SUPPER CLUB - Tuesday, July 7th

Post by purrfect-lady » Tue Jul 07, 2020 6:18 am

Good morning,

We are packed for camping except for last minute morning things. We will be on the road around 0830, I think. It's about a 5-hr drive to our campground. Our rezzie is for 4 nights. We were thinking of spending a fifth night someplace on the way home but we'll see how Albert is doing. He's been moved to ICU and now has pneumonia, is septic, and has "unexplained bleeding" on top of everything else.

WE called the Health Dept yesterday about the rats and garbage. They are sending an officer out to inspect and said they will let us know what comes of it. We expect nothing, but it made us feel like we were doing something. And maybe it will shake Vicki up a bit and she will clean up her act.   We can dream, can't we?

Bill found his keys! Relief. To get a new key would have been $200! They are all computerized nowadays. They had bounced out of his pocket while mowing with the tractor and were in the grass close to the driveway.

BECCA - glad CA's blood work all came back good! My teenage job was mostly just babysitting. I did pick strawberries for a short while. Growing up so rural, there were no stores, restaurants, pools, or any other job opportunities for youth. Now I only live 2 miles from where we lived back then, but it's no longer so rural! We even have 2 McDonald's, 3 Subways, and 5 Starbucks! Kids can work everywhere!

CHICKIE - I would love to taste that blackberry jalapeno jelly! Yum! I like spicey! What a busy day you and your cowboys had! Poor little Covid. He thought he escaped by running to his secret camp!

ROSEBUD - your tree block will be even more special if you design it yourself! You could even expand it into a quilt pattern and submit it to a magazine and become rich!!

TINA - sorry you had a bad night of no sleep. They happen. I try never to do all my ugly chores in one day. I get overtired and over-achy and then can't sleep.

JANA - what was your list composed of? Low risk people? Places? Activities? Happy Birthday to your Aaron.

LORI - I think my quilt is called Stars in the Skies. It's on the cover of the J/J 2020 issue of McCall's magazine. You can Google it. My magazine is packed into the trailer right now - plus, the cat is back on my lap. lol!

I'm not sure what supper will be tonite in camp. Probably Yankee dip sandwiches w/ au jus. Our other menus for the next four nights are spaghetti, tacos, and sweet & sour chicken over rice. We usually cook outside when camping which means Bill does it. :D Another couple (Mark & Sherri) will be joining us, but their campsite is on the other side of the campground. Due to Covid, interaction with them will be mostly limited to distanced happy hours. I'm not sure what internet we'll have but Bill says he's taking the computer so I may be here tomorrow - or not.

hope you have a super supper!

Good morning from another hot, sunny, SW. Pa....I think we're about to set a record in our "high" temps...Unusual for our area, but I don't mind it, plus it's summer.....

Mary, by now, you're probably off and running....So, so sorry to hear about Albert, will continue to keep him in my prayers...Hoping you're able to relax and enjoy your "away" time...Sometimes, just getting away works miracles...I'm still so surprised that something hasn't been done about the next door problems...Just doesn't seem right! Maybe if and when someone comes to look around, a rat takes a nip, then something will be done.....I don't get that magazine any longer but will have to check out the pattern. Does sound super.....
Funny thinking back about the 1st jobs...I was a "water/relish tray" gal and only worked on Sundays...Of course I was only 15/16 at the time but it was fun...And I was not a "happy farmer" but my sister loved living on the farm...But, it was hard work and I still have nightmares about those nasty chickens, lol....Hauling hay, if you remember, is how I met Jim (in a way)....Oh the memories.....
Also glad Bill found the keys...We lost a set of our's and paid dearly....I always thought, as soon as we got new ones, they'd show up but, never did.....Kevin did tell me, he just went on line, found a place that makes them and it hardly cost anything.....

Becca, Seems, you've accomplished a lot already this morning....Me not so much (but that's me most mornings) It seems, I just don't have that much to do any more, which if fine with me......Your dinner sounds really, really good.....

Chickie, reading through your post from yesterday, sounds like you're a real ranch gal...I have a feeling, you have some very unhappy bulls...That was never part of our farming, thank goodness.....

Yesterday I had an appointment with my chiropractor and of course he gave me "the look" for not coming sooner, so I get to go back again tomorrow...But, I think today, I'm running over to Sam's Club and see what damage I can do...
Remember when I used to wait for Mr. Schwan or the UPS man to come by in their shorts...Often think about Joanne waiting for her garbage man...Well, the park is working on the streets and we scads of men running around in tank tops and shorts...No matter which window I look out, there's a truck and a few men....Lots and lots of eye candy going on today.....

For my dinner, might depend on what I find at Sam's or what might fall out of the fridge...But, there's always that bowl of cereal......

You all have a safe, super day......

Happy eating..................

Good morning!

I am in my designated space and Michael is inside. I googled about how long - anywhere from 30 - 90 minutes. Not too bad.

Dinner - I will scrounge around for me and have no idea how Michael will feel.

Mary - happy trails to you! Prayers for Al. Such a hard thing to go through and in this hard times too. Glad Bill found his keys. Michael left his keys to everything in the mailbox lock one day. One of the neighbors on the other street found them and walked to each house until she found the owners - US! Thank goodness she was persistent.

Becca - I have decided to just keep my bangs trimmed myself. I do a fair job and just let the rest grow long again.

Irish - I remember you watching the hunks, but ours just door bell ditch packages now. Gone before I get to the door.

The kids all leave to go camping together in a hour or so. The campground is about a hour east, just past Park City. Sarah is buying her own trailer. A friend is selling theirs, so come August, she will have it. It isn't huge, just a bumper pull. She has Tundra truck that will handle it easily. They don't need anything big, as it is just the two of them and Ethan. Shortly he wants his own tent outside to sleep in.

On the fourth our little Baden thought it would be great fun to ride a bike down the slide at his Aunt's house. Crenda's family has a habit of paying for some dumb stunts. Her oldest brother thought up this one, his bulb is a bit dim! No one took it seriously except the 4 year old. Luckily Crenda's mom just happened to see Baden and a slightly older cousin at the top of the slide, with a bike and yelled. Crenda stopped those 2 in the knick of time. Tanner won 50 dollars that same day from tossing a baseball in the air, hitting a distance, through the basketball hoop, which was across the yard. Tanner is almost 10. He kept at trying for a good hour or so, readjusting where he hit the ball from and finally made it. I now know why I have so many sparkles in my hair!

Well, need to get my to do list done,

Stay Safe!
Hugs,
Jana

Good late afternoon! I’ve kept busy all day starting with picking blackberries before coffee. I barely got a pint. This heat and no rain has pretty much left my bountiful crop a pitiful disaster. Last year I was picking several gallons at a time!

I fed Covid before I went to pick the berries, and as soon as he ate, he slipped through the loose fence wires and was off to find his friends. I’ll go out later and find him and see if he will come home with me. He really is too small to not have some feed at home instead of only grass. He seems none the worse for his little ordeal yesterday.

MaryZ—Albert’s condition sure doesn’t sound positive. I hope he isn’t in pain. Hopefully you will have some reaction by the Health Department! Just hope the rats don’t decide to move to your side of the property line if her garbage gets cleaned up!!! Wow! That was certainly fortunate that Bill found his keys!!! Remember those old “Clapper” commercials to help find your keys? LOL! Since the fire, we have only had one set of keys for each of our vehicles, and that was only because there was a set in each vehicle. That also was fortunate as the vehicles could be moved away from the fire and saved. Is a Yankee dip sandwich different from a French dip sandwich?

Becca—always good news when the blood work comes back good! I’m always getting times mixed up. Good to know I’m not the only one! Enjoy your cooler weather!

Irish—good evening! My first “real” job was running the candy counter at the SH Kress dime store. Even though I was still in high school, I was in charge of it—ordering candies and nuts, cooking the nuts and popcorn, weighing and bagging candies, keeping everything super clean, decorating the Chocolate Valentine’s hearts and Easter bunnies and eggs. I even dressed up as the Easter Bunny. I also worked the front cash register when they needed me. After I graduated high school, I went to work for a CPA and became a junior accountant. Our sons did all the haying in the hay meadow last week. One year I drove the tractor pulling the rake and took out a gate when I parked. A few years later DGS did the same thing, so I didn’t feel so bad. I do remember you and Joanne waiting for your eye candy to come by!!! Such fun! Sounds like you are having a lot of fun today!

Jana—hope all went well this morning for Michael! You have good neighbors to persist with the keys! Oh, my! I can’t imagine biking down a slide!!! Definitely why moms and grandmoms get gray or white!!! Congrats to Tanner for working so hard for a payoff! Don’t you wish they would work that hard at their chores!

Lori—you were even later than I was yesterday! I can eat Cheerios any time, too. And, like babies, I’ll take them for snacks. I haven’t helped with the cattle working for a couple years, but they were short handed yesterday. Actually, I don’t mind it at all. Two of our sons and two of their friends were doing the hard stuff, and DH came over and got roped in as well. I do love my life out here in the middle of no where!!!

I made more masks for DD’s co-workers and started a prototype block for the Christmas swap. I’m giving it serious thought about joining. There was also house cleaning, Choc walking and all the normal time catchers like breakfast and lunch.

Dinner last night was teriyaki pork tenderloin with some jalapeno peppers. It was a big hit, so reruns tonight. Sides of rice, Normandy veggies in a lite cream sauce, and I’m cooking an artichoke to go with mine.

Bon appétit!
