SUPPER CLUB - Wed, Aug 19

Good morning,
We are a tad cooler this morning - 59* on the deck. And I can smell rain! We have a marine layer starting to push its way in so we might get some refreshing WET tomorrow and/or Friday. Yay! In fact, as I sit here on our deck, I can see mist moving in through the tall trees. Nice! Supposed to be mostly cloudy today, going to 75*
Yesterday was mildly productive - made four bindings and got two quilts bound. Then I hand washed a sundress, cleaned the fridge and two freezers, and finished another embroidered state bird block (5 more to go). We put some time in planning the first few days of our trip to Yellowstone - going east on I-90 through WA, ID, and MT and dropping down into the park at the north entrance. We will spend 4 nights getting there. Our friends, Tex & Annette just happen to be taking the same trip to the same campground the same week! We are meeting my sister and they are meeting Annette's brother. So we're going to travel together as far as Billings, MT where we will go on to Yellowstone and they will be wait a day for the brother to fly in from TN and rent a motorhome. All this was totally coincidental! The planning, map-perusing, campground hunting, and reservation-making takes time. Camping is VERY popular this year because of Covid and you can't depend on any campground having open sites anymore. Though in MT, free camping is allowed at fishing accesses and there are a lot of those!
Today's plan is to make two more bindings, load another quilt, check the berries to see if more are ripe, do a little cleaning, and a little more yard work. I did get a small start on the yard a few days ago. Time for end of summer clean-up.
IRISH - we have raccoons and crows and Vicki here to help disperse the trash! Even though we live only about 1/2 mile from the waterfront, we don't get seagulls, which I've often thought was odd. They are fun scavengers, too! And a wedding quilt! And you want to have it done in a month? You sew, girl!! I assume this couple is getting a green quilt? I've never made an Irish Chain but it's on my bucket list. I've always thought green, but I've seen a scrappy one that looks so pretty . . . .
JANA - So, how many quilts are in YOUR queue? I have 9 right now. And I have 2 sets of UGRR blocks waiting to be put together. So I'm back in the UFO business! I might give King Tut a try again. I know lots of folks love it and Bills says our machine does OK with it. He just has to re-do his tensions and he doesn't like to do that. We had a cone of Sew Fine, almost out of thread, and it kept breaking. After checking everything possible we finally determined it was old thread and tossed it out. Put in a new cone and all was fine. Every job needs a site supervisor! Bill is always out kibitzing with construction guys, too, just to find out what's going on.
Last night friends dropped by and we had pizza and wine around our cold firepit (too hot at 85* for a fire), so we never ate our planned supper of leftovers, so that's on the menu for tonite - and the last of our salad greens.
How's supper planning coming at YOUR house!
