SUPPER CLUB Thursday November 21

Post by gershwin64 » Thu Nov 21, 2019 6:38 am

Good morning!
Mary 's computer is doing an update so she's not sure if she'll be able to get back on here today.
I'm going to the Dr. later.
Dad wil be here for supper but so far I don't know what I'm fixing because I don't know when I'll be back.
What are you all fixing? Maybe that'll help me have ideas 😊

Good morning! I have a few minutes to check in. Know it’s been forever, or at least it seems so to me. I haven’t been on my computer in ages except to pay a bill now and then. I’m on the road a lot to Mom’s, and yesterday the Hooligans and I went to Pittsburg and took DGD’s birthday cookie. I picked up my DD for her lunch hour, and we spent it dropping the cookie and a trunk DH had restored off at her house. We made a quick stop at Salvation Army, but it was a bust. All too soon it was time to take her back to work—no lunch for either of us. I hit the road again for home. The Hooligans were good boys and were happy to get a treat when I stopped and returned to my truck.

I’m trying to get some sewing time although it’s much less time than I need. I’m almost finished with a large wall hanging top for my SIL made from her fabric scraps. I’m hoping to get it quilted before Christmas, but she may receive a UFO and a promise.

Yes, the big trip has been cancelled for now. Mom has been declining and getting MUCH weaker. It’s so difficult to watch the process of shutting down. I’m going in for bath today, but we are probably going to do bed bath. She spends more time in bed and less time sitting in her chair.

When I return from Mom’s, I’ll be accompanying DH to his nephrologist’s appointment. He is being referred by the urologist for his kidney function. Always a fun time getting older and patching up the old body for a few more miles.

Tina—best wishes at the doctor’s appointment! Hope you get some good answers!

Becca—glad the benefit was a success! I’m sure everyone in the community came out to support your wonderful family! Know it warms your heart.

Mary—those updates can go on and on! Seems like mine updates way more than I think it should.

Irish and Carole—know you are out there… a big hello to you both!

Now, my minutes of chatting are over. I need to fix brunch. Dinner tonight… I think DH will have some ribs, potato and asparagus. I have some soup made for me. We certainly won’t be starving.

Bon appétit!

Good morning!

The bunny war is won and I am much much better. I have laundry going.

Dinner - chicken something - maybe parmesan with a marinara sauce and a wedge salad.

Seems as if everyone is starting some Christmas decorating. I am being good and will wait until the day after Thanksgiving. I am starting in the front room with the Dickens Village, my red and white tree. The outside lights are ready. One area at a time. I have enough to decorate my house and all of yours too!

Tina - thanks for starting and letting us know where Mary is.

Chickie - so hard to watch the closing chapter of such a long life. You are always in my prayers.

Becca - that is one thing you never forget how to cook - a turkey! We have now found that a trip to the grocery store will be a couple times per week. Fresh seems to go bad if I do it for longer.

Time to go,

Enjoy,
Jana

I'm done at the dr's office. He guessed maybe a had heat exhaustion or maybe heat stroke and it triggered a bad migraine. Maybe. He can't say for sure since I have no symptoms and nothing showed up on those tests they did. I told his nurse and him too that I was just coming by to say hi! LOL

Here I am! Whew! those computer updates are a real pain. I didn't plan it to be update day but the battery in my 'puter died years ago so it has to stay plugged in. I accidentally dislodged the cord when I set my computer down this morning after my sew-in post to go get another cup of coffee before starting the Supper Club. When I restarted it, it automatically went into update mode. Grrr!! Someday Santa might bring me a new computer, but for now, I'll just try to stay close to the outlet!

TINA - thanks for getting us started! Good to hear Dad is some improved. I'm anxious to hear what your dr says.

CHICKIE - you are really chasing your tail these days! I'm glad you and the Hooligans got in a road trip, complete with treats! Your visits with your DD are way too short! Hope Doyle's appt has good results.

JANA - good to hear you beat the bunnies back! I'm not really decorating. I just got out my dishes - which are winter themed, not Christmas, and my quilts and table runners. Since we're having a dinner party tonite and I didn't have any TG decorations out - mostly because I really don't have any - I wanted the place to look pretty. But this weekend, I will delve into the more serious decorations! lol! Please thank Sarah for me for all the tips. I forgot I have a BALL cookbook! So I'm going to start experiementing with sauce recipes soon!

BECCA - How nice that Denise and Mark are coming for TG! Anyone coming with them? I bet you don't forget how to cook a turkey! I haven't cooked a whole turkey in years either. Since everyone in our family prefers white meat, and Bill hates turkey soup, I only buy a breast and usually cook it in the crockpot, laying on top of some thick onion slices and a few celery ribs. I rub it with garlic and seasonings and walk away for 8 hours. That leaves my oven free for whatever else I'm cooking.

IRISH - what a cooincidence that both Kevin and Kathy are retiring on the exact same day! Did they plan it or did it just happen? Sounds like it's time for a party!

Speaking of parties, we have two couples coming for supper to celebrate two birthdays. Tex & Annette and Gus & Claudia. Annette and Gus's birthdays are Nov 17 & 25. And last night it occurred to me that Bill & Claudia's birthdays are July 20 & 21 and Tex and my birthdays are Mar 16 & 23. Good reason to have 3 well-spaced parties! anyway, tonite's feast will be baked ziti, salad, and garlic bread. I have a tiramisu for dessert courtesy of the good folks at Costco.
