SUPPER CLUB - Tuesday, March 31

Good morning,
I woke up sometime after 0200 and didn't go back to sleep. This will be a long day. I'm not a napper but will probably be nodding off in front of the TV tonight. Our weather has been so cold, wet, and windy that we didn't get out to walk yesterday. We'll see what today holds.
Yesterday I got another 20 masks cut out and prep sewing done on them. That makes 50 I have to work on today. Then I put together the summer porch blocks and that top is finished and added to the growing stack of tops to quilt. Bill finished his two projects in the trailer so maybe he'll do some quilting soon . . . . AFTER he puts the insides of the trailer back together, of course. He had to empty a lot of cabinets to run wires, etc.
My elastic arrived yesterday finally so today will be full on mask construction. I dropped off a big batch at our veterinary hospital last week and they called yesterday to say thank you and how much they appreciated the masks and the dog & cat fabrics I used to make them. The next batch is going to our sheriff's deputies. I'm still using my travel iron. Amazon considers my iron to be low priority and so hasn't even shipped it yet. I ordered it about 8 days ago. If my travel iron dies on me, I'll be having to borrow from a friend, I guess, if they let me. After this is over, I'm picking up an extra one at a thrift shop to have on hand for just such an occasion.
JANA - loved the photos of Ethan! He was a lucky little boy when he joined your family! Nice to have that shopping convenience. I wonder how many will keep it up after this is all over. Safeway will also deliver groceries here. I know you pay a fee for that, but in the long run, it's probably cheaper because then we wouldn't add spontaneous items to the cart. I've thought that about milk delivery, too. . I think of Stu every time I see something about Amazon on the news. Wish he could send me my iron!
MARY ROSE - I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who has these 'issues' with sewing! Usually, at least once a quilt, sometimes a lot more, I make BIIG boo boos. I go through a couple seam rippers a year. They do get dull . . . Will you be going back to work tomorrow or are they going to extend your 'vacation'?
BECCA - I forgot about drive=thru pharmacies, but aren't they nice! Especially now! Back "in the day" my parents' pharmacy, an old Rexall, would deliver my parents' Rx's because one of the pharmacists drove by their house on his way home. You don't get that kind of service very often any more! And yes those mask ties were killing my fingers with burns!
LORI - I used to make yo yo's without the 'maker', but bought one last year and did yo-yo's in the truck while on our trip to Alaska last year. And while sitting around campfires, etc. Something to keep my hands busy. By the end of the trip I had over 600 yo-yo's! So I had to do something with them. I'm not sure what I'll do with this quilt when it's finished, but a lot of my projects are like that - I enjoy the challenge but when they're done - what to do with them all? lol! Sounds like you have lots of choices to keep you busy through April.
IRISH - so glad you and Baby Girl are settling in and loving your new digs! Sometimes, by late afternoon, climbing our stairs gets to be a real chore and I think of you now in your one story house. Color me green!
And good to hear you can cook on the electric stove! I bet, once summer comes and our quarantine is lifted you'll meet a lot of new friends. My SIL and BIL just moved into an adult community like yours and there is a clubhouse with all kinds of activities (which are all suspended for now). And so nice to hear happy eaglet news, too! We all needed that! Did you read about 10 days ago when I was on my morning walk an eagle soared about 30 feet hight, right over our heads and landed in the tree behind us? And that afternoon an owl did the same thing, about 15 feet high, over our car as we drove down our driveway! Probably the same owl that keeps hooting outside our window at night and sets Scott-dog barking.
TINA - hahaha! I'm sorry, but I can't help but laugh. You sound like every other wife I've ever known when her husband retires. Bill tried to tell me I was doing the laundry wrong. I washed it wrong, I dried it wrong, I folded it wrong. My Mr. Right rapidly turned into a Mr. Wrong! He almost turned into a Mr. DEAD Wrong! I offered to let him take it over so it would be done correctly. He declined, saying he just wanted me to do it his way. It took a while, but his wounds healed and we never spoke of it again. I still do the laundry - my way - but he puts his own clothes away. And then he wanted to rearrange my kitchen!! His argument was that it was his kitchen, too. And I said only if he wanted to take over all the meal planning, shopping, cooking, cleaning. Again, he declined. And again he survived. And yet, HIS garage is a total disorganized mess!! I wish you well with your retiree.
Supper tonite? It may be pancakes. Or it may be Subway take-out. Or a Papa Murphy's pizza. Or Mexican. Still working out the details. Our plan is to order out/in? about once a week to help support the restaurants here.
