SUPPER CLUB - Saturday, Aug 8th

Good morning,
The mornings are sure darker than they used to be 2 months ago. And the birds are not so noisy. I hope they haven't started leaving yet!
Yesterday I picked blackberries on my walk - enough for one batch of jam. Got home, made the jam (and a peach cobbler using my old Betty Crocker cookbook!), and cleaned my very messy kitchen, washing all the pans & utensils. Then I thought - "I wonder if there are any berries on our own property?" So I went looking and ended up with TWO buckets full! So back to the kitchen I went and made two more batches. In all I got 31 half-pints. And had to clean up the mess all over again! Now any berries I pick will be going into the freezer. Or I could make up pie filling and can it like my mom used to do . . .
Today's plan is to finish packing the trailer. Not too much to put in for only 3 days - and most of the food is already in there. So this should be an easy peasy day. The only project I have going is to finish a few more masks with an American flag theme and hopefully put binding on Dizzy Daizy - IF Bill gets it done. He got distracted yesterday and ended up washing/waxing the pick-up.
CAROL - I think I have a BC Cookie book, too. Actually I have a 6-ft shelf filled with cookbooks but BC is always my go-to. If I have a cooking problem, looking for a recipe, etc., Bill always says, "Did you check with Betty?"
IRISH - what a surprise to find on your porch! Something those wily porch pirates probably wouldn't swipe! Too much work! I hope you wanted a queen bed for your guest room! lol! Terry was so smart! I love that he took his recipes! lol! Hope your and Ruby's drive to the airport was uneventful except for the collecting of Kathy!
JANA - we will be staying in the park at Grant Village campground. We have stayed in the park several times in different campgrounds. Yellowstone is one of my favorite places on earth. We've camped our way through the Tetons, too, and I have a cross-stitch picture I did of the Tetons and it hangs in our family room next to a nearly identical framed photograph I took. We came down Teton Pass once, eastbound, in our old pick-up, sans brakes, while towing our trailer. It was one scary ride! The next big city we came to we stopped at Cummins and had an engine brake installed. Our last trip, Bill was sitting under the overhang of our fifth-wheel in our campsite, reading a book. And a buffalo came under there and joined him! Meanwhile, another was scratching himself on our front steps. I was inside and the door was open. They do get up close and personal! Neither of us moved an inch!
BECCA - the news showed a lot of homes nearer the coast destroyed more by tornadoes than the storm. So sad for those folks! While born in Michigan, Bill grew up about 30 miles from our coast. It's cooler and wetter there but it is REALLY rare for our side of the country to have storms like the east has. People still talk about our "Columbus Day Storm" of 1962. I was 11. Now they would call that a Cat 1 hurricane, but it was a "100-year storm". What's on your docket for the day?
I think tonite we'll be grilling pork chops with fried apples, corn on the cob, and a salad. How's your supper looking?
What's cookin' at your house?
