SUPPER CLUB - Saturday, April 11th

Post by purrfect-lady » Sat Apr 11, 2020 7:21 am

Good morning,

Happy Easter weekend.

Yesterday I made some more tie masks for our veterinary hospital and an oversized one for our friend, Doyle. This is the third one I've made him. His wife confiscated the first one because I used U of WA fabric and that's where she went. So that left him with purple aloha floral that he refused to wear. So I made him a Seahawk one but he said it was too small. So then I made him a "Size Fathead" and I used outhouse fabric because sometimes he can be a bit of a potty mouth. He loved it!

Yesterday was a big day for us! We swung by the UPS store where Bill gloved and masked and went in to get our mail. Then we delivered masks, tossing them through the car window. In scraps of free time, I made more crazy blocks. I have 21 now! They are more fun than I imagined. I'm calling my quilt "Crazy Corona". It might be the purrfect one to be a coverlet for our king-sized bed. Because I'm using 5" squares of cheap muslin to back them. I wanted to make a king quilt with no batting so this just might be purrfect! Though it will take a LOT of blocks! I may need to make more scraps!

Today's plan - more yard work, more blocks, and whatever else comes up.

BECCA - I like fruitcake, too, but not all of them! I don't like them dry and they MUST have nuts in them. I love nuts.

JANA - glad you'll be getting your oven repaired. And I hope he can do it in one call and not have to return with more parts! You have a good de-contamination plan in place. Could you move your table and chairs away from walkway and cover it with a sheet - then wash the sheet when he leaves? If I remember right, he has to walk right by your table to get in from the deck. We have two campstoves, two BBQ's, a cadre of dutch ovens, plus the stove in the trailer, so we can cook most any way we want to. It's really nice to have a well-stocked back-up house! We even have 7 fat rolls of TP out there if we need them.

IRISH - If you'd used your fabric to pack your dishes, you'd probably be busy washing, ironing, folding fabric! lol! You mentioned a few days ago you made the cabbage noodle thing with, it sounded like, quite a bit of butter. Have you had your gall bladder checked? Sometimes, some high fat foods can give you severe pain. At least that's how it happened with me. Once I had my gall bladder out, no more problems!

ROSEBUD - even with leftovers, it's nice to have choices! :D

LORI - I might look for that orange chicken - or try to devise my own. There is a TJ in Tacoma, 15 miles east and over the Narrows Bridge, and a TJ in Silverdale - 30 miles north, no bridge. We don't go often to either one. Are your embroidery patterns machine or hand?

We never had our grilled chicken and rice pilaf the other night, though we did thaw the chicken. We had cheese and crackers around our campfire after working in the yard and, come suppertime, were still too full for a real meal so only had salad. Then yesterday was Good Friday so we had salad again. So tonite, grilled chicken marinated in adobe chili sauce (thank you, Costco) with the rice and some spinach.

What's bubbling in your pot for tonite?

Good morning!

Mary - yup, that's the plan. I have a ton of old flat sheets that we use for paint drop cloths. After their use, they will go outside in the sunshine for awhile, then in the washer and dryer. We too hope he has the right part and this will be a one shot deal!

I used the fabric idea to wrap my pretties and dishes, as well as bubble wrap when we moved here. Worked beautifully! Nothing broke in the move. When I moved my mom to Utah, many moons ago, I used dishtowels and such. Everything made it intact too. Some of those things moved from California to Utah, then back to California and then back to Utah again! Some of my pretties are place settings of my Grandmother and Great Grandmother's wedding china. My Grandmother was born in 1880, the youngest. Those are some old dishes! And survived earthquakes too!

Dinner - probably a big salad. A new yummy favorite around here is homemade croutons from ciabatta rolls or bread. So they need a salad!

Heading to sew masks and crazy blocks.

Stay safe!

Hugs,
Jana

Hi everyone! Happy Easter to you all!
I've been kind of overdoing it here. Today was the last hopefully, after disinfecting Dad's house and cleaning his kitchen and bathrooms I vacuumed everything for him and then used his carpet scrubber in the living room and bedroom, his house is nice and clean. Dad had to be taken to the hospital today, I was just fixing to take him and my older brother said he'd do it for me so I took him up on the offer. We're not sure what is wrong with Dad but he's been having weird things happen for at least 2 weeks, his latest is a rash or hives all over from head to toes. He's at the hospital in a room and being given benadryl and steroids. The did bloodwork so hopefully they can tell us something tomorrow. Kevin is wondering if it's medication poisoning.
I made Carne asada tacos for supper.
I hope you all have a good Easter tomorrow!
We're just staying home and having whatever I find in my freezer, I'm hoping I have a ham steak in there to have at least a mini Easter meal with just Frankie and me.
Happy Easter!
Tina
