SUPPER CLUB - Sunday, July 19th

Post by purrfect-lady » Sun Jul 19, 2020 6:38 am

Good morning,

We are having a beautiful day here - pretty morning, coffee and computer out on the deck. Listening to the fountain and talking to my "peeps". Going to about 79* today. Maybe I'll do a little laundry and put it on the lines.

IRISH - your Terry should win a blue ribbon for best doggie-daddy! How are they doing in their new house? How far are they from you now that you moved? Your sister is a bad influence! Just like mine! Ain't it fun??

JANA - So happy to hear Michael's scan came back clean! Such a relief for you all. What sauce did you use for your meatballs and polenta? Two days ago I fell asleep in front of TV while hand-embroidering, and yesterday I nodded off while machine blanket stitching and stitched an inch into my white background! With red thread! I thought maybe I should give in and take a nap, went out to the porch swing, and found I was too late - already occupied. Sigh. But I didn't go back and sew!

BECCA - I bet your yard bouquets are lovely. What flowers do you grow for cutting? I have a few bug-eaten roses, and dying fireweed, but those are the only blossoms in my yard. Mom had lilacs, snowballs, dahlias, and asters for the most part and often had bouquets in the house.

LORI - so sorry to hear your FIL is already declining. That Jack - a flower-lover! Yes, we are hoping all our careful documentation does something for Vicki. And as bad as it all is, when she left yesterday for her weekly outing with her son, we decided to go scout around - we hadn't done that for a long time and we've found it behooves us to know what's on the ground at her house. The usual garbage is all around outside but We peeked in the windows and were appalled at the INSIDE the house! Garbage piled high in the kitchen. And being dragged through the house by the rats. She says she is unable to take the garbage can out to the road anymore which I'm sure is true - a little less than a tenth of a mile. And those folks and the deputy saw it all when they came on Friday, so maybe after reading the info Ben gave them, they will be back. Vicki really needs to at least go for a 72-hr psyche eval.

Yesterday afternoon we lost Albert. We went to visit him, but got to the hospital and he had already had his allowed number of visitors for the day - At least he was allowed 4. In some areas, NO family can be with people as they pass away, so we felt blessed. We had a parking lot visit with my niece and came back home and he slipped away about 4 hours later. I was happy that that fourth visitor was his granddaughter. She really needed to see her Gramps. As sad as we all are, we're also relieved and happy for Al - now he's with Jim and our parents.

Not sure what I'm going to do today. Laundry and grocery shop and maybe sew. But for supper, we have a little ham, a little scalloped potatoes, and peas so I'm going to combine them all into a little one dish meal, I think.

Mary, My deepest condolences to you and all those loved by Albert. My prayers have been with you and will continue for you in the days ahead.

I have a Zoom Guild meeting on Tuesday and I am in charge. I need to send announcement to Guild members and finalize the agenda. Yesterday I was on a Zoom meeting with the Southern California Council of Quilt Guilds. It was a presentation on how to run a Zoom meeting. It was outstanding and I need to print out the notes. Someone on the meeting was from Alaska and there were many teachers. SCCQG has a really good reputation.

Dinner tonight will either be pasta and meat sauce or chili made with the sauce. Not sure at this early hour.

Take care everyone!

Good morning!

Mary - my prayers and wishes for peace and comfort go out to you and all you family. It is always a sad time for us here, knowing how much we will miss our loved ones, but oh, what a joyous reunion they have on the other side of the veil.

Carole - isn't technology great? Especially when it works right!

Becca - what a wonderful yard you have! When Michael was working out in the field for the railroad, there was a huge field of gladiolas and some stray plants grew inside the railroad fence, so he would cut those and bring them home to me. The others belonged to a flower grower for florists.

We will have a late brunch here and piece for our dinner tonight. After our church service, we will head down to the Batt Caave to spend the rest of the day. My grand gremlins will probably show up, so I will make a batch of cookies for them. Found a new recipe for butterscotch toffee bit pecan cookies. Basically a chocolate chip cookie dough, with no chocolate chips.

Hugs,
Jana

Good afternoon from another summery day here in SW. Pa.....And another day for just hanging in the house....

Oh Mary, so sorry to hear about Albert's passing but like the others have said, what a joyous reunion he is having....And, so glad you were able to have that visit with the others....I 've never had a brother but considered my DBIL, whose name was also Albert, my brother...We had a standing joke about him being older, 2 weeks, and I teased him something terrible....He passed away 6 months to the day, after Jim and today would have been his 83rd birthday...I have a feeling, he's in heaven smiling because in a couple of weeks, I'll be older than him.....
And I do agree, my sister is a bad influence and most times, it is fun....Terry lives about an hour away but he found a short cut to the new house which is pretty neat....He has a birthday coming up on the 28th, going to be 55, oh my!
Yesterday, Cari and DH went to the shelter to adopt a new fur baby but it didn't work out...Little 2 yr. old puppy who had been at the shelter since March and seemed no one wanted her because of a mark on it's eye..Cari said, she wasn't after a show dog just a pet but it didn't take to Lena...They felt so bad for the little thing but will keep trying....

Not much happening, staying inside and probably working on my swap blocks.....

For dinner, might make my zucchini chili or maybe just a burger.....

You all have a great day.....

Happy eating.................

Hi everyone!
We went and visited and had lunch with Kevin, Maria and Matthew and picked up a pick up order at Lowe's. We just got home and I thought I'd pop in and say hi!
Mary, I'm so sorry to hear about Albert. Hugs to you my friend. I'm glad some got to visit too, sorry you didn't get to.
We have leftover burrito fixings that will probably be a quick and easy supper.
Oh Mary, I'm glad you didn't sew through your finger!
