SUPPER CLUB - Wed, May 13th

Post by purrfect-lady » Wed May 13, 2020 5:30 am

Good morning!

It's raining softly but steadily so no walking today. Maybe Bill will load my tea party quilt. He draped it over the frame about 9 days ago saying it's next. I try to be patient, but I've got 14 quilt tops backed up waiting to be quilted and 2 more almost ready. Yesterday I put one set of spring swap blocks together and I just need to add another border to it. Then last night I finished my yo yo strips so today I plan to finish putting that project together today and choose a backing for it. Or... maybe go shopping! See next happy paragraph!

I got an e-mail from my favorite quilt shop, Trains, in Tacoma. They closed down last June, but she owns the building outright, lives above it, and has a ton of fabric left. So she is able to open the store by appointment and now says it will be open Tues through Sat the rest of May and everything is 40% off. I'm so tempted and have serious plans of giving in to this temptation! She will continue operating like this until the fabric is all gone. I'm not sure how she's qualifying as an 'essential business', and I'm not asking.

BECCA - Once again, you were a white tornado, cleaning and washing. I might sweep my kitchen floor today. Or I might not. lol! Sounds like you were getting your lawn aerated for free last night!

JANA - I hope the decision is made soon so you are able to easily type out more family stories! I agree with LORI - you should get both!

LORI - glad you had a good outing at the LQS. I'm sure Trains will only have a couple shoppers, if that, when I go. And I'll wear my mask and maybe take a few tucked in my purse to give away if I see someone who needs one. Your supper sounded good! I love BLTA's!

Well, tonite will be another round of soup. I did manage to hold it down to the small (3 qt) crockpot at least. I've already got tomorrow's supper planned - baked potatoes with steamed broccoli and cheese sauce & bacon bits. And a simple side salad.

What is whetting your appetite for tonite?

Becca, I'll set a place for you.

Mary, a few of the LQS have been open for a while. You need fabric and thread to make masks don't you? You should go get something. It will definitely lift your spirits.

Well I got new from my DD this morning that her cat hasn't eaten for a week and has a tumor they can't get to. Tabatha is 13 and her sister kitty died a few years ago. It makes me sad when people lose their furry friends. It's so heart breaking.

I going to a friends house today to swim, weather permitting. It's a little chilly right now. I'm going to start moving things today. I'll have to clean the mosaic room 1st and move stuff to the garage. Then I can move my sewing stuff in there.

For dinner I'm going to bake chicken and a potato, and maybe some spinach salad again. I need to finish it up before it goes bad.

Have a lovely day.

Good afternoon from a very sunny, WARM, SW. Pa....We were promised warmer weather and sure enough, we have it....So nice to finally have the doors and windows open...Baby Girl is really enjoying the fresh air.......I should have done laundry, just to be able to hang out but didn't have enough to fill the washer, darn......

Mary, I agree with Becca, you need to slow down and let Mr. Bill catch up...Also agree, he'd probably rather be outside.....Boy, I'd really be tempted to take a trip to the quilt shop...And as you said, they're probably won't be a lot of shoppers so you should be fine...I did hear our JoAnns is to be open tomorrow so I'm thinking, maybe not tomorrow but next week, taking a ride...If there are too many people, I just won't go in...I need to get enough fabric to make a valance to match the quilt on my bed...I did have matching curtains but in the move, thought I'd never use them and probably put them in the GoodWill bag....Some things you should never get rid of, I guess.....

Becca, you really are a whirl wind, aren't you? I'm like Mary, maybe run the vacuum, but then again, maybe not....Thank goodness this place is new and I don't have walls that need washed...I've even noticed, the difference in this place and the old house, nothing gets dirty here...I think all the dust bunnies stayed at the old house.....Strawberries, my absolute favorite...We have a place that makes the best strawberry pies and the next time I get in the car, I'm sure Ruby will head that way...(She's heard me whining) .....

Lori, I'm with the rest about your dinner, last night.....I could eat a sandwich and salad every night of the week and if that sandwich has tomato on it, that's the best!

Really haven't decided what I'm going to get into, maybe find my shovel and play in the dirt...I spent the morning, being nebby...People across the street had their single wide pulled out this morning and are moving it to the mountains....So, I watched as the movers got it ready and then off they went...What a show...Next they'll be moving in a new home and that will be exciting to watch...No wonder I don't get much accomplished! Then I had a call from 1 of the lunch gals and she asked if she could stop, had a gift for me....She brought me a garden flag and it was so hard not to give her a hug...I really do miss my lunch gals....
Not sure what dinner might be, could be that sandwich and salad...I did buy a small table top grill that is still in the box so maybe if I put it together, I'll have a burger....Yesterday, I baked a Shoofly cake and for dinner, I had cheese and crackers and then 2 pieces of cake...Guess what I had for breakfast......Every once in awhile, I do try on the jeans and so far, with tugging, they still fit so I guess I'm ok...Of course if I do go to the beach with Kathy, I will not be packing a bathing suit!

You all have a great rest of the day.......

Happy eating....................

Good afternoon!

Down in the Batt Cave on my desktop computer. Been fussing around looking at laptops. Turns out that the laptop is for Michael, not me! But in trade, I just ordered a new tablet from Costco and it will be here next week. It is better than the one I toasted. Michael is still thinking about the laptop for him. It would replace a older machine he has upstairs, that is starting to give him fits keeping it running. Michael is very fussy about the operating system and refuses to use Windows 10. The laptop runs on Windows 7 Pro - what he wants. Fussy engineers!

My first of the two Jo Ann's orders arrived today - I can now quilt the skinnie I have been working on. And the fleece arrived too. Next week, the thread will make it's appearance. So since the fleece is here I will look and see what is in the novelty fabrics I have that is patriotic - red white and blue for another tote. I can get the parts ready to assemble, but need to get the magnetic closures before I do the final assembly. Right now seems like I always am missing something! LOL!

Dinner - the tacos will make their appearance tonight.

Stu came by last night - his new car showed a maintenance light, so he and Michael put the code reader on it and found what was going on - pre-warning for oil change coming up. Then he went with us as we went searching for the mysterious lights we see from my kitchen. We thought that we had them found - they were on again - no, drove to where we thought the lights were on and we were wrong. Continued on looking for them and spotted them across I-15, on the point of the mountain. There is a gravel quarry over there, but Michael was not convinced as we see 4 lights and these were only three together. I suggested that something on the level we were at blocked one of the lights. So we continued on, until we finally proved to Michael, by seeing all 4 lights that it was what we saw from the house. See what happens to your mind when you are stuck at home all these weeks! Our caboose has gone around the bend! LOL! These great big work lights are about 17 miles from my house, across the valley. I can see for a long distance here!

Mary - tell Bill that Windex makes a window cleaner that you attach to a hose and spray the outside windows with. We have one to try here. No ladders or rags to haul and fall off of! Michael has been going to do my outside windows for awhile.

Becca - Sarah, at my insistance is adding strawberries here. I am going to try growing them on the side of the barn, in rain gutters, filled with potting soil. Of course, I saw this on Pinterest, and they are giving me a hard time.

Lori - so sorry about the kitties. I sometimes think I should add another one here, after losing my Perry. But then, I just go up to Sarah's and get Smudge to cuddle up - he is very agreeable to that!

Irish - I am sending east some very nice weather - warm, but not too warm. I have not had a swimsuit is most of my married life - 45 years - I would look like a beached whale, that someone would think they needed to bury in the sand!

No new stories from Aaron, but that will soon change as traffic is back to normal, according to the traffic surveys on the road. There is one funny - two guys - Aaron called them rednecks, about 40 years old - stopped on the side of the freeway with a flat tire on a big Ford truck, lifted high, so you need a ladder to climb in it. Aaron was there, to protect them with his lights and truck. So he isjust sitting back, watching these two, trying to change this tire - first they put the jack in a very odd and dangerous place - Aaron suggested that it should go over in another spot, would be better. They moved it. Then they started to jack the truck up - Aaron noticed that the spare tire was still on the truck and if they jacked it up, the tire would be very high above the ground, to get it off. Again, Aaron mentioned this. Oh, they said and removed the spare then jacked up the truck. Then came time to remove the lug nuts - their lug wrench was for the standard lugs on a tire - not the fancy ones they added. So Aaron had the right tool and showed them how to change a tire. They were so impressed, the two of them suggested that Aaron should go to work for a NASCAR racing team, as he knew how to change a tire! Not this boy's first rodeo in tire changing! Aaron probably does 10-12 a day out on the freeways.

Stay safe!
Hugs,
Jana
