SUPPER CLUB - Monday, Oct 5
Posted: Mon Oct 05, 2020 6:34 am
Good morning,
We had light rain most of yesterday so my yardwork plans didn't happen. I ended up finishing the embellishments on "Whisk" and posting a photo of it. Then I baked bread & cookies, did 2 loads of laundry, cleaned the fridge, and put together my Christmas swap blocks. I got one border on but called it a day so I'll put the other three on this morning. Then to see what I have for backing. The rest of the day will probably be reserved for yard work after my chiro appt.
CAROL - So, you were going to clean out your storage shed and emptied it out onto your patio but then the shed collapsed? Is that what happened? I think I missed the first part of the story. I hope the ending is better than the beginning! Glad your DH wasn't hurt! Sorry you are lone president of your guild now. Do you have a vice pres? Can you delegate some of the responsibilities? Or cut back on some of the activities during Covid? What color are you going to paint your house? It's been my experience that choosing the colors is the hardest part!
BECCA - Will your azaleas grow back after you cut them or are they gone now? I've seen people cut big rhodies down to a 6" stump and it takes a few years, but they come back eventually. What a wonderful opportunity for your DGS and family to see the country. It's a good time to travel - not too hot anymore and winter weather - in most areas - is still several weeks away. Though I do see a bit of snow predicted for Yellowstone next Sunday, Oct 11. And low temps in the teens next week. We had an inch of snow when we were there - Sept 7th. They are wise to keep an eye on the weather. When we travel Bill signs up for DOT alerts on his phone from whatever states we are in.
JANA - Does Ethan know his gramma or what?? Chocolate mint is my least favorite of ALL ice creams! I don't eat that even in an emergency, so he can have my share! Nice news about Stu. Will be fun to see where this goes. This could be your fast-track to great-grammahood!
We had meatloaf and baked potatoes last night. So we'll have leftovers tonite. I might make cooked carrots to go with. Not my favorite, but it's the only fresh veggie I have on hand right now. My poor brother, Gene, texted me last night. He'd been cleaning the fridge and made "stoup" out of whatever he found. It was a failure and he tossed it outside in the spot where he tosses all his cooking failures. And the camp robbers wouldn't eat it. Not even his resident fox would touch it! He was hurt. lol! So I taught him, by text, how Mom used to make mac & cheese, a major comfort food. Not even Gene could mess that up. Right?
