Good morning,

Hope everyone had a good weekend! We had Sue and Kenn here on Saturday and as always, they are such fun! Yesterday was a stormy day - we even had thunder and lightening! Lots of wind. Trees fell over houses, and across roads and cars. One critical injury when a big fir fell and sliced a house in half. We had no damage here other than now we have to rake again, but we were keeping our eyes open for sure! I worked on my second ding dang orphan quilt top and got it finished. Then I laid out more blocks and units for a third. My living room floor is covered in mis-matched blocks of all sizes! And I still have a stack of unused blocks! This is turning into a much bigger project than I'd anticipated! But a fun one. I have a chiro appt this morning and I'll ride along to Bill's dr appt this afternoon, but I'll sew in between. I've already got a stack of Civil War fabrics pulled in anticipation of Mary Q's Underground RailRoad swap coming up in a few weeks. I'm excited about this one. I love the history behind this quilt, I love the fabrics, I love using QIAD's patterns, and I love supporting our forum and our swap hostesses. Oh, and I love sewing! lol! I think my mom would be proud and I love that, too!

JANA - I wondered if that was the case with your cake pan. I've made angel food cakes from scratch, but not for many, many years. I haven't even made one from a mix for many years! I had two pans, but finally got rid of one of them - it was square and I couldn't get the cake out of it because it STUCK TO THE SIDES. LOL! And yes, about the tree, we know we can cut any branches on our sides. The tree is so big that all the branches are WAAY up there with no way to reach them. So if that tree fell, there are no branches to break it's fall, and it would slice our house in two like a knife. And it leans our way. Actually, I like the tree - it shades our side yard where we congregate in summertime. But it's a dangerous bugger. If it fell, it would go right down the length of our house. With conditions like we had yesterday, we try to stay in the other end of the house where there might not be so much damage if it fell. Happily, that's where the sewing room is! After three registered letters, one from our attorney, plus written reports from two arborists, I can't believe the owner still ignores this tree. The renters tell us he's a landlord from heck. Only they didn't say heck. And on the other side of us we have the lovely Vicki! And such is our life!

TINA - how was the birthday party? I can't believe how old our kids are getting! Is your ear better this morning?

LORI - saw your grandpuppies on FB. What a fun looking crew! I love big dogs and German shepherds are at the top of the list along with goldens, labs, and collies. You've got a good gig going there for your visit! Hope you are getting out to the quilt shops! And nope, no tree to deal with yesterday. But with the ground so saturated, and that tree so rotten (a man can stand inside the rotten trunk) we were concerned and "be'd ware" all day long with the wind.

BECCA - sorry your post went *POOF*. I have a tendency to not pick my fingertips up completely from the keyboard and that happens to me, too, sometimes. It's frustrating!

IRISH - are you home yet??

We are still eating tetrazzini here. Enough left for two small servings tonite so I'll make a big salad to go with. And maybe a French roll each. I have a package in the freezer leftover from some dinner a few weeks ago.

How are your supper prospects looking?

Good morning!
We had fun with Kevin, Maria and Matthew. Matthew is quite the funny little guy, he is so entertaining.
Mary, wow that tree sounds awful. I wish there was something to light a fire under the owner's butt before there is damage or worse!
I have hamburger thawing for supper, I'm thinking spaghetti, we haven't had that in a long time! We'll also have salad.
Tina

Good morning! We are floating away here! It started raining yesterday and rained all night until letting up a few minutes ago. The end of the fishing dock is under water, the boat floated away to the other side of the pond, and water is lapping at the top of the dam and the banks next to the house. We are not worried about flooding as we are above dam level. Still, there is a lot of water out there and more flowing into the pond from pastures and other ponds that are linked together. We are under a flood watch for the rivers and roads. If it’s not raining, I will don my rubber boots and “wade” to walk Choc and Ava. I’m sure it will be less wading and more slogging through the mud road!

When I’m not walking dogs and cooking, I’ll be in my sewing room. Yesterday I completed the three dogs for the little quilt Ava will be giving her mommy for her new little human. Ava announced the arrival to the grandparents by wearing a little shirt that said, “Mommy and Daddy are getting me a new little human.” I hope to finish the top today-if all goes well!

Jana—I like the plain old aluminum angel food cake pans, too. The ones with the removable bottoms are the best! If I don’t have a removable bottom pan, I use a donut shape of parchment or waxed paper in the bottom for easy removal. A thin bread knife makes the sides remove easy.

Mary—we don’t have the thunder and lightning that you have, although the windows were wet on all sides of the house with the variable winds. Hope your tree holds!!! I always said that my daughter would be rich for generations if I got shot at school by some crazy student or parents who got mad. Yes, I did have guns come through from time to time and very upset students about their grades or finances.

I’m in on the UGRR swap! I don’t enjoy making the same block over and over, but I like getting the blocks back. Hopefully I can find some Civil War repro fabrics in my stash. That’s not my favorite fabric genre.

Tina—always good to get with family and food! I’m sure you are having a blast with Matthew every time you get to see him.

Becca—you are having rain, too! Sounds like a nice day quilting! Hope you get lots done, but take it easy, too!

DH came home from geezer coffee, so I fixed brunch. I’m going to pull on my boots and take the hooligans for a walk to walk the dogs, then I’m heading to my sewing room before it rains some more.

Dinner tonight—we had a frozen pizza last night. DH got the pepperoni, and I took pepperoni off my side and put on broccoli, onions, olives and baby bell peppers. We will have the rest of that and salads. No time to cook when I’m marathon sewing!

Bon appétit!

Good morning!

Watching the storm clouds roll in. Still a spot or two of blue sky.

Redid Aaron's taxes and they were still rejected for e-file. As I went over what his FIL did the year before and found the mistake giving us the problem. So prepared the forms to be mailed off today. Still need to do ours. Dreading that!

Dinner - leftovers from last night.

Mary - another orphan done! So what is next on the horizon?

Tina - parties are fun ! Rest up today.

Becca - keeping up on shots is hard. Hang in there!

Not much here, straightening up the main floor, then the Batt Cave.

Enjoy,
Jana
