Good morning,

Wow! Yesterday was a scorcher by PNW standards. We were 97* at our house. We average 3 days a summer at 90*+. And the news says this was our third. By 3:30 we had the house closed up and retired downstairs to the family room where it was only 72*. But before that, I got my Spring quilt almost quilted, got a couple of things organized in my sewing room, and finally took my pantry inventory in the trailer. My sister and I talked and planned meals for our Yellowstone trip, and looks like things are all a 'go' there. Except we'll have to travel over Labor Day weekend, something we try never to do. Our return trip won't be so bad as it will be later in Sept.

Today my goal is to finish my quilt and get another one loaded. Also to sew my cut binding strips together to make bindings for all these tops I'm working on. If there are more berries ripe, I'll pick and freeze them. My freezer will be over-stocked so I'll give some to my sister when she gets here with her trailer (and freezer).

Our Across-the-road neighbors, Joe & Lori, were out yesterday and saw Vicki walking along the road. She gave them a double "salute" with those overused fingers, called them a name QIAD would never let me print here, and yelled at them that she had restraining orders out on "all of you". V's family hasn't given up, but they are having to start over again from scratch. They are so discouraged. This really isn't going to end well for Vicki.

BECCA - I would love to see your yo-yo table runner from your mom! I'm looking for good ideas before I commit to one to use up the last of my yo-yo's. The news showed a lot of students returning to college and the parties were starting. The health officials are expecting a big spike in infections because of it. :(

JANA - so happy your special supper was - well - special! And I can't believe little Gracie is already kindergarten age! I think if I had a child in any grade right now I'd not be willing to risk them in school. I'd be home-schooling them myself. What a challenge it is! But I'd do it! I know Sarah and Sandee got this for your little ones! Glad the trailer connections got figured out and settled. How is Stu doing these days?

IRISH - I know Kathy went home yesterday and you and Baby Girl are back to normal now. What's on tap today? A big ole' nap?! :D

As for our supper tonite - I think I will make a one pan dish of leftover rice, sliced turkey kielbasa, green onions, mushrooms, and whatever else I can find to toss in. With a salad on the side.

What's for supper at your house?

Good morning!

Mary - funny you should ask about Stu - he is doing well. He called the other night just to talk. He is still at Amazon and told me he is acting like a grownup now. Working, paying bills , working. Had a good laugh.

Today will be another scorcher. Another day in triple digits. The sun just came over the mountains and we are at 75 already.

Dinner will be re-runs - again. Still is yummy. I think I will get my meat slicer out and cut some very thin slices and make a french dip with those, with caramelized onions, swiss cheese and mushrooms, on mine. Michael doesn't do mushrooms. I will make a batch of brownies as well. Did that while we were camping on our honeymoon. We borrowed my brother's trailer for that week, up in the redwoods, near the Russian river, and the ocean.

Not much doing other than that. Sewing on my potholders. I have a ton sewn and 2 tons still to do. At least all the pieces parts are cut out.

Stay Safe!
Hugs,
Jana

Good morning, today I have a phone appointment with Soc. Sec. to sign up for Part A of my Medicare. I won't have to sign up for Part B until I retire next year since I have medical insurance through Home Depot's group medical plan. Bills are waiting to be paid. They must be done today, but that can wait until after my phone appointment.

Supper tonight is supposed to be green chile chicken enchiladas. We'll see if Charles gets them made. If not, chicken will still be on the plates, just not sure what it will be called.

Good afternoon from a warm, sunny, super day in SW. Pa...Yep, I'm back, a year older and kind of feeling it today, lol....As Mary said, it's back to just Baby Girl and me although I'm finding things that have been left behind by a very active almost 2 year old....Kathy had a flight at 6:30 yesterday and her wonderful son, Dan, volunteered to take her to the airport...Boy, was it hard having everyone leave but, they'll all be back soon...It was a week to remember not so much the birthday, but having all the family, hearing the stories and doing the funny things, just perfect.....
We ended up with 2 cakes, Dan's girl baked a gluten-free chocolate and my sister brought a red devil's food so we had goodies to spare...After everyone left, I took cake to a neighbor's and 4 of us sat on her porch until well after 10:00....These birthdays can be hazardous to the hips....... This year has been interesting in some ways but for me, it's been a whole new way of life and I'm very thankful......

Mary, Thank you for your text yesterday, so nice to "talk" to you....I can't get over your weather but it seems the whole country is being weird this year...You next trip sounds so exciting....Oh my, the Vicki saga continues, so sad.......

Jana, Happy belated, special day to you....Those pot holders will be loved....

Becca, know, you'll be coming along soon...Hope all is well in your neck of the woods.....

As I said, not moving too fast but going to put on decent clothes and shoes and go in search of fabric for the next wedding quilt...I think there might be a quilt shop not too far away and if I can't find it, I'll hop over to JoAnn Fabrics.....The doctor put me on the FODMAP diet so I need to get gluten and lactose free stuff...Thank goodness my chips are not yet banned (only by Kathy, lol)......

Not sure what dinner might be...Besides cake, I do have a freezer full of Omaha and Schwan stuff...Oh by the way, Mr. Schwan was in his shorts........Made my day!

You all have a great rest of the day......

Happy eating..........................

Jana - Prayers for all the firefighters fighting fires all over California, especially your son.

Today, I opened freezer of refrigerator to get a popsicle and it was totally melted. We rushed to get anything we could to the freezer in the garage. We got the jugs of ice and put them in the ice chest and put things from the refrigerator into the ice chest. Then we got the repair manual. DH couldn't find anything useful so I looked up the number of the repairman. We called them. After we got an appointment on Friday I looked in the repair manual. It said something about "Demo mode" meaning demonstration mode. It told me to press the ice maker button (we don't have one) and the temperature arrow. It said they would be blinking which they were not. I did it anyway. Guess what? It worked, the refrigerator and freezer came back on and both are working! A couple hours later the refrigerator is back together. I had washed out the freezer section drawers so we are leaving it empty tonight.

Dinner tonight was pizza.
