SUPPER CLUB - Monday, May 18

Post by purrfect-lady » Mon May 18, 2020 6:20 am

Good morning!

Today is the anniversary of Eruption of Mt. St. Helens. A big day here. I think it's been 40 years. That was really scary for those of us who were camping and the ash started falling on us! We had ash in our tent for years after that!

Last night's HH with Bill's gym friends and their DH's was quite fun! We thought we'd move to the campfire but weather seemed too iffy so stayed with the garage idea. We easily were seated about 8 feet apart.

In sewing news, not too much to report - I finished one pair of pillowcases and cut out another. Christmas gifts. So today, I hope to get a little more done in the sewing room - perhaps even clean it! It's in serious need.

CHICKIE - yay! You're here! Covid sounds like he's a real corker! I'm getting attached to him! Your food budget for birds and your other critters sounds like it's bigger than Doyle's! lol! That's a lot of juice and jam! Did you see the recipe I shared here yesterday for Frosty Paws? Don't want to leave out Boomer and Odie!

JANA - when I was a teen, I tried laying out in the sun with the baby oil, but I just kept getting itchy. Then bored. And being Irish, I burned easily, so I finally decided it wasn't for me. I still don't like being in direct sun. Thanks for cracker ideas. But I would have had to have the crackers! lol! But they are on the list for later this week when we're going to mask and glove and brave the stores.

BECCA - two kids in one week! It's good to be you! They are such a blessing to you!

LORI - silly me, I hadn't thought about having to clear space in the bathroom for FIL. You have a big job ahead of you getting things prepared. Your boys sound like mine. Any time I'm in the kitchen, even if I'm just getting a glass of water, Scott is at my feet, ready to help if there's any licking or tasting to be done!

I dug deep into the pantry yesterday and found mixed nuts, a box of Triscuits, and cheese in the fridge. Just right. I thought about things like BBQ'd meatballs and deviled eggs, but I wanted something that I could put on individual (per couple) serving dishes and not have a community food table. I heated small bowls of leftover split pea soup for our supper after everyone left. Tonight will be the same, maybe with a slice of toast to go with.

What's the plan for your supper?

Good morning!

We are cooler today, but oh so windy!

Not much going on here. Michael is working today. He has to create a process to keep trains running, while the crews install new train control software. He is very good at that.

So I will be sewing, doing uglies and hopefully getting in trouble! I need to break up the stir-craziness around here.

Ethan is in his last week of school for this school year. He is so ready to be done!

Mary - HH is just that when you plan a party! Is there much room to quilt more than a grid between all the yo-yos?

Becca - aren't kids the best! Mine brought dinner over last night.

Dinner - no idea - plenty to cook from, but to quote my brother Tommy, not in the mood! Finish that sentence with whatever- cook, clean ..... He would tell my mom that, when she was cooking something he was not fond of.

Well, like we have been teaching Ethan, get the uglies done, quickly! Must get going,

Hugs,
Jana

Mary, glad you had a good time with your DH's friends. Wow...I can't believe it's been that long since Mt. St. Helens. My Aunt lived in WA and she said there was ash in the flower beds for years. I could never do the baby oil thing. My Irish/English skin doesn't do well in the sun. I would always burn. Sunscreen today is so much more effective. I cover myself head to toe when I go to the beach. Then wear a hat and usually long sleeve linen shirt.

Becca, Most major decisions made regarding FIL have been my idea. He should have been living with us for the past 2 years, but DH didn't want to disrupt his life. Now with his health and eyesight failing, there is no question about it. The one thing keeping him there was his twin sister. They talk everyday, but don't see each other very often. She still drives, but she live a few towns over and will only drive in good weather thankfully.

Jana, lucky you to have dinner delivered.

Well today I need to clean. I have sheets in the laundry already. Our walk is being postponed by drizzly rain. It should stop in a couple hours and we'll be out the door. The boys keep giving me sad looks.

For dinner I think I'll grill up some chicken, with mashed potatoes and fresh broccoli.

Have a lovely day.
Lori 8-)
