SUPPER CLUB - Friday, Feb 14th - Valentine's Day!

Good morning!
Happy Valentine's Day to everyone! It's also our 28th wedding anniversary. We usually are out in our trailer someplace, celebrating, but since that's not happening this year, we're having two couples in for supper. A little Valentine party, I guess. When I finish typing this, I'll go put swiss steak into the crockpot. Later I'll make mashed potatoes, put them into a baking dish, top with shredded cheddar, and chives, and have them ready to pop into the oven to reheat later this evening. I got some crusty French rolls to heat and others are bringing a broccoli dish, dessert, and appetizers. We always have a good time! And for Bill's gift I'm going to make him some oatmeal Craisin cookies today, his favorite.
Our appointment yesterday with the financial person and the trust attorney turned out better than I thought - I didn't fall asleep! We got good advice plus the attorney turned out to be an elder law attorney and we liked him a lot. When he gave us his card at the end of our meeting, we realized he was the same guy who did the same thing for Bill's mom 12 years ago! He's going to set up trusts for us, plus do our wills, health care directives, etc. So we're well on our way to line up all our ducks. Relief. And he charges a lot less than we were expecting to pay.
JANA - sorry I forgot to wish you a happy birthday yesterday. I didn't forget your birthday, I just forgot to MENTION your birthday. I had so many good intentions! I hope it was a fab day with all your fab people.
CAROL - I wish I could go to your guild quilt show. How big will it be? Do you just display quilts or will there be vendors? There is a quilt show going on this weekend in Kitsap County just to the north of us. I'm thinking we might go tomorrow. It's 30 miles, but a pretty drive.
LORI - hope you're having fun cleaning out those cupboards!
BECCA - I'm glad the NP that came to your house is a better fit for you. Will she always be the one now or is it just "whoever"? I wonder if you can make requests . .
TINA - lots of logistics to consider when you are cooking for dad! How is he doing? Is your snow gone now?
JANA - again - your cabinet sounds purrfect for displaying quilts! Too big for my house, though. I've looked at a few at Costco but none are right for our house. I think, after our new furniture is delivered and we finish paying for that, we'll go back to the same place and see what they have. I keep looking around the house, trying to envision what changes I could make to fit in another piece of furniture. We already have a beautiful rosewood secretary type desk out in our shop under a sheet that we can't fit in and can't find a home for. . .
Well, you already know our menu for here. What's your menu for there? Enjoy your Valentine's and thank you all for the anniversary wishes for Billious and me. We think this just might work out!
