SUPPER CLUB - Sunday, April 26th
Good morning,
After a VERY wet Saturday, it's going to be a pretty day today. I hope to get our walk in early. There's always lots of walkers out on Sunday mornings.
Yesterday was sort of relaxed busy. I did 4 loads of wash, emptied and cleaned my curio cabinet and purged much of its contents, and washed walls and floor behind the fridge while Bill had it pulled out to put up shelf brackets where the old cabinet had been. In between times I've been working on another jigsaw puzzle. Our new fridge comes tomorrow morning so we moved everything to the far side of our deck to give the movers ample room to maneuver as they will come up the back deck steps and in through the slider. It's supposed to be rainy and those decks are slippery. I pray we have no mishaps. I also worked on my crazy blocks, finished fancy stitching the 120 I have done and have half of them sewn together. I took the first strip of sewn blocks to the bed to "fit" it and realized I need more blocks to get the length of drape I want. We have a very high bed. 488 blocks in all. Only 368 more to go. Sigh. JANA!!!!! This was your idea!!
BECCA - I haven't made porcupines in probably 38 years. How were they? Maybe one of these days I'll resurrect that dish. Sorry about losing your NP. We went through that a few years back - three different doctors in 3 years. They kept retiring! I hope you find the purrfect doc for you.
LORI - It's almost like we had supper together - tacos! Actually, we buy the big container of taco seasoning at Costco, but for a long time I just used Chili powder, cumin, a touch of oregano. And sometimes chicken instead of ground beef. Nice to have all your embroidery things together. I finally did that, too, about 3 yrs ago, but now I need to fine-tune it. I have so much stuff I know I'll never use, so I should take this quarantine as an opportunity to go through it all again and give it to the childrens hospital thrift shop. In the evenings I am working on my state birds (#35 is in the hoop now!) and also my yo-yo quilt. I'm coming down the home stretch on that project. I also have cross-stitch and hexi projects so I never lack for something to do in TV hours.
I was going to make spaghetti and meatballs tonite but we still have enough taco fixings so we'll be into the leftovers instead. But tomorrow will be the pasta!
What's your plan?

Good morning!
Mary, sounds like you have no problem at all keeping busy LOL I laugh because Holly is always telling me "mom when you get bored and have nothing to do can you do...." I wonder when that day will arrive LOL
Maybe your rain will hold off till after they deliver the fridge so it doesn't get slippery, fingers crossed.
Frankie is getting my swamp cooler up and running this morning, I can't take the 83°+ in the house and today we're supposed to be 10° warmer than yesterday. I'm not sure if it's the heat or what but something has my legs really swollen and hurting. I'm taking it easy today and see if I can rest my legs. We were outside till after 8 last night, it was a beautiful evening but can you believe as dry as we've been 3 mosquitoes found me!
Supper tonight isn't figured out yet. I've been wanting to make taco salads but I think Dad would like that so I might make that tomorrow, last night we had grilled burgers with cheese, green Chile, bacon, guacamole and lettuce and tomatoes with air French fries, we all loved that!

Good morning !
Mary - see, I always warned y'al that I was a trouble maker! Add Sarah in the mix too, she helped with the idea. It will be a great story quilt!
Tina - we haven't seen mosquitoes yet, but a fly dared to enter my house. Time to get out the swatters!
Becca - is the NP recommending anyone to take the place?
Dinner - may do tacos, with homemade flour tortillas. They may be banned tacos, so we will see....
My lovely assistant job was changed to grease monkey assistant. The tractor needed maintenace before mowing, so I helped there as well as straighten the work area in the garage. My Highlander stays on one side, Mikey's tools on the other of the two car garage. But things are over running in his space, so I helped in coming up with homes for things. Still needs more work. Only got the front lawns mowed before dark. So Monday will be the panel move day now.
Aaron stopped by with the girls. Lila had never seen Grandpa and the tractor. She made a beeline, straight for the tractor, wanting her ride.
Aaron just called - new story - the troopers were chasing a suspect on foot, on the freeway. The suspect was fast and ellusive. Finally the trooper apprehended the suspect, called dispatch, with a 1082 code - suspect in custody, now what do I do with this chicken? He and Aaron were chasing a chicken out on the freeway. Trooper thought to put it in the backseat of his unit, with the cage to keep the chicken corralled, but Aaron thought better and had a box they put the chicken in. I suggested he bring it to Sarah, but by rules, it had to go to animal control. I also asked, how did the trooper plan to handcuff his suspect? I know a I am a smart alec! Boy, those troopers and Aaron are bored!
Stay safe!
Hugs,
Jana

Good Morning Everyone!
Today is beautiful here in the high 70s low 80s. We had 2.68 inches of rain in April when the normal is 0.62 according to the paper. Everything is green and the weeds are tall! lol
Since I am Parliamentarian of the Guild I have been heading the Nominating committee. We finished yesterday and I submitted the article for the Newsletter. I am so glad that is finished! Now I can work on getting the weeds done this week.
Lori- I saw you had a Zoom meeting for your Guild. Was it for the Board only or the whole Guild? We had one with the Board only.
Tonight's dinner will be grilled marinated chicken cutlets, mashed potatoes, peas or broccoli, and cherry tomatoes. (I am not sure there is enough broccoli.) We do have Butter Pecan ice cream for dessert.
Stay well everyone!

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Sunday, April 26th
Hi Carol, nice to see you. Our Zoom meeting was for the board meeting. We discussed our having a regular meeting, but decided against it. I'm the Parliamentarian of our guild as well. Hope you and your family is well.
Jana, I have a funny story about one our our officers that put baby ducks in his car. There is a wild life preserve nearby where I worked. So in spring, there would be lots of baby ducks following mama around. They would literally stop traffic on a busy street. We would get many calls about the ducks in the roadway. Well you aren't supposed to disturb wild life, so we just let them take there time and meander across. So one day I guess there were some ducks in trouble, so the officer thought it was a good idea to load them in the car and take them back to the preserve. He did, but when he took them out there was one less than he put into the patrol car. He thought maybe he counted wrong and went on his way. A couple minutes later he hears a little chirping sound. Stops and looks everywhere and can't find this baby duck. Other officers come to help and finally they found it. It had managed to get inside the door of the car. They had to remove the inside door panel to get the duck out. It made the paper. I still make fun of him.
Tina, you must be getting our heat. It was 100 on Thursday, but has cooled off to the 90's since. Supposed to be 88 today. I don't usually turn on the A/C until it's about 84 in the house. I don't like the cold, and I really don't like the house closed up. My door and windows are almost always open.
Mary, I had threads in different places and it was driving me crazy. They are all hanging out together now.
Oh I have hexies, and hand sewn blocks enough to keep me busy for a long time. I pull my fridge out about every 2 months to clean and vacuum behind it. It doesn't take long because I do it often. It's on casters so it rolls out nice on my tile floor.
Tonight I will have leftovers from a couple days ago. With just me here I only need to cook about 3 times a week. And I always have what I like. Bill is a meat and potatoes kind of guy, so he's simple to cook for, but I like veggies and salad and fruits.
Have a lovely day.

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Sunday, April 26th
Good late afternoon from a very wet, soggy, dreary, chilly, SW. Pa....Not sure where this rain came from but it can go right back, NOW!....Yesterday was absolutely gorgeous, even had time to sit on the porch in my shorts...(Didn't want to scare the neighbors so I sat on the side porch)...But was able to get a lot accomplished, painting a couple of my porch tables, finally got the last box of books and the ladder out of the car and put the seats upright where they belong...One of these days, I might even break down and give Ruby a good bath and vacuum.....
Mary, for sure, you don't seem to ever be bored..But, I've often wondered what exactly bored might be, there's always something to do.....How exciting to get a new fridge....I was so determined, when I moved in here, keep the fridge "clutter" free...That lasted about a week and a half....You talking about your curio cabinet reminded me, I need to order a piece of glass for mine...The one misshape in the move was the bed slate falling against the side and breaking the glass....I keep forgetting because, the way it's sitting, you don't see the missing glass.....
Becca, it's always a job finding a new doc and then liking them....My "forever doc" didn't retire but changed insurances and all the staff, who had been with him forever, quit...When we were waiting for Jim to be admitted to the Memory Care, we needed the doc to sign papers and the new staff kept misplacing them...I figured, it was time, and Kathy made me an appointment with the doctor she and the girls had been seeing and this doctor is wonderful....I hope you have the same luck....It does mean a lot when you trust and like your doc.....Oh my, porcupine balls, it's been forever since I've heard anyone mention them....Used to be one of the kid's favorites.....
Jana, you know, you really should be writing a book...In hot pursuit of a chicken, oh my heavens....For sure, never a dull moment with your family...But, you wouldn't want it any other way, would you?
Oh my, you guys from out west and your warm weather....I have 1 day of semi nice warmth and I'm over joyed...Will be so happy when we finally get summer...I'm in heaven if it's 80 and sunny....
Tina, my daughter has a swamp cooler and it really does the job...AND, just maybe, you are doing too much, what do you think?????Glad to hear you're taking it easy today.....
I had just realized, I hadn't turned on the computer for 2 days...I really need to go back and get caught up....I think I'm done making masks....It seems everyone has them and hopefully, we'll soon all be back to normal and won't be needing them....But, in doing the last few, my machine was acting up so I have it in pieces and the belt broke on the other one, so, no sewing for a couple of days.....
On Friday, Kevin stopped over to pick up the latest masks he had asked for and also wanted to show off his new truck...He bought a new Chevy and it's bright red...Said he needed something to match the new masks I had made him......
Not much happening in my neighborhood....Everyone is "staying in place".....I might work on my machine and put it back together or maybe I'll just give it another day to rest.....
For dinner, I actually cooked, again...I made "clean out the fridge" chili and boy is it good...Of course I could never duplicate the recipe....A friend had sent over a loaf of bread and it was so perfect with the chili, so just might have a rerun for dinner....I usually know within the hour if the tummy is going to act up but so far so good....My sister had baked Old English cookies so that's my afters.....
You all have a good, safe day.....
Happy eating................

I'm thinking about asking Charlie (my son) if he will make a chef salad for supper tonight. We'll see what he says.
