SUPPER CLUB - Thursday, Feb 20th
Posted: Thu Feb 20, 2020 7:01 am
Good morning,
I slept in this morning! Hooray! Second time this week I've slept past 0500. Dog had to go out about midnight so maybe he slept later this morning and that's why I did, too. I do love early morning, but 0330 was a little TOO early, even for me.
Yesterday we were 56* and sunny. And no breeze. So nice! Though it's freezing at night. I spent the 34* morning sewing but went outside in the afternoon after it warmed up and helped DH wash/clean truck, inside and out. Now all I have to do is fill out our emergency info that we always keep in the glove compartments of both vehicles and we're good to go.
In sewing news, I got my binding and label on my Christmas Country Charmer. Now it's all ready to pack away til next Christmas. lol! Then I laid out my next ding dang orphan quilt which is all 12" blocks so much easier and quicker than the last one, and started sewing it. Today my plan is to get that top done, too, and start laying out the third. If today is as nice as yesterday, I might be outside again this afternoon. Loving the feel of the sun on my back! We have a little Japanese Maple to plant, which means we have to move one of the new little rhodies we just had planted by landscapers last December.
CHICKIE - I love the faith you have in your Hooligans to protect you! And maybe they would. If Scottie saw a perp reaching into his pocket for a gun, he'd sit and be ready for a cookie! lol! That's where I keep my stash of cookies. When you say "go to the store for ribbon roses" do you mean the LQS in Edna? Maybe the floral department at Safeway would have them.
I used to read another author - the one whose books were the basis for the TV show, BONES. Her name escapes me right now. But she also got too intense and descriptive. I gave her up.
JANA - that's a lot of tissue holders! I've got one that Chriss gave me a long time ago and I used it for a pattern to make several to give as gifts. They go quickly, but still - 70 of them takes a lot of time! Are yours mostly different fabrics? We have a few car wash places in G.H. In fact a new one will be opening up later this month. But Bill won't use them. We took our truck through one once and it ripped off the antenna and beat the truck up with it! We had dents, scratches and gouges all over by the time we came out the other end. Plus, Bill is insistant on using a specific soap - Maguires, I believe. So he does it himself. Which is fine by me, if he would do it! He does the truck about 5 times a year and the car once - if I nag him.
BECCA - Bill's mom always carried an extra couple bottles of oxygen in the car just for those forgetful times. Kids reading is the BEST!! When Autumn started first grade, she couldn't read anything but her name, but come December of that year, teacher started a program where if her students read aloud to anyone - and the dog counted as someone - parents would record the title on the special forms she provided the kids. There was room for 25 books on the form. Between Dec and end of the school year Autumn read 361 books out loud. We went to the library twice a week and got armloads of stories. She and I would snuggle up in my bed and she would read 3 or 4 every evening. Later, in college, she went through a rough patch and once again, we snuggled up on my bed and we took turns reading kids' stories to each other. And today she is a co-director of a community library system in Austin, TX and has a huge book collection of her own. So, I say, read, read, READ! Your DGKs are on the right track!
TINA - I bet it felt good to get outside in your yard with your beautiful weather! Oh, a quilt show for you now! Must be quilt show season! And free entry! We had to pay $7 each. I thought that was a bit steep for what they had to offer. I hope you have a super day! No one deserves it more than you!
I'm not coming up with an idea yet for supper. Maybe a white pizza. I have a little chicken in alfredo sauce left over from last night so if I spread it on a pizza crust, add a few veggies, it might be good. Or I might go with pancakes and eggs! We have some turkey sausages in the freezer. I'll let Bill decide but those are his options for tonite.
How are your options looking?
