Aaron should be writing a book...He's really had some experiences, hasn't he?
Becca, Hoping your not snowed in, too much.....We've had so many things closed around here, it's best to call, not that I'd be going out, not even thinking about it.....And thinking back, learning to embroidery was my 1st and I've loved it ever since.....And you're right about nature being cruel...We all learn about nature but we do get so attached to these creatures, it's heart breaking when something happens...
Zfatcat (I love that)...72 degrees on Feb. 2nd is unhead of and I'm extremely green with envy....I'm about to start counting the days until spring....AND I don't know why I complain, I don't have to go out (well to get my paper), I'm quite comfy in my little house.....Your day sounds perfect, enjoy......
Here I am saying I don't have to go any where BUT, if I want a super, home cooked dinner, I need to get to my sister's tonight......She called and told me, she was cooking and would even have one of her boys come and get me....So, I'm thinking, stuffed meatloaf, mashed potatoes, gravy, a veggie and I'm sure something special for dessert is really hard to pass up, right?????
You all have a great rest of the day......
Happy eating..................

Good afternoon! As usual, I haven’t been around much. Life just seems to get in the way. As for groundhog day… my life just rotates around cooking, cleaning, dog walking and sewing when I get a break.
Tina, I know you were making 9-patches, now MaryZ, and I’ve joined in. This latest great grandbaby is “There’s A Dog on My Quilt” by Billie Lauder. Mom made it several times for boys, but I’m doing it in 30s pinks to the baby from her dog brothers. Haven’t decided what I’m doing from me yet.
We got our first Covid jab with no ill effects. DH had a sore arm, but I didn’t.
MaryRose—sure hope they find out what’s causing all your difficulties! Getting anything done around here is beyond impossible with the Covid cutbacks in services.
Irish—so sorry about the eaglets’ problems! Be careful with that snow (and ice)! I’m the family alterations and mending lady. Love your family update! We seldom get enough snow any more for walks through the woods.
Becca—I love the dishtowels, too! Mom used to make them.
Lori—at one time my aunt lived very near Disneyland. The kids could walk over to the park. The Hooligans love “Road trip!” and are always ready to go… anywhere.
Jana—glad Aaron’s almost encounter was pretty harmless and got solved without injuries. I loved Golden Gate Park!!! It was so beautiful. We lived in an apartment building (in what is now slums), so the Park was our place to go for green.
Dinner tonight here—I’m thinking I’ll make a quiche and have something different. The leftovers can ride another night. I think DH may be getting tired of them.
Bon appétit!

Well bummer, I posted this morning, but apparently didn't submit it. I was looking for a photo I wanted to add to the post and got sidetracked by a phone call from Dr's office. The barium x-ray appointment is scheduled for 8:15 Thursday morning, followed by my hospital follow up appointment with my primary Dr at 10:00.
Disability insurance denied my medical leave. I would sure appreciate your prayers for God to lead me in the direction He wants me to take regarding returning to work or continue to stay home until I know my body will handle being at work.
When doing ruler work, does it require a special type of ruler, or can the regular rotary cutting rulers be used?
Supper tonight was some Chinese rice that Charles (DS) made.

Mary/Rosebud - You are confused because people call it ruler work. They are really quilting templates. No you cannot use rulers you use for rotary cutting. Templates are usually thicker depending on the kind of machine. There are quilting templates made for domestic machines, but you need a special foot to use them.
I will keep you in my prayers that the disability does come through and that the doctors are able to find out what is wrong.
