SUPPER CLUB - Saturday, March 7

Post by purrfect-lady » Sat Mar 07, 2020 6:16 am

Good morning!

JANA - I saw your late post yesterday that Smudge has returned, unscathed, but hungry! JOY!! Even Bill was cheering when I told him. I bet Ethan is over the moon!! Thanks for sharing the news with us!! We lost our Riley for two days once and had given up hope of finding her because she was, after all, about 17 yrs old at the time. Finally I heard a faint meow as I was outside and passing by the trailer. She'd gotten locked in accidentally. Now we keep food, water, and litter in there at all times and it's the first place we look when anyone is missing. (Can't tell you how many times I've found Bill out there, napping!). Glad your co-hort got loose from her homework and you found your fabric! Any more grands plan to make quilts at Grammas?

BECCA - You are sooo busy all the time! And then you go offer to help package bread for your DGD! And come home and clean baseboards and more! Would sure love to have you here! Or maybe not. I'd get exhausted watching you.

CHICKIE - you've been out and about a lot! I enjoy grocery shopping and putting it all away. But a big trip usually takes me hours! Glad your yesterday was a sewing day. You will have that FF top done in a jiffy! You need it for April, right? What are you going to back it with?

TINA - You were rivaling Becca with your cooking, cleaning, yarding! I really need a thread clippings throw away guy, too! But his wages might be a little high for me! lol! I only have white yuck eggs. You reminded me - I want to make cookies today to take camping. Probably choc chip - or maybe peanut butter. Bill just finished up a batch of oatmeal craisin (his personal favorite).

It was tight but I finished my last orphan top yesterday about 4pm. Ta-da!! All my orphans now have homes! Five tops finished! Not one little inch in any of them was cut from yardage, though I did rob my scrap bin a few times.

Today I will be working the to-do list for last day before camping - laundry, vac'g, plants, light timers, pick up mail, cookies, etc. I still need to make my lasagna for the freezer. Bill hitched up the trailer yesterday and found a tail light out - not just a bulb but the entire housing unit. So off he went on a 3-hour tour of all the RV dealers in Tacoma looking for another one. He finally procured the part he needed and came home and fixed it. I SOOO appreciate that my hubby can do almost anything!

I'm sure you've all been following the corona virus outbreak. Most of the cases have been in Seattle area - 50+ miles north of us. But as of yesterday we have a case here in our hospital - 3 miles from our house. The first in our county. At this point that's all I know. We've been told this virus will be like a cold or mild flu for young healthy people. But for the elderly (those over 60), newborns, pregnant moms, or people with underlying health issues, it's like the "flu on steroids" and can be deadly. My take-away was, "Really?? Those over 60 are ELDERLY??" But I guess in this case, we are.

Tonite's supper will be ham, baked sweet potato, and salad. The ham will give us some good leftovers for camping.

How is supper planning coming along at your house?

Good morning! We are going for 65 today, however there are red flag wind warnings. Walking will be tough one direction and (literally) a breeze the other direction. My friend is out of town, so no coffee today. I’m staying home. I plan to work on my firefly blocks today.

Mary—in answer to your question, I found a pretty gray plaid for backing, and I’ll do a bias binding for interest. They don’t know the sex of the baby, so it will be perfect for an “either/or”. If they have a girl… well… you know I’ll be making more feminine creations later. Besides, this baby is at the end of the farm, so there will be lots of opportunities for spoiling, measuring and making! I even have some of DD’s baby patterns that Mom gave me awhile back. I used to make all of her clothes.

I have been seeing all the news about the corona virus—wow! Three miles from you is cutting it super close!!! I don’t feel elderly, but at almost 75 we are considered “high risk”. I’m not sure how that makes me feel.

Jana—so glad Smudge came home! I had a neutered Tom that still thought he should prowl and a couple of times was gone several weeks. He always returned, though sometimes he was worse for the wear after meeting bigger boys than he could handle.

We had delightful Lenten food last night with asparagus on the side and strawberries for after. Reruns will be the menu tonight, although I’ll have to come up with something different for dessert. I’m thinking I might make a big salad with my nuggets.

Hopefully the wind will keep blowing the virus away from Kansas. It’s in all the states around us now. Stay safe and healthy!

Bon appétit!

Good morning!

Getting distracted by watching antique tractors. They are fun to see, but sure not getting anything done!

Cloudy and windy, but still warm. We got to 70 yesterday. Nice to be out without a huge parka!

Not much here today. Working on several projects in the Batt Cave. Need to finish cutting the sky pieces on the March wall hanging. This wall hanging is kites in the air, so many little pieces parts -all patchwork, no applique. I have the applique parts for the April wall hanging traced, ready to go as well.

Mary - happy camping! Be safe out there too. Here in Utah we just got the first case of the virus. They came home from a cruise, same ship that is currently off the coast of SF. Lots of wiping surfaces here! I seem to remember a cruise you and Bill wanted to take - glad it didn't work out!

Chickie - good weather is coming! It has been nicer for longer here, than the storms coming in. There are many pretty grays out there. I did a pink and gray for Gracie's baby quilt.

Need to get going - dinner - something simple, I am not in the mood to cook!

Hugs,
Jana

Hi everyone!
I'm running late again. We had a busy busy day, took Holly and the kids car shopping! I've never been new car shopping, it was kinda fun helping her spend money LOL she bought a 2020 Chevy Traverse, she'll be picking it up on Tuesday. Her teachers credit union is only open week days so all the papers are signed and the dealer will fax to the credit union Monday and she'll go sign there and she can get it Tuesday. She was already approved on the loan, they gave her an amount she could spend and just need the paperwork from the dealer. We got home around 5, I'm so exhausted and my ankles swelled so bad that I couldn't hardly move them.... we drove to El Paso, 32 miles into El Paso actually, so it was like 112 miles each way.
Jana, I'm so glad that Smudge returned safe and sound.
Mary, Dad used to use their motorhome for naps sometimes too LOL too much.
Becca, whew you do so much!
Chickie, your baby quilt is going to be soooooooo loved! ❤
I think we're having whatever we get off our hiney and go find for supper, I'm not cooking! I'll probably have cereal, Frankie is on his own since he doesn't eat cereal...I think he's missing out on a good thing myself 😉
