Good morning,

A busy day yesterday! I worked on my Christmas blocks, cleaned/organized my pantry, did kitchen floor, sat and read for an hour to finish a book, made some raised buns from a recipe I found at the end of my book, and it's a keeper! I was emptying the dishwasher and saw half the dishes were as dirty as they were when they went in, so Bill took the dishwasher apart after supper and as he was cleaning filters, etc, we got a call that since Albert was declining so quickly the hospital was allowing "visiting without restrictions". So at 6:30pm we took off for the hospital. We had a good visit with him and his wife and 3 kids ("kids" are 55 to 60 yrs old). My nephew was allowed to spend the night with him in the hospital. All treatment has been suspended and Al is now in palliative care only.

So, besides going back to the hospital today, I'll be working on Christmas blocks, and hopefully cleaning up the kitchen mess that we have going - IF Mr Fix-it gets the dishwasher back together and running again. :D

IRISH - Sending heartfelt doggy hugs to Scout and his parents (and his gramma!). Such a hard time. Those fur babies love us unconditionally and it's hard to watch them suffer and to let them go.

Watching those new homes get set up must be quite a show! My poor SIL & BIL have had a fair mount of trouble with theirs - first it took almost 2 months longer to build than they were promised. Nothing but problems while they lived for 5 months in a tiny travel trailer for which they were paying $700/mo! They finally got it delivered 3 days before Christmas and the set up took another whole month! In the middle of the rainiest month on record here. Nothing but mud at the site. After living in it for month or so, mold started appearing. They'd forgotten to add flashing to the siding!! What a mess! And some of the painting hadn't been finished. It took at least 6 weeks to make all those repairs. In the middle of all that Covid happend, my SIL had to have major surgery, and her hubby had a serious back injury and had to go to the hospital by ambulance. They are still trying to fix up their yard. I think they are pretty well settled by now - (they live 80 miles from us) - but what a saga it's been for them!!

JANA - which skinnies are you working on now? They would be so fun to do, but I have no wall space to hang them! The few walls I have are already filled with needlepoints, cross-stitches, little quilts, etc that I change out with seasons. More Aaron stories! He is the closest thing we have now to Live PD so keep them coming - as long as he stays safe!!

BECCA - I know you are getting to do one of your favorite things - spoiling your son! Lucky son and lucky mom! Hope you aren't too hot. Poor Tina is broiling!

TINA - your gordita's look like something from a top-notch Mexican restaurant! Thanks for 'sharing'. I could almost taste them. I know Bill would love them. So let's not show him those pictures, OK? No, no one was hurt when the shelf crashed in the trailer, but the cat took off like a shot and the carpet took a hit with all the wet dirt. Didn't do the plants any good either though the new African violet landed right side up and only lost a few petals. Like the one item that is left undisturbed while everything around it is blown away in a tornado. Sorry you are losing plants to the extreme heat. Hope it ends soon!

Last night's supper ended up as sweet and sour chicken over jasmine rice. And there are leftovers so I think that's what we'll be having. And more "Vulcan's Buns". They turned out soo good! If you want the recipe you can Google Vulcan's Buns Recipe. Pops right up!

Wishing us all good eats tonite.

Good morning!

No Aaron stories today. But a fun one with Sarah. Last year, her company installed a bunch of sod for Donny Osmond. Donny did a bunch at his house and the lot he owns next door. He was a hoot as they did the installation. Well, Sarah's number is now on his speed dial on his phone. She gets a call, showing the id as Donny Osmond. Sarah answered the phone call, tentatively , said hello, and the voice said hi, this is Donny Osmond, remember me? Sarah assumed it was a prank, but it really was Donny Osmond, needing some help with the sod. He couldn't remember what type of fertilizer to use. He had a son or grandson getting married and the family reception was at his home and he wanted his grass to be perfect. Sarah helped him and it tickles her to be on his speed dial! Y'all never know who knows you! LOL

Dinner - chicken stuffing casserole. Easy. I have a new place for my leftovers for the next few months. Sarah can only eat very soft foods, so that limits her, but she still needs to feed Ethan and her DH, Joseph. So instead of us eating leftovers, I will be sharing our food with them. I'll cook here and then run up the hot food to her house. Joseph can cook, a tiny bit. His specialty is pasta, with butter and parmesan cheese.

Mary - even at this sad time, it is a blessing that you got to see Albert and more, that he wanted to see his sister!

Becca - what a bounty of berries at your house! I was thinking about replenishing my strawberry jam, notice the operative word, thinking. Maybe I can get Sarah to make me a batch....

Time to go get in trouble, Batt Cave, here I come. Oh, I am looking at a Skinnie pattern that is a lemonade stand, just need to pull the scraps and trace the pattern. Most of the wallspace here is taken in the lower heights area , but I have plenty above, with the very high vaulted ceilings in this house. You get creative in how to use tall walls!

Stay Safe!
Hugs,
Jana

Good afternoon from a sunny, warm, perfect day in SW. Pa...It really is the perfect day but then I think you can turn a nasty day into something special if you try....

Oh Mary, so glad you were and will be able to visit with Albert...Praying the Good Lord will gently fold his arms around him and give him peace....
I talked to Terry last night and the Vet gave Scout a massive antibiotic to try, plan B will be to sedate and then xray...Terry is really dreading plan C...How can something with 4 paws tug at your heart strings so hard?
Oh my, I really feel bad for your sister and the saga with her home...And here I am complaining because I need my mulch finished! I did have my guys, "The Honey Doers" come today and put up 3 ceiling fans...My neighbor also wants them to do work for her...I did warn them, they might get in the park but not get out, lol.....I think if a good handy man lived here, he could name his hours and jobs.....And I've noticed, there are a lot of widowed "young" ladies living here and if that man was single, he probably would never have to cook again.....

Jana, you never disappoint us with your stories....I love, love this one and not many can say, Donnie Osmond has your number on speed dial..That is priceless!

Becca, I know you're enjoying your time with Marty...I always loved when 1 of the kids would stop by and I could "spoil" them just a little....I sure do miss my Nick and our conversations.....

Tina, thank you for the pictures and they look delish! Kathy has started doing that type of cooking and I really need to get out there and try it...I'm told around here, our Mexican foods aren't too "real"....

Once again, not sure what I might get into this afternoon...Still deciding on a block for the Christmas swap so just might work on that.....
For my dinner, left over zucchini boat and maybe add a baked potato...Also have banana bread for afters......

You all have a good rest of the day......(I think of my Cindy every time I write that...She always ended her phone calls that way)......

Happy eating....................

Hi everyone!
Mary, so sorry to hear about Albert but I'm glad they let you go see him. I know how those dishwasher cleanings go, Frankie has had to do ours a couple times now. I may start looking for a new one, mine is over 20 years old. They had on the news the other night that we all should be using our dishwashers more because they use so much less water, I need to get in the habit of putting stuff in mine throughout the day and running it in the evening. It's not that I LOVE handwashing but it's just something I do 🤷‍♀️
Becca, I love spoiling my kids too, it's the best huh 🥰 and I love country style steaks!
Jana, that's an awesome story! How cool! Sarah is so lucky to have you close enough to take food for them, I'm sure she appreciates it a lot!
Irish, I sure hope they can help Scout.
Thank you all for the compliments about the gorditas. Just an FYI, we've been as far as California and then all the way to Virginia and I have to say that we think NM especially SWNM has the best and most authentic Mexican food..... we have withdrawals when we're gone for more than a couple of days LOL I also know that up around Indiana has awesome comfort food! I could be a foodie 🤣😂
Supper tonight is beef brisket, baked potatoe and salad.
Tina

Tina, your Gorditas look delicious. You must not have been in the right place in California.
We are less than 2 hours from the Mexican border, and there are some really great Mexican food places around here. Not the big chain restaurants, but smaller independent places.

Maryz, so glad you get to visit with Albert. Sounds like SIL and BIL had a heck of a time with the house. I can relate.

Jana, that's a great story about Sarah. I bet she did think it was a hoax. lol

Becca, sounds like you had a nice visit. Glad you got your walk in early. That's what I've been trying to do as well.

Irish, so sorry to hear about Scout. Fingers crossed it's nothing serious and he has some good years left. It's so sad when they get old.

No dinner here tonight. We had a big hot corned beef on rye sandwich for a late lunch. It was so delicious, but I still not hungry.

Have a lovely evening.
