SUPPER CLUB - Friday, Dec 13th

Good morning,

Friday the Thirteenth - let the good luck surround us! lol! I started the day by snarfling a big beautiful black cat. For luck. :D Yesterday I made 5 dozen snowball cookies to package up for my son and 2 grandsons for whenever I see them next. And Bill got his share, too. I also got 2 blocks from FGV II finished (rooster & cat blocks) and started the pumpkin block. I am making them all 6-1/2". I'll finish the pumpkin block (my last one) this morning. It's slow going to make a 6" block that has 51 pieces! Then I'll make some chocolate peanut butter cupcakes to take to a luncheon tomorrow. When they are done I'll start putting together the Nov lotto blocks that I received from my SS, Valerie. I've only had those blocks 5 days. How long have I got until they earn the moniker "UFO"? They are still sitting on my work table at the moment. They haven't even made it into the UFO box yet (which is EMPTY right now!).

The landscape crew arrives this morning to start work. They will remove a large rotten stump in the back yard and help Bill level the RV site. Then they are going to revamp the front - removing about a foot of old dirt, relocate the 3 rhodies and a small dogwood to the back yard, bring in new dirt, rebuild the low brick wall, and then put in new plants. It will be so nice to get rid of of old invasive species that are trying to take over everything! It's getting too hard to fight them every year. They say they can do all of this in two days. So you can see, my weekend is going to be full!

JANA - the photos (over in the PHOTO section) of your doll and her wardrobe are charming! Karlie will love it! and no, I think the landscaping project will go on. Today should only be a few intermittant showers. The dirt will be easier to dig for the good soaking it had yesterday. and yes, this line of storms will head your way. You're welcome. Right now our mountains are getting anywhere from 1-4 FEET of snow. Snoqualmie Pass was shut down westbound yesterday for snow. It might still be closed.

TINA - I sure hope you don't catch whatever the kids and Holly have. There is a school in Seattle that they shut down yesterday because of Norvirus. The entire school is being disinfected today. I thought immediately of your family. Sounds like your SIL is a major waste of skin. I'm sorry Holly can't seem to see the light. Must be SOOO frustrating for you and Frankie to witness.

BECCA - Time was, it wasn't Christmas if I didn't make at least 12 different cookies and candies and then Christmas braid coffee cakes on top of that. But no more. I might make one more batch of ordinary cookies just because Bill loves to have them to snack on. But I don't keep the cookie jar stocked all the time. He can go through 3 dozen cookies in 3 days! So I only bake occasionally.

CHICKIE - sorry about the 7#. I didn't mean to drop them off on you! Sounds like your life is still full to the brim, but settling down a bit with more normal stuff. I bet your Hooligans have missed you! What did you sew yesterday?

IRISH - I think you did tell us once that your Kathy's ex was "Tim" and Tim's ex was "Kathy". What are those odds? I guess though it wipes out the risk of those embarrassing slips. Bill and I made a deal when we got married that if he called me Nancy or I called him Mike or Roy that it meant nothing and we would just laugh it off. But it was kind of bad when Mike and I had been married 10 years and I was introducing him to someone once and totally blanked on his name! He had to prompt me!! That house sounds like a good thing if you are interested. Stairs can be good exercise if you can do them. But I swear, my next house won't have any!! Those cross-stitch projects you are finishing for Cindy's family will be treasures. Can't believe you are getting them done so quickly! I've broken a tooth 3 times in my life - all on soft foods! My dentist says as you chew, soft foods form a suction around your tooth and if there is a serious crack, it will pull the tooth apart. Hope it's not too big a deal to fix. I HATE dental work! But then, I guess everyone does.

I haven't given supper much thought, but I think it will be baked chicken with sweet potatoes and asparagus. I can pop everything into the oven and relax!

How about you?

Good morning!
Holly has the bug now, she went home sick yesterday.
I have a free day today and as soon as I found that out about 50 things popped into my head to do LOL
First thing though is I have a hair appointment, I badly need a trim.
After that I think I'll see if Dad is home and go set up his printer and laptop.
I need a couple things from Walmart, my least favorite place to go. I can tell you my morning will be over quick. I already wiped the house down with bleach and started laundry. I even put bleach in my dishwater this morning and everything in the kitchen got wiped down. If we get it, it won't be a lack on my part. I've been wiping down the house for weeks now with just our colds. I ran out of lysol this morning so I'm getting more LOL I'm on a germ killing mission!
Supper, supper, supper what's for supper.......I have to think on that one.

Good morning!

Start off, with absolutely no idea for dinner.

Sarah had to go out to find Ethan a new pair of snowboots. He came home after school and his feet were cold and wet. We thought, like all little boys, he played in the puddles. He said no and the outside of his boots were dry. Then, we checked the soles, sure enough, a hole had worn through that was getting his feet wet. These were new boots! Seems, Emma had a pair do the same thing. So while she was out, found me the lacy socks for the dollies.

Mary - I wonder if your snowball cookies are like my Russian Teacakes - a butter cookie with nuts, rolled in powder sugar. They are on my to bake list.

Tina - you go with the lysol! I am constantly wiping with disinfecting wipes. I so don't want anything my lovelys want to share.

Becca - I wondered as I made the dolls, if you had the same pattern. She is such a nice doll. I only made the one for Sarah when she was little. I did find I had lost one piece, the collar, but drafted a new one I can use. Worked out fine.

Well, time to get down to the Batt Cave and make a dress and a pair of shoes.

Enjoy,
Jana

Hi Ladies....
Sounds like you are all making progress....is everyone on track to be ready? We went to the Christmas program at the high school last night....JR was saying that it was hard to believe that we only have to go to two more. I did tell him that we could still go, just won't have any grands in them anymore....He just gave me the look....Ha....he does enjoy them, though.
Sorry to hear about your trip cancellation, Mary...I know how hard it is to get these guys organized for anything so I understand that too....
Jana, your dollies and the clothes are simply adorable...I miss my grands not asking for a doll of some sort for Christmas....One year I even found the heavy duty dolly buggies to go with them....they used them for several years, even for the puppy that they got one year!
I think you all can keep your snow/sleet etc.....I think we are supposed to get something on Sunday....hate the roads being slick...
Tina, hope your group starts feeling better soon...I, too, do the Lysol thing most of the winter.
I still have plenty to do today, so I guess I better get started, actually, I have started, but I think I need to kick it up a notch! Feeling lazy today. I did put a ham bone in the crockpot, with some beans, so I need to peel potatoes for fried with it, and some cornbread. I have hot dogs for those that don't like the beans....if I don't find my gift card by tomorrow, I will have to stop and buy another on my way to the post office...I guess it isn't all bad, when I find it, I can still use it for something....I can almost see me saying I will remember this when I need it, just can't quite see where I was standing when I said it.....Drat

I'm back..... my day ended up not being free..... the school couldn't get a sub for Holly so she had to go to work. She did stay home in the morning at least. Tomorrow she has a mandatory workshop so I'll have all 3 kids then too. So my plans changed a little.
