SUPPER CLUB - Wednesday, Oct 28

Post by purrfect-lady » Wed Oct 28, 2020 4:18 am

Good morning,

Yesterday was a long day of errands. We got them all done and were home by 2:30. Went to 3 places looking for a set of toy dishes. No success. Got home, washed and ironed my fox fabric and have everything I need for that project all packed into my fabric tote. Then my DBIL, Al, texted that they were in a hospital ER. My sister fell on the sidewalk in front of their house and landed hard on her shoulder and face. Somehow she managed to get herself up and into the house. After XR's and CT scans, her diagnosis is broken shoulder and black and swollen eye. The fracture was non-displaced so she is in a sling and will see an orthopedic guy ASAP. At least it's the same arm she already had problems with. (elbow, wrist, & hand). My sis will be 78 in a few weeks. She says this will NOT deter her from meeting us in Texas Nov 22nd. We'll see . . .

I'm not sure what my plan is for today but that doesn't seem to matter much. My days generally don't follow my plan anyway! I guess I'll work on getting the trailer ready to go and the house ready to leave.

JANA - How did the door go yesterday? I bet Stu will do just fine on his trip. Everyone has a GPS these days. And even if he does get lost, he'll find his way again and sometimes some of life's best adventures happen when we thought we were lost! Is he still seeing the young lady with the little girl?

BECCA - Did Keith and family make it to their new home before Wyatt's accident or were they still on the road? As soon as I heard about my sister's fall and fx'd shoulder I thought of Wyatt and our short conversation yesterday! This is Tina's fifth fracture that I can recall. I had my teeth cleaned a few weeks ago. They really take a lot of extra precautions in our dentist's office.

LORI - so you and your DH have almost the same birthday? Fun! Sounds like a nice celebration! Happy Birthday to him!

TINA texted me that they were having below freezing temps yesterday and off and on snow showers. She has been painting her sewing room and has it almost finished.

IRISH - I hope we didn't wear you out the other day!

Supper here tonite will be ?? We still have leftover mac & cheese. If Bill is happy with that, then I'm good, too. If not, I'm thinking baked chicken, brussels sprouts or salad, and maybe a small serving of mac & cheese on the side.

Good morning!

Mary - I am sitting here, staring at the hole. The door will make it's appearance this morning. The stucco is cut and gone, so between me and the 21 degrees outside is a thin piece of plywood and several snuggy warm quilts. It is slow going, but our handyman is very good and even keeps everything picked up and clean. Your poor sister! Hopefully she will join you. She could sit at home or sit at home in the new home, the RV. I'm sure she is glad to have the quilt done! My little girls play house and have the cooking things, but no dishes. They just use the IKEA plastic plates.

So not much here. Minnie Mouse is at the assembly stage. Hopefully will get to work on it. I do like designing my own patterns, but really like to have someone else do all the figuring !

Ethan's handwriting is coming along. We did "b" yesterday. That is not a easy letter, but he is trying. I cheat and close up the "b", so it is a hybrid of a printed one, but I am being good and teaching the proper way, that is right now.

Dinner - I have leftover chicken rice and gravy. Just a small piece of chicken. But it will be enough and fresh asparagus too.

Broke down yesterday and ordered some new clothes. Mostly shirts, as my old ones were so big and baggy, that they would fit two people at once! Even ordered a new pair of jeans, smaller, but they are backordered . So when the new stuff arrives, I will purge my closet. I do have a couple of things that aren't to big, so they will stay. Even need new underwear. The waists on mine are so high from normal, that my mom would say, a little short under the armpits! Not complaining, it is nice to buy small again and not from Omar's tent store! This has been a long time coming and I have been a tad bit scared to buy new, but it is so needed now. Just shy of 100 lbs gone.

Well, need to start my day,
Stay Safe!

Hugs,
Jana

Good morning!
Mary, I hope your sister is able to go to Texas and meet you there, yep sitting at home or home in new RV sounds good 😊
Boy oh boy did we ever get snow! I love it! It snowed all day, had a few times it was total white outs! They even had to close I-10 a couple times and sadly I think there were a couple accidents. We're already melting and going to 54° today, we needed this moisture soooooo badly!
I came by yesterday and read everything and then Frankie called my name and I never made it back to post.
I made a big pot of potato and sausage soup for lunch and we ended up with all 3 grands here so there was just enough for supper. I made a huge pot of veggie beef soup for lunch today thinking all 3 grands would be here today too LOL nope just Easton today but Dad it's coming for supper so that's fine.
The second coat is on my sewing room walls, I do see where Frankie painted around the light switch and above the door needs another coat so that'll be this evening. Next will be the trim but I need to get that paint first.
Jana, brrrrrrr you were a tad colder than us. Congratulations on the weight loss and new clothes! Awesomesauce!
I'm writing my post during Easton's review, he's ready for new so I gotta scoot.

Good afternoon from a very dreary, chilly, SW. Pa...AND silly me, I'm sitting here kind of wishing for some of that snow you all have...I know, virus really did something to my brain, lol......

Oh Mary, so sorry to hear about your sister but she sounds like a trouper and won't let this keep her from traveling....Must have missed it but why are you looking for a set of toy dishes?
I've kind of given up on my projects or maybe just put them on the back burner for awhile...I hate the feeling of not even wanting to turn on the machine or dig out the cross stitching....

Jana, my heavens what an accomplishment! And to get new clothes, that's wonderful......I had to smile when you mentioned Stu getting lost and maybe finding his way east....I'd be more than happy to have him visit me...That would be great but you might not get him back....And I think it's great that you are teaching Ethan the correct way to write....Don't you wonder what these kids, who aren't able to write, will do in later years when it comes to signing a contract or check????

Becca, oh my, there's something about boys and broken bones...Or there's usually 1 in the family that seems to take all the "breaks"...That was our Chris, seemed you'd just look at him and he'd be in a cast or needing stitches, lol...
I wish that Mrs. Clean would stop at my house, maybe just to spruce up things a bit......

I'm waiting for Kevin to stop over...The other night, 1 of the alarms decided to chirp so I disconnected it and this morning another one joined in the singing so it's time for Kevin to chance the batteries....I have been here for 7 months so it's time.......

For my dinner, my nephew knocked on the door last night, container in hand and said, "meals on wheels"....His wife had stuffed shells with chicken stuffing (box) and then covered it with cream of chicken soup and baked....Something so simple but oh my so good...So, have a few left for my dinner tonight.....Tomorrow, I might actually cook that chicken ala king that I've been thinking about....We'll see what happens tomorrow......

You all have a good rest of the day...

Happy eating.................

Eagle update......This is the time of year when the Florida couple are busy building or repairing their nest but this year, is really different...Their last eaglet hasn't left the nest yet! It's quite funny to see the baby sitting on the nest calling for the parents to bring dinner...But, in the mean time, the parents have been building a new nest in another tree so everyone is wondering if that's for the "kid that won't leave" or if the parents are moving and giving up their old nest.....Normally, when a pair are starting their new season, they don't allow any other adult to hang around the area so this is strange....
There had been a next in the south that had 3 adults taking care of the eggs....One female and 2 male and they all took turns incubating the eggs and then feeding the little ones....Would be great if that happens in this nest.......Time will tell but just hope they don't turn mean to force him out........

Jana, you deserve new clothes. You know you've lost a lot of weight when you have to buy new undies. Has it helped with your hip pain?

Mary, yes DH had a nice birthday. Dinner with the kids was fun.

I just got back from a day out with a couple friends. We drove out to the a winery for lunch. Then another one for tasting. We also hit 2 quilt shops along the way. It was a great day.

I just got home so I don't think I'll be making dinner. We won't starve, as there is plenty to eat in this house.

have a lovely evening.
