Good morning,

Our days are rapidly growing a little cooler with darker mornings and evenings. But the good news is that it's only 74 days until the days start getting longer! That's just 10-1/2 weeks!

I didn't get any sewing done yesterday, but I did go into Tacoma to the LQS and got quite a bit of fabric at 40% off. Since most of her bolts are regularly priced at only about $10/yd it's really a bargain. And it's all quilt shop fabric, no cheap stuff. I ended up paying an average of $5.57/yd. So I stocked up on fabrics for backs, a few blenders, and the pieces I went for - my UGRR project and my embroidered birds. I got a pretty blue solid for the front (sashing and setting blocks) and a wonderful bird print for the back and a stripe for the binding that pulls all the colors together. Can't wait to see it finished! After the quilt shop we stopped at the Flag store and picked up some new American flags and a few seasonal garden flags.

Then off to Oly to pick up our trailer. Apparently the employee we'd been dealing with, and who was supposed to call us last week when the damage assessments had been done, went on vacation and forgot to call us! He even told us to quit calling, that he would get a hold of us when the trailer was ready.
Grrrr!! It was a process bringing another guy (owner of the repair shop) up to speed and wait for HIM to do assessments. And his assessment was that to fix it "right" would cost almost $15,000!! Yikes! That just ain't happening. So we brought it home. Bill thinks he can do the repairs himself. Sigh. Have to admit, this is the exact work his dad and his brother (both deceased now) did all their lives so I can only hope it's in his blood, but Bill's a computer guy - not a fiberglass artist. At least we can use the trailer for our short camping trip next week.

If I get time to sew today, I'll be starting on my UGRR project. Plus, my sister called me and said she has changed her mind about using a blanket for batting and also about hand quilting her embroidered flower quilt. So she is bringing it back to me when they return in 2 weeks and I will quilt it for her on our LA. So I hope to have that finished and I can give it to her when we meet up in Texas at Thanksgiving time. So no lack of sewing here at the Rockin' Z in case you were worried I was getting bored!

JANA - How big is your gnome project? I think I've seen this pattern - the gnomes are all sort of in a cheerleader pyramid to form a Christmas tree? SOOO cute!! I love gnomes, but have yet to make even one. I'll just add them to my list! lol!

BECCA - you are so right about those wonderful interruptions! I would give anything to have one more game of Clue or Parcheesi with our grand boys. But they are so busy now with their adult lives. I have one sad azalea. It's a white one and blooms every year but it's getting overcrowded by the rhodies who tower over it. But that's OK. Some of it's white peeks through still and gives contrast to the red blooms.

CAROL - Yes, you'll be the best president your guild has ever had! In the most challenging of times! Pat yourself on the back! Hope the house painting all goes well. Did you move your shed permanently or will it go back after the painting is done?

We did have our spaghetti last night and the sauce was great! Tonite Bill invited his "Y" friends from his exercise class (Zoom) so we will have two couples at the campfire tonite. We can easily space that many folks. Everyone brings a snack. I think I'll make little cream puffs and fill them with chicken salad. I'm sure there will be an assortment of veggies and cheese and crackers, too. And that will be our supper. And I have ice cream bars for afters and a glass pumpkin filled with Halloween candy.

How's the supper plan coming along at your house?

Good afternoon!

Sarah and Ethan were just here. She found a new type of a electrical wire nut, a connector and had to show her Dad. Mostly to make sure it is a safe connector. It is and so she is finishing up the last box connections. Ethan needed some time outside for a recess, so he rode his bike over here. He also helped me to get out the fall/Halloween skinnies. I have quite the collection of them. But there are even more Christmas ones! Ethan put his bike in the back of the truck, so he didn't have to ride uphill to his house.

Dinner- Humm- I have some chicken tenders that I'll bake and add them to make a Caesar chicken salad for dinner.

Mary - good to get quality fabric at good sale prices. If and when this all ends, my stash will need a lot of help being restocked! 3njoy the campfire!

Time to head to the Batt Cave,
Hugs,
Jana

Hi Everyone,
The house painter just called and has delayed us one day. DH and I both breathed a sigh of relief. He needs to go into the office tomorrow. (Don't worry he is the only one in there.) I have a Zoom meeting in the morning. Friday will be much better! DH doesn't work on Fridays!

The Board meeting last night went extremely well. The Board is totally behind me. There are several former Presidents on the Board and they agreed to help me in whatever way they could. I had given a heads up to three Board members and all of them came through beautifully. The Membership Chairs report was outstanding. Comparing to last year, yes we are down however not by a lot. I have heard of Guilds lowering their dues and still getting less than 50% of members to renew. We are doing much better!

Everyone enjoys the Guild sew-in times. They are so glad to see people sewing!

Dinner tonight will be Mandarin Orange Pork Chop Bake (with Rice).

Have a good evening!
