Good RAINY morning! We were awakened by a thunderstorm early. Well, DH was awakened. I slept through it—it’s just rumbling, bass heavy music to my sleeping ears. We have had showers continuing. It is coming down slowly, so it’s soaking in where it’s needed.
Last evening I walked out to the far end of the pasture where the cows were hanging out to see if Covid wanted to come home and have some dinner. He thought about it for a minute, then decided my fingers looked more appetizing than the brown grass he was nibbling. So, we made our little procession the half mile home… Boomer in the lead, then me with Covid alternating between sucking on my fingers , butting me in the rear, or falling behind then racing to catch up and butt me. Odie brought up the end. It’s quite a little parade single file along the worn cattle trails. This morning I left Covid in his pen and hung his breakfast pail on the fence in the rain. He will probably sleep in his shed much of the day.
Mary—that was quite an “oops!” by Foxy! I’m sure everyone was quite awakened. Maybe there will be more quilt shops near the lumber yard, or even a winery. Sounds like you might be in need of both! So sorry about Albert. These are strange times for hospitals, and sad for family members at a time when they need each other. Thanks for the Yankee dip sandwich “recipe”. I’ll have to try it.
And, yes, I decided to do the Christmas swap. I need my head examined. I have piles of blocks that need put together, not to mention a few tops that need quilted. I had to explain to DH yesterday, that I’m not new at this. He could go to thrift shops or flea markets and find piles of quilt blocks that were made and not put together, and he could find piles of tops that needed to be sandwiched and quilted. I told him I was just one in a long line of quilters…
Carole—my heart grieves with you for Luke.
Becca—a new haircut feels like a full makeover!
Jana—Odie and Boomer are really getting white in the face here. I feel Sandee’s pain. I wish someone would keep my pantry in order!!!
Lori—lunch sounds wonderful! I’m going to see my DD tomorrow, but we will probably get take out from a favorite Chinese place.
DH was home for breakfast, so I got sidetracked as usual. He brought an Annie’s catalog in the mail, so I had to peruse it, of course! I seldom order from them, but there are some good ideas in it.
Dinner tonight—probably must goes. I have spicy pork, rice, pie and will just need to add a salad. I’ll probably bring chicken home tomorrow evening.
You can find me working in my sewing room creating a new prototype block for the Christmas swap and enjoying seeing the rain drops hit the pond for as long as it lasts.
Bon appétit!

Good afternoon from hot, sunny, SW. Pa...We did have a hard rain night before last but we sure need more....Now, the grass is a lovely shade of tan/brown....This is the way Jim always liked to see it come August, when he was tired of the weekly mowing.....
Chickie, so glad to see you fix the table....As Becca said, you really have a neat little parade going on, don't you? I'm kind of thinking like you with the Christmas swap, why when I have so many projects undone....But, I'm also thinking, this might get me in the "groove" again, give me that push!
Mary, been thinking of you and my heart goes out to you and the family...It would be hard having someone in the hospital and not able to see them but as long as Albert's wife is with him, that's who counts.......And was glad to hear Foxy wasn't in the "dog house" too long....Funny how they have you right around their little paw and just how can you be upset with them for very long.....
Becca, a haircut can mean so much, makes you feel like a different person.....We certainly aren't getting rain every day and we sure need it...But, then I don't have to be out with the weed whacker...Just have to make sure I water all the new plants and that's about it.....
Today was my date with the Maytag couple, all washed, dried and put away (I have soooo much)....Not sure what I'm going to do now but I have a couple new books I could get into....Yesterday, I had another appointment with my chiropractor and don't want to do anything to mess up his work...He did kind of warn me, no more moving and no more unloading mulch...I did give him a start!...You know that little hammer they check the reflexes with? Well, when he checks my arms, above and below the elbow, I turn black and blue and I mean, I have some bruises....He was really taken aback when he saw them but that's me, look at me and I bruise...
For dinner, right now, can't think of anything...But, there's always cheese and crackers...My sister gave me a little Limburger cheese (the stinky kind) so I could sample that...Our Dad used to love it but when he got it, it came in a brick and you had to clean off the casing...My Mom would hate it if anyone would stop in after he cleaned the cheese, lol....What my sister got is in a cream form but it still smells the same, lol.....
You all have a good rest of the day.......
Happy eating..................
Eagle Update: The Florida eagles have fledged but are spending a lot of time at the nest...The parents still, every once in awhile, bring food back to the nest...Yesterday, the eaglets spent most of the day at the pond, taking long baths....So much fun to watch....
