Good morning,
Boy, did MY yesterday ever take a left turn at Albuquerque (as Bugs Bunny would say). I ended up deep cleaning my living/dining/kitchen/bath. I gave the quilting room a 'lick and a promise', and vac'd the traffic area of my sewing room and Bill's computer room. I guess today I'll be doing the downstairs - family room and our bedroom. We made appt to have our upstairs carpets cleaned next Tuesday so I was kind of doing the pre-cleaning. I hope I have a little quality time in my sewing room, too.
BECCA - did you figure out that pink wild flower? The wildflowers here have been outstanding this year! Every color you can imagine! Lupine, daisies, Indian paintbrush, wild roses and sweet peas, buttercups, queen anne's lace, everlasting flower, and several I couldn't name. I always think of you when I see any flower.
CHICKIE - Bill uploaded our photos to Costco and we picked them up a few days later. They usually do them in an hour, but we had almost 5 yrs worth of pix so we gave them extra time. I usually don't do
deep cleaning more than 3 or 4 times a year, and then only if I have a good reason - carpet cleaners, my sister's visit in Sept, etc. Actually, when my sis visits, if her hubby comes, too, then Bill gets into the act and we clean the garage and shop as well. My DBIL has two garages and you could eat off the floors in both of them! lol! So I try to have them visit at least once a year or else our shop would NEVER be cleaned! lol! Your pickles sound delicious! Sweet 'n' Sour? Sweet? Dill?
LORI - sounds like you found the ideal climate! Have you been to Julian? There is a county campground close to Eleanor's log home that we stayed at about 8 yrs ago just west of Julian. Pretty place with lots of wild turkeys. Also, in 2002 we worked in firecamps (did firefighters laundry) and were in Julian for 3 weeks for the Pine Fire. It was 108* - no A/C. Loved the job but I was miserable with the heat. You may have to build a trellis . . .
Tonite - no cooking! Yay for me! We are invited to a small outdoor outdoor happy hour at the home of one of Bill's friends from his exercise class at the "Y". They do it on Zoom now (a "Zoom-ba" class!

) but about once every 5 or 6 weeks a few of them get together wine and snacks and we spouses are invited. I think there will be 6 of us. Completely flouting the rule of only 5 allowed. But I hear there will be pizza, so we're good on supper here!
What's for supper at your house?

Good morning!
Mary - loved the pun! Whenever we had family coming, to our California house, I would clean too, except add paint and paper as well. Now, they are lucky I dusted! LOL!
Not much going on here - Michael is out on the tractor mowing. We cooled off significantly, so he can mow this morning. The lawn was getting quite tall. Almost needing a jungle guide to get through to the house! So with him out doing chores, I need to get a few done here inside. But first, I will be spending money. Michael found a couple of books he wants, so I will order them. His fun type of reading - technical railroad signaling - for a real size railroad.
We are needing to replace the carpets here on the main floor. So I have been working on talking Michael into hardwoods for most of the great room area. Leaving carpet in my front living room and the bedrooms. The bedroom carpets are fine. The front living room will be changed. Michael thinks the house will echo more with hardwoods. It is a very open concept floor plan with very tall vaulted ceilings - it already echos, so what is a bit more and besides, it is just the two of us, old quiet elderly, snickering added here, people. So once I get the plan on moving the furniture worked out, we can start to look for the flooring. I know what it will be, just have to steer Michael into thinking he picked it out. I know, I am bad! But hey, I have learned after 45 years of marriage how to get it done! And besides, I am spoiled by him.
Dinner - chicken that I fried. One last meal.
Stay Safe!
Hugs,
Jana

Good morning!
Mary, Frankie is in the cleaning mood this morning, thankfully! I try not to say anything about all the stuff he gets piled up around his garage but there are days..... he took 2 full loads to the transfer station already. Our high is supposed to be 90 so he's doing some cleanup out there. I'm not complaining at all

Enjoy your pizza, wine and visiting!
Jana, I hope you get the floors you want! I have a love hate relationship with my wood floors LOL love them when their clean but they are more work to get them that way than just running a vacuum across carpet. But I wouldn't change them for carpet because my house is less dusty if that's possible and they don't stain like carpet, good thing with grands

Becca, I love flowers of all kinds too, mine are struggling with the heat but still doing pretty good.
We thought we were gonna have a toad drownder last night but it missed us, hopefully tonight

I'm making jams today then cleaning and laundry.
We had roasted chicken last night with potatoes, carrots, green beans and asparagus all thrown in with it and leftovers are tonight. I have a problem getting my whole chickens to cook though....I don't know what I'm doing wrong

I cook at 350 for 2 hours and they still are pink and don't run clear liquids so I cut them at joints and cook for 30 to 45 more minutes, I want my chicken done. It drives me crazy-er!

Good afternoon from a semi sunny, not as hot but more humid, if that's possible......Not sure if we're getting more rain later or not but I'd like not to have to water, hint, hint, Mother Nature!
Mary, what gave you that spurt of cleaning energy and will you please send it this way....Of course, you did say, you're getting company...I always remember, years ago and I mean 45-50 years ago, my card club would meet at our homes and that was a "good cleaning day" and of course a baking day...The kids would always say, "those ladies are coming, don't touch anything and hope there's lots of left overs".....You think my kids never had goodies, lol.....I also love wild flowers and my goal, when we bought the lot next door was to have it full of flowers...Well, guess who moved before that goal was reached...I just hope the gal who moved in, keeps it going......I love, love to hear about your different adventures, you've really done it all, haven't you? Kathy is a great one for taking pictures...Any time, I'm with her and she takes pictures, she'll get on line and have albums made of the ones she feels I'd want....
Enjoy your happy hour......
Becca, I remember when we used to drive to Terry's in N. Carolina how the dividers on the highways would be planted with wild flowers...It was absolutely gorgeous, made the drive much more pleasant....Do miss those days....But, I'm one for be nosy when I'm out, always looking at people's yards...AND if I just happen to be near a nursery or any place where they sell plants, I'm in big trouble...Just like yesterday, stopped at Home Depot to get a sprayer for my hose and came home with the trunk full of plants....Not sure where I'm going to put them but between my neighbor and me, we'll find places, lol....With all that you do, have you found time to sit on your swing?
Tina, You're very lucky to have a guy like Frankie...Sounds like he's really hard at it....I used to marvel at Jim, he never stopped, could always find something to work on...And if it wasn't something on the house or yard, he was helping me...We used to joke about arguing over who would get to vacuum...He really was special....Most of my house has carpet but at the other house, I had wood put in the spare bedroom and then shortly after, moved but loved it while I was there......
Jana, Also hoping you get the floors you want and some how, knowing you will, lol....I have a feeling my grass mower will be around some time today even though it really doesn't need it....The neighbor beside me usually comes over and does the back of my house when she does her's so, there's really not that much for Andy to cut...I should just tell Kevin to bring his robot over and let it do it.....
I should be outside playing in the dirt but will wait until Dee, my neighbor, comes over to give her opinion...Yesterday, I also stopped at JoAnn's for Christmas fabric, came home and made a block and then remembered, I hadn't washed the fabric, duh! So, we'll start all over today, lol....Last night I had a call from my DGS's fiancé's aunt asking what kind of cookies I'd like to make for the wedding...The wedding isn't until December but she wants it all taken care of...Then in talking, I volunteered my sister, lol.....In our neck of the woods, some will say, a wedding is judged by the cookie table and we've had some pretty nice cookie tables, lol......
I have lots of choices for dinner but will probably stick with a salad.....
You all have a great rest of the day......
Happy eating...................
