SUPPER CLUB - Wed, July 29

Post by purrfect-lady » Wed Jul 29, 2020 6:04 am

Good morning,

I woke up at 4am and that was it for my night. However, since we put everything out on the deck yesterday for carpet cleaning, there was no where to sit inside! We piled so much stuff out on the deck but we left each of us a place to sit, so here I am, computer on my lap, coffee on a footstool, surrounded by chairs, boxes, shelves, books, stereo (yes I still have one of those) and QUILTS! The guy that cleaned our rugs came an hour early, which was nice. And start to finish it took him less than 2 hours to do the entire floor (3 rooms, hall, living/dining) plus two couches. He was so nice and did an amazing job. For about $300 less than the company we have dealt with in the past. I did manage to get my R/W/B quilt top finished before we dismantled our house. I will try to post a photo in a bit. And I spent the afternoon washing and hanging out laundry and sitting on the deck with my audio book, embroidering. I got another state bird block finished. 40 down and 10 to go.

Today will be putting our house back together. And as I look around me at all the stuff stuffed onto our deck, I'm thinking a lot of it doesn't need to go back inside - I see more purging today! How can I save stuff for years and years and then suddenly a light dawns and I ask, "Why??"

JANA - Poor Ethan! But perhaps he learned something . . . but he's a kid, so probably not. But he will have an experience to share some day with his future kids when they are running in the house. :D Today is tile day!! Happy Happy!

BECCA - your day yesterday was pretty productive. You reminded me that I needed to do laundry, too. Thanks a heap!!

CHICKIE - What a lot of pickles and peppers you pickled! Yum! The wedding sounds nice. Were many people there? Glad you didn't topple in your high heels! I'm not sure I could wear them anymore! lol! And you got RAIN! And of course, it would be when you were out in the pasture. How much longer until Covid can stay overnight with his friends? Happy birthday to your sis and to your baby!

IRISH - and happy birthday to YOUR baby, too! I'm glad Kathy is taking up your canning traditions! My DD#1 makes jam occasionally, but I think that's all any of my kids do. I love canning, but don't do a lot of it anymore myself - in a big year I do applesauce, peaches, pears, tomatoes, pickles, and several batches of jams. I have jars enough to do a lot more, but I don't. So often we travel in winter and jars aren't too RV friendly. Welcome Home to your friend! And you got a bunch of new books! Score!

ROSEBUD - Chili and tortillas sounds so Southwest! I texted Chriss yesterday but didn't hear back. I texted her again this morning and just as I started this sentence, I heard back from her. She said she is OK, but is taking a break from life right now. No specifics.

CAROL - you'll have those Christmas stockings done in plenty of time, I'm sure. Would you like any fake white fur to trim them with? I have 64" of 36" wide and no use for it. I'll send it to you if you like.

Yesterday I put chicken parm in the crockpot. I've never done it that way before but used a recipe from TOH magazine. (it's got a lot of good recipes this month!). It was delicious! And there's enough for tonite, too. I served it over angel hair pasta. Yum!

Hope your supper is just as tasty!

Good morning from another warm, summery SW. Pa....We do get a promise of rain from those people who are in the know but most times, they don't follow through on that promise so we drag out the hoses...

Only have a few minutes before I run out the door...Have an appointment this morning and then meeting the gals for lunch at one of our favorites that has outside seating...Gonna be another fun day.....

Mary, it is funny, how you keep all that stuff and, like me, moving, find you really don't need it...The big thing I put away was my collection of Fenton cats...I had them on every table and shelf in my old living room and when I put them out in this house, decided, too much, put them back in their boxes and they're living in the shed...I already told Cari, they'll be her's and I'm not sure she was too thrilled, lol....
But, once you get your house back in shape, you'll be so pleased, with or without all the extra stuff.....Sure hope Chriss is OK...But, do understand the need to just take a break....

And with that, I'm headed out the door....I have a feeling there will be no dinner, except maybe left over lunch.....

You all have a great rest of the day....

Happy eating.....

Good morning!

Waiting on the tile guy - everything is ready. Also ready for one of us to pick up Sarah from the repair shop. She is getting the brakes done on her truck.

Yesterday, after these years in this house, finally got around to putting up the wall of railroad pictures in the family area of the Batt Cave. They are photographs that Michael took, as well as ones the kids did over the years. Mixed in are some old ones that Daniel finds and sends his Dad. I spread them, collage style across the wall behind the sofa. Michael's office area is right there as well, so he can see them from his desk. Now, for the upper section of the staircase wall for all the old family pictures. Maybe - not sure yet I want all of them out.

Dinner - whatever heats in the microwave., for the next few days. I am good with that.

Sarah dental surgery is complicated due to her Graves disease and Hashimoto's . Right now, those diseases are causing a fight, thinking her teeth are a foreign antibody and are trying to destroy them. The DDS is having her do a very soft diet, so not to aggravate the teeth by chewing. The implant surgery is near the end of August. And will drag on until the first of the year. Sarah is also working with her doctor to stop, or get the Graves and Hashimoto back under control. Very trying!

Mary - "stuff" always seems to multiply and have a life of their own! I have too much stuff!

Irish - oh, a collection of kitties! I love Fenton and have a couple of pieces. I collect Lladro cats, and have many other cats as well in my curio cabinet. Cari will love having your cats, because they were you! And she will share that with Lena.

Well, the tile guy is here and getting started. Yippee! Only one problem, the snap on covers to my electrical outlets have been put some place safe, now none of us remember where that safe place is! They were put there about 4 years ago! Heck, I have a hard time remembering where my head is, and it is attached!

Waiting for Sarah to call, to go get her, she will have a bribe, a doughnut!

Hugs,
Jana

Good afternoon! We are having a lovely slow rain shower! We have really needed the moisture, and this is welcome! We didn’t get but maybe ¼” when I was out in it the other evening. Seems like most of the heavy rains go around us.

Irish—you scored on fabric and books!!! Happy birthday to your baby, too! I don’t do a lot of canning, but I had piles of peppers and zucchini (‘tis the season to lock your car doors when you go to church, or your back seat may be full of zucchini!). If I had received small tomatoes, I would have made salsa and marinara, but that would have been a sacrilege for these beautiful slicers! I sent you a PM of the recipes I used. I’d like to try your relish recipe some time if you would share. Sounds like another fun day for you!!!

Mary—Glad you didn’t have a big rainstorm while everything was piled outside! I’ll go check out your quilt in a bit. Covid is still small and will do better with supplemental feed and not just grass. The other calves still have milk, so it will be awhile longer. I think he waits for me to come get him instead of coming home on his own.

Jana—you have a busy day, too. Microwave works for me! My sister had Hashimoto’s. She had surgery on her thyroid probably 40 years ago. They probably don’t do that now. Is she having all implants now? My sister has a lot of Lladro pieces; some are quite large.

Dinner tonight will be from the microwave—squash casserole, beef and noodles Alfredo, coleslaw and tomatoes.

Bon appétit!

Hi everyone!
I had Jazmyne, Easton and Preston today..... I'm wiped out!
I came here numerous times reading little bits here and there but never got to post.
Mary, I'm about ready to go through stuff here, I just need some cooler temps.
Irish, I bought my mom Fenton baskets, they were supposed to come back to me but Dad has them. That's ok, I just hope they don't go anywhere else, I'd be sad.
Jana, I have one of those "safe" places, I have no ideas where it is either! 🤷‍♀️
Chickie, I think Covid likes you coming for him too LOL he knows he's got you wrapped around his little hoof 🥰
Becca, sounds like the bakery is really doing well, I'm so glad ❤❤
I have oodles of peaches, I have a peach pie in the oven right now and it smells soooooo yummy! Frankie wanted steaks tonight and I happened to have 2 in the freezer, baked potatoes will go with them.
We're back to 100+ for at least the next 5 days, crazy.
Tina
