Good stormy morning!
We’ve got hard rain and thunder and lightning this morning. I hope there is a break somewhere during the day. We have laundry to do and we have to carry the clothes about 50 yards. We may drive them instead!
We said goodbye to Autumn yesterday which is always hard. But not so bad for me this time as she seems so much happier now. We really like the new man in her life and in a private moment I asked her if she thought we might keep him and she fairly sparkled when she told me she thought we probably would.
Tina passed her practice run getting into the back of the pick up. This trip is going to be difficult but we can do it! And she was quite alert and cheerful sitting up in their dining booth last night with her foot propped on a stool. And she was able to get another bottle of pain pills for the trip. She has an appointment with her own orthopedic surgeon January 6
I finished my Nanette blocks Yesterday. So now they and my machine are packed away until we get home to WA.
Irish, I know how you feel about sisters! Some days are golden and others, you want to shove them off a cliff! But I have to say, The last few years this sis (8 Yrs older) and I have been getting closer. But I have a younger sister (1yr younger) who has very little interest in either of us and lives only 3 mi from older sis.

. And I’m running low on brothers. I have the same cleaning lady as you. And sometimes she gets very lazy. I have to invite company over just to get her to move!
Jana, happy birthday to Ethan! Can’t believe he’s nine. Seems like you just found out he was joining your family as a newborn! So happy to hear Matt came home from the hospital!
Tina, how is your dad doing these days? And Kevin? And we need a report on how you like your new machine! What have you done on it so far?
Lori, when we get home I am going to Trader Joe’s and get some of that orange chicken. I want to give it a try. It always sounds delicious when you have it.
Becca, I never heard of rooster comb shots. When you mentioned them I envisioned a short series of shots of Cortizone placed vertically in the knee. Boy, was I wrong!
Well today is laundry, vacuuming, and sweeping. I was going to mop the floors but since it’s such a rainy day, I don’t think there is any point. They can wait until we get to Colorado. We will stay there until after my sisters orthopedic appointment and make sure they are settled. Perhaps five days - and then figure out the best route home with weather being the main consideration.
I am putting a turkey breast into the crockpot this morning. Going to make mashed potatoes and gravy and some kind of vegetable. Maybe green beans. And Red lobster biscuits
What is your New Year’s Eve supper looking like?

Becca, that's not good to have your BP drop like that. Hope whatever you are doing now works for you.
Mary, laundry in the rain does not sound fun. I know how you feel about saying good bye to your kids.
The older I get, the harder it is. Glad you got things moving forward to take you sis home.
Carol, laughter is the best medicine.
Just going to do the usual today. I haven't sewn much the last few weeks. Just not in the mood.
For dinner we will have tamales, spanish rice and beans.
Happy new year my quilty friends.

Happy New Year’s Eve! Look what the cat (dogs in this house) dragged in for the end of the year. I finally finished my Christmas sewing—before the end of the year and started a new list for next year. Christmas was quiet—just the two of us. Son and DIL have covid and hopefully are getting better, and another son and DIL were in quarantine. DGD and family were also in quarantine. I’m going to be so glad when we can get the vaccine and can avoid the disease or if we get sick have light cases. DS has been pretty sick. He is a paramedic and had avoided it so far.
We had more news over Christmas—now we have to more great grandbabies arriving in 2021! I’ll be working on a quilt for the May arrival when we find out the sex. The other will be a surprise, but I have fabric on hand that should work.
Irish—I have 2 sisters and know how you feel. My total electric home has too many doggies, dirt road, gravel drive and Kansas wind to stay clean. The Big Dog tracks in more than the 4-legged ones!
Mary—Hope the trip goes well with your sister. She has really been through the ortho incidents! Bummer on the storms when you need to get out. Hard to leave your baby, but sounds like she will be in good hands! He sounds like a keeper! Glad to hear she is sparkling!
Jana—I saw your beautiful kitchen! WOW! I know you enjoy cooking and using it. No way can Ethan be 9! Happy birthday to him! So glad to hear Matt is out of the hospital; now to make a complete recovery!
Becca—those shots do not sound like fun! Glad you have help!!!
Tina—hope Kevin is doing better! Are you getting some time off for vacation from the schooling?
Lori—Your orange chicken sounds delish! So do tamales!
I’m trying to get my scraps corralled from all my Christmas sewing mess. I have all the makings for a table topper cut out, so I may make it before tackling my next project. I’m hoping to do a Gypsy Wife quilt for us before starting on baby quilts.
We had some light ice around the pond this morning when I went out to feed the birds. We are still only 33 degrees. Brrr! The good thing is that the days are getting longer!
Dinner tonight—veggie soup for me, steak for DH. I think we will be staying in. Usually there is a party at DS1’s, but home is safer To all of my quilty friends, Happy New Year!!!

Good early afternoon from, once again winter.....Mother Nature is really messing with us...Yesterday when I went out, I just wore a sweat shirt and today it's back to the winter coat (if I go out)...Woke up to a couple of inches of snow and had to sweep a path across the porch and steps just to get the paper...I'm sure the neighbors were amused by my fuzzy robe and what looks like army boots but everyone needs a good laugh every once in a while......
Mary, doing laundry in the rain is not a fun thing...You do seem to have things under control and we sure are hoping and praying for clear "sailing" for your drive...I'm sure Tina feels much, much better knowing you'll be with her on the journey....I know what you mean about saying goodbye to Autumn....Even though I see Kathy a lot, it's hard when she leaves...But, like you, knowing the fellow in their lives is special and treats them well, sure helps...So happy to hear Autumn "sparkled"......
Becca, wish we had some of that sun you're talking about....Just snow and dreary up here....I too hate to hear about the BP dropping...My Mom always carried a very high BP, it was just normal and if it came down too low, she was sick...A few years before her death, she came down with the flu and had to be hospitalized and as soon as they saw her high BP, gave her a shot to bring it down and it worked too fast and she had a stroke...That stroke was the beginning of the end....Don't like to be a downer but we worry about you.....Good for you, purging things...I look at the totes of clothes I have and really, really should do the same....Lots of things I can't wear any longer and I'm sure someone would love to have but just sitting here taking up space...Keep telling us what you're doing, maybe it will give me that push!
Jana, Happy birthday and a virtual hug for Ethan...Hard to believe, he's growing up too quickly....Hoping and praying everyone is feeling better and the new year will be a Healthy year....
Lori, I wish we had a Trader Joe's close by...I'd love to check out "your" orange chicken...Guess I could look up the recipe but that sounds like work, lol.....Hope all is good for you and the new year is special....
Tina, I keep thinking how busy you are and my wish for you in the new year is to have time for yourself, be able to sit down and put your feet up and just relax...And of course spend a lot of time with your new toy....Hope everyone is healing and continues to be healthy...
Chickie, so happy to see you...Think of you so often and know you are busy.....2 new babies???? That's the best news ever, so happy for you......
Yesterday, I did stop at DGS, Dan's house to see his fur baby, Kitty...Kitty is getting up in years and the vet told him, he's in near end kidney failure and Dan is devastated...Today, he's having more blood work done...But, Kitty gave me lots of kisses and other than loosing weight, he seemed normal...Praying for a miracle......
Not sure what I'm going to do today....In fact, I'm still in my fuzzy robe and really enjoying it...I did have a call from my sister and she wants to play cards tonight if we don't get any more snow...She even told me she has some Wine coolers that I might like to sample....But, we'll see, might just stay home with Baby Girl on my lap.....As for dinner, still have left over meat loaf and might throw a potato in the oven or if we play cards, maybe pizza......Decisions, decisions, decisions......
Really hard to believe another year has passed but I think we're all super glad to be done with 2020...I'm very optimistic, I do believe, we'll get through this terrible pandemic.....We're survivors, we'll make it!
Wishing you all a very, very Healthy, Happy New Year.......

High everyone! Happy New Year Eve!
Mary, you're a great sister!
Jana, Ethan can't be 9 already! Happy birthday to him! Love that he still loves to get on your lap ❤
Irish LOL too cute, fuzzy robe and boots.
Becca, be careful with your BP!
Chickie, congrats on 2 more babies to be adding to your family!
Lori, I'm gonna have to look up that recipe, we love orange chicken!
I want you all to know we've been really busy here, the house inside is totally undecorated and now all cleaned, that took 3 days! I'm folding the last of the laundry tonight, I want to start my new year off with a clean house and time to sew and use my LA! See there's a reason for my crazy cleaning spree. Frankie did help me some so that probably cut a half day or so off for me.
I made fajitas for supper tonight. I'm thinking that pizza will be supper tomorrow.
I did a run to the Quilt Shop where I bought my LA from, they were having their big sale this week and I almost missed it, they're closed now till Tuesday. I got some 30's fabric for $4 a yard (I LOVE 30's fabric) , a new seam ripper that they suggested for helping me take stitches out on the LA, I also got the ruler foot for my LA and some rulers. I'm really interested in learning how to do the ruler work quilting! My friend who has always done my LA quilting is their Handi Quilter teacher and she's recorded the classes for the rulers. She said if I need extra help we can video chat and she'll help me ❤ oh and they gave me a little thing that clips on that holds scissors while I'm quilting so it's easier for me to clip threads

Great news today, Maria and Matthew tested negative for covid. Kevin is a little bit better, the stabbing pain from his back to his front has finally stopped. His other coworker that got it from the same guy is out of ICU and home with oxygen. Another one of Frankie's sisters has covid and is on life support and it's not looking good. This is a different sister than the one that lost her husband to covid a few months back.
I'm praying that 2021 is a healthier, safer year for the world

I'm staying up to make sure 2020 leaves and 2021 comes in with a special prayer

Tina
