SUPPER CLUB - Wed, July 1st

Post by purrfect-lady » Wed Jul 01, 2020 7:23 am

Good morning

Can't believe it's July already. Tomorrow my baby grandson will be 23. Where do the years go? We are only 56* this morning but we're going to soar all the way up to 64* later today. I'll be working outside most of the day. Having 2 couples over for a campfire on July 4th an have some spiffing up to do around the patio and firepit. But I'll probably be working a bit on my Christmas swap blocks, too.

IRISH - welcome home from your camping trip! Sounds idyllic where you were. I know going again for the Fourth is tempting, but Foxy and I are glad you are staying home for B.G. She needs you, too. And I see you've joined us in the Christmas Swap! Hooray! Now who else can we entice . . . .

JANA - glad the shopping trip is behind you. I miss the days when we'd stroll around Costco just looking. And yes - the sticker shock! Bill picked up sugar for me for jam and I almost fell over when I learned what he had to pay - twice the usual. Nice to finally have the road paved. My neighbor I walk with lives down a dirt road with 7 other homes. there was a chance to have the road paved for free a while back but ONE neighbor said no, so no one got pavement. The dust in summer is awful!

BECCA - glad you are all set for winter and for summer! Here we have electric furnace or wood stoves. No A/C. Most homes don't have it here as we have no real need.

CHICKIE - lots of fuschia trees here, too. To be clear - not big trees - more like tree roses. But they are pretty. I haven't had a fuschia in several years. I used to get them for Mother's Day, but haven't for a long time now. Plus, they require care and we are gone a lot and you can only take so many plants with you. EVeryone is going to love all their Marine things. So sorry your Marine can't come home on leave, but like you said - better he stay safe - and all of you, too.

CAROL - that was a fast home repair! Bill never knows where anything is either. After 28 years in this house, he still maintains he doesn't know where anything in the kitchen goes so if he empties the dishwasher all the plasticware and some pans and utensils just get set on the counters. lol! And Scottie gets 2 different meds a month and if something happens to me, Scottie is doomed to a life of parasites and fleas.

I haven't figured out supper yet, but I have chili in the freezer and that's always good over a baked potato. But we'll see. For now - I'm off on my daily walk.

Happy supper!

Good morning!
Mary, your temps sound perfect to me! Oh my gosh, Frankie is as bad about not knowing where things go! He puts the dishes away and sometimes it's a scavenger hunt for me to find them! I about took my frying pan to him the other night..... I'd been looking for my almost new mayo jar and couldn't find it, we had sandwiches the other day and I knew I had it. He put the things away off the table and sat it on the step stool you gave us, unfortunately I didn't find it till 5 days later 😡😡😡 I was hot under the collar to say the least!
I need to look up fuchsia tree, it sounds pretty.
Irish, yay thanks for joining the Christmas swap!
I'm upset with Sammy Girl, she peed in the floor this morning and I had just cleaned the litter box yesterday evening, she's locked outside at the moment cause this cat mommy is really upset with her.
Well Frankie is putting wainscot in our bedroom, we've had the boards for about 4 years. He made me laugh. He came in Monday all disgusted telling me that I needed to decide about these boards in the garage that are for our bedroom, either they need to be put up or he's throwing them away. 😂🤣 I told him that it's his job to put them up not mine so whenever he's ready. So he started them yesterday. We've had them 3 or 4 years, just waiting for him to put them up 🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️😂🤣 I was trying to be nice and not nag him! See what nice gets me?!
Well I'm not sure about supper yet and he's wanting my help so I better go.
Tina

Good morning!

Oh men and knowing where things are! Michael has taken it upon himself to organize his tools and model railroad stuff. Thought he knew better for my kitchen. That thought was quickly ended! He says that men don't where things are, because, we women are always moving them. Well, yes, we move them, to put away the mess! He still asks me where everything is, because I am very smart and know these things! LOL!

Today is a quiet day. Not much going on. Need to check on the road construction to see if Ethan can still ride his bike over. If the tractors are working, he can't ride over.

Dinner - unknown at the moment, but maybe banned and chips. I have the banned and a recipe I can try. Also have the malt vinegar.

Mary - your cool temps are heading my way, keeping us very nice temp wise. Somehow our grandbabies keep growing up!

Tina - it is good for kids to have a place to be a kid! Your house is perfect!

Becca - glad the heat pump is all installed and working great, one less thing to worry about.

Well, I am off to find something to get in trouble with,

Hugs,
Jana

Good afternoon from warm, sunny, SW. Pa....Another summery day, going to high 80s and really no rain in sight....My poor yard is already turning brown and I'm not about to start watering (the grass)...Twice a day, I try to water all the new plants....Yesterday, there was mention of Rose of Sharon bushes...We had them at the other house, thousands came up every spring and I was forever chopping them down...Now, I wish I had dug some out and brought to this house...Jim's Dad had planted a row which would now be close to 75 years and Jim put in another row about 20 years ago and they are gorgeous, different shades of pink/rose.....Maybe one of these days, I'll go visit the old house and ask if I can dig some out.....

Mary, I agree about the "sticker shock" and have to laugh when they say, give it time, the prices will come down....Who is trying to kid who, once they go up, that's it! I've heard a few say, they were going shopping and stocking up, be prepared for the next round of "stay at home".....I am quite satisfied to stay home and Baby Girl is happy about it also, lol....Bright and early this morning, I had a visitor...Kevin was out on his bike and stopped over...Didn't come to see me, he said, he missed BG....Kevin is our funny one, he had just finished his grocery shopping, on his bike, meanwhile the truck sits in the garage......Silly boy.....

Tina, yes you wore me down! But, it might take me awhile to pick a block, lol.....I don't think you can ever figure out the workings of a cat...Maybe Sammy didn't like the clean box..But, if she continues to do it, she might have an infection...The last time I changed brands of litter, BG let me know she didn't approve....
I have no one to blame for putting things away in this house and still, there are things that come up missing...But, I also know, Jim has a way of letting me know, he's "here", so all is good.....

Chickie, I feel bad that you won't be seeing your Marine but it is for the best...It's tough when those "kids" grow up and are away...I still can't believe my little Nick is in England...He told me, the feeling is like no other when you're sitting on the wing of a fighter jet...As long as they like or enjoy what they're doing and are safe, that's all that matters.....

Jana, I was thinking of going to Sam's club but then I thought I'd probably end up buying more than I need so decided to stay home...Doesn't take much to talk me out of grocery shopping, lol...AND you're not the only one getting roads paved...I've noticed big trucks and equipment going past the house and then Kevin told me, they are paving down around the bend...Well, I think they might be headed up this way too...Our roads are all done so it's just a top coating, I guess.....Seems, there's always something going on...Did you find something to get in trouble with?

Becca, Washing windows??? When that urge hits me, I just quickly close the blinds....Just the other day, my sister asked if I had started and she said, she's waiting for me.....That might be on the list for Fall (not saying which Fall)......
I think your grilling decided dinner for me....Why wait until the 4th......

You all have a great rest of the day.......

Happy eating...................

OK - just got off the phone with Aaron - today was a fun day! He had played up on I-80 at the Wyoming border today. Salt Lake shares Aaron with the counties up there one day a week. Well today was fun! He had to respond to a heart attack on the freeway. Then on the way to another call, a huge - I mean huge - mining truck dump bed was being moved to a mine in Wyoming. Aaron's truck is quite big as well, and the troopers were escorting the oversize load and Aaron was needed on the other side of this truck. So the troopers had the truck hauling the dump bed pull as far right as it could, and Aaron, then drove his truck underneath the dump truck bed. There was plenty of room, height wise. so he easily got by. Then, the call he was heading toward was cows on the freeway. Dispatch received over 30 - 911 calls about the cows. It was a mama, calf and a bull. A family affair! They had broken through two fences, one on the ranch and one on the freeway. Just munching on the grass. To get to the fences, they all had to cross a old fashioned cattle guard, the ones with the metal bars, that is supposed to keep them on their side, well that didn't stop those three. So here you have several troopers and Aaron trying to steer the bull back to hole in the fence. Chasing him up and down the traffic lanes, which they had stopped. The bull was having no part of cooperating! It took a bit of time, but they finally succeeded. So cattle herding is added to Aaron's resume! He is now off until the 4th of July - Saturday - another adventure I am sure.

Never a dull moment on the freeways here!
