SUPPER CLUB - Wed, July 8

Post by purrfect-lady » Wed Jul 08, 2020 6:48 am

Good morning,

We are camping! Finally made it to the Oregon Coast. Had an off and on rainy drive down here - 4-1/2 hrs - but a sunny window to walk the beach once we got here. We sat out under our awning and watched it rain again after that - cooked and ate our Yankee dip sandwiches. Finally moved inside. Our friends came by about 6:30 for a visit. Their campsite is a bit of a hike from ours. Today, we might explore the little town, Nehalem. Or I might sew/read/relax. Our friend is working from his trailer so at least he won't be able to socialize until evening. He's a doctor and teaches at a medical school but all classes are on line right now - even "clinicals". It's a strange time.

Yesterday Foxy began his day (and mine) at 4:15am with a hairball on the bed. He ended it by jumping onto the new plant shelf Bill put up in the trailer under our big window. And the shelf, plants (and dirt!!), and cat all came crashing down. Didn't really want those plants anyway, I guess. Silly cat! We saw a lumber store a mile or two away so we're going to go see if we can find things we need to do repairs. Foxy misses "his" new perch!

Albert is slipping away. I talked with my niece 3x yesterday but we decided to go on with our camping trip as we can't see him in the hospital and there's just nothing for us to do. Even most of his own family can't see him as the hospital is VERY strict about their one person a day rule. So for now that person is his wife of 62 years. And I know that's who he wants there. I was only 6 when they eloped. Boy, do I remember that! And our parents reaction when they found out! lol!

CHICKIE - a Yankee dip sandwich is a burger, shaped like the hoagie bun it's served with. Same au jus sauce. Fun haying memories for you! You had a pretty responsible job for a teenager! Hope you decide to join the Christmas swap. They are the most fun swaps of all!

LORI - I have you a fake name for my new project yesterday - it's called "Starlit Night Skies" in McCall's most recent issue.

JANA - there's a reason they made up that old saying - "kids will be kids"! lol! Have YOU thought about joining the fun in Tina's Christmas swap?

IRISH - I DO remember the story of how you met Jim! :D I would think you would love the smell of new hay! lol!

BECCA - you get more done in an extra hour waiting for appointment time than I do all day long!

Supper tonight is going to be tacos, I think, cooked on the outdoor stove. I do the prep work inside and Bill does the spoon wielding outside.

Hope your supper is a good one!

Good morning!

Beautiful, bright and heading to hot today. A bit of haze from a fire somewhere around here. We get smoke from a far away as Idaho.

Mary - it sounds wonderful in Oregon right now. Prayers for Albert and all the family. Exploring small towns is always fun. Foxy was just testing the new shelf.

Becca - oh, dinner here gets changed all the time! Sandee is working with the school she teaches at on how to continue teaching remotely. Sandee is extremely high risk for the virus.

It is a sad day over at Sandee's house. Her little poodle, Spikey passed on. Sandee had three dogs, Spikey was the oldest. She has the sister from the same litter, so Sugar is getting old too.

Not much going on here. Making a To Do list and a grocery list. Michael has been rearranging my butler's pantry - it is a large walk in storage closet, right near my kitchen . It has lots of things, so I let him keep it in order. That way, he leaves my kitchen alone! Later I am heading to the Batt Cave.

Dinner - chef salads

Stay Safe!
Hugs,
Jana

Mary, I checked out the pattern yesterday. I really like a dark blue background. Soryy about Albert. Hope he is comfortable. So glad family gets to be with him. Foxy sure was testing your patients yesterday. Silly kitty. I'm sure you are enjoying the coast.

Becca, doesn't it feel great to finally get a haircut. Such a simple thing makes you feel better instantly.

Jana, how nice that he keeps it organized for you. Bill has never organized or cleaned a cupboard in his life. So sorry about Sandee's little dog. It's never easy loosing a furr baby.

Yesterday we went out to lunch for the 1st time since January. We went to a local Mexican restaurant and had delicious short rib tacos with goat cheese. They are so yummy. They only have patio dining. It was perfect. We ate late so no dinner last night.

Tonight I need to cook up some chicken breasts before they go bad. Maybe with some angel hair pasta with garlic, butter, olive oil, and fresh parsley, with a side of broccoli. And of course some garlic bread. I'm hungry already.

Have a lovely day.

Lori 8-)
