SUPPER CLUB - Friday, Sept 20
Good morning,
TINA - this is your test day. You know we're all going along with you in spirit!
ROSEBUD - I know you planned to go out last night, but usually you don't, and I have to say I really admire how you make yourself a real dinner most nights. If I lived alone I would probably be eating PB&J's or Cherrios every night. I hope today is an easier day for you.
IRISH - you are soon up and away and off to The Biggest Little Town in Nevada!
BECCA - praying so hard for your little ones. The course of preemies - one crisis after another!
I talked to Chickie yesterday. She was at her mom's for bath day. Then she stayed with mom while sister went out to lunch. She says mom is getting weaker and now uses a wheelchair to go to and from the bathroom. Chickie feels it's from not using her muscles like she used to. Mom will be 101 yrs old in November.
Our two grandsons came for supper last night. It was fun to catch up on girlfriends (none), homes, jobs, and more. We had shell macaroni and cheese, peas, salad, ice cream and brownies that Alec brought. (the baker). We sent a container home with each of them, plus we have enough for us for two more nights.
About Ernie - Hospice told us that many patients, when they feel a more relaxed environment, relax themselves and finally let go. Ernie let go last night. We got the call about 9pm, right after the boys left. We just can't be sad that he's gone since we had no hope he would ever recover. It sounds so cliche, but he's out of pain now and with his beloved Sherrie. And he was talking to his mom the day before, too. We suspected he was seeing her, real or hallucinated. We thought we had about two weeks to get things organized, but that wasn't God's plan. So we're all trying not to feel guilty while we breathe a sign of relief for Ernie.
Thank you all for being my outlet as I vented over the stress of this Ernie Journey. Where would I be without you all - my besties!?

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Friday, Sept 20
Good morning! I’ve missed you all! No excuses; I just get sidetracked and busy. I really appreciate Mary keeping you updated on my goings on.
We had the hunters back this week. They don’t stay with us, but they are in and out and hunt back on our property. They talked me into fixing brunch for them on Wednesday. They love my Dutch baby pancakes with sausage and apples. It’s hard to say no when they come and fill my freezer with “cat food”—special gifts from the sea of snapper, lobster and shrimp. Two of the guys brought me pants to mend again. Too funny!
Yes, Mom is just kinda wasting away. I know she wishes she could do more, but she also doesn’t try to do more like helping her arms with some half-pound or one-pound weights. She does no leg lifts while sitting in her chair, and she spends a lot of time in bed which does nothing for muscle mass. It’s difficult to see. She has a bedside commode in her room, and we assist her to it. We just go to the bathroom for sit-down shower time. Scary to think, but in 26 years I’ll be her age!!! YIKES!!!
The baby quilt is finished, and I’m so excited! The shower invitations came out with farm animals, and her registry includes lots of cows! My little quilt will be perfect, I think. I made one bib with a 6” cow block to match the quilt’s 12-inch blocks. Then I made another bib and two slobber bandanas using all the scraps. I did two burp cloths using matching scraps, and I found a piece of apple green flannel in my stash and made a receiving blanket to go with it all. I guess I should take more pictures before I wrap it up tight.
Mary—It’s difficult to be sad for Uncle Earnie’s passing when you know he’s out of pain and no chance to recover from his condition. A swift passing is always best. Sounds like a fun evening with your grandsons!!!
Rosebud—when I was single, I liked to try all the foods my late DH who was beyond picky when it came to eating wouldn’t try. I also like to make a big pot of soup and eat on it through the week after work.
Becca—Hugs! It’s like Mary said, with preemies it’s one thing after another! Hopefully they will soon be thriving on their own! Thanks for the update—sounds like good news!!! Add some fried apples to those pork chops!
Tina—hoping you get some answers, if not today then SOON! We want you at your optimum!!! I know you want to feel GOOD, too!
Irish—have fun getting that baby love!!! The garbage story gave me a laugh! Sounds so much like me!!! When I lived in Missouri, it came at 5:30 a.m. Hated to put it out at night, as there were raccoons on the prowl.
Jana—sounds like you got a bunch of new patterns—let the fun begin!!! I ordered my Farm Girl Vintage 2 this week. So excited to get it!
I have to take Tinker Bell to the vet later this afternoon. Hope it’s not serious—she’s passing some blood… quite a bit.
And, it’s raining here. We haven’t had any rain in weeks, but it’s going to be in the 70s today, so no complaining! Last evening when we walked to Choc’s just before dark, it was 85 with a 94 heat index! We will be back in the 80s next week, but at least it’s not the 90s!
I’m going to work on cleaning up my sewing room and then decide on a new project. There are bunches in the works! I just have to decide which is most pressing. Meanwhile, I need to organize the leftover scraps from this project.
Dinner tonight… I think we will dine on re-runs. There is steak for DH, chicken for me, veggies and salad as well as cottage cheese.
Bon appétit!

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Friday, Sept 20
Good afternoon from sunny, warm, gorgeous SW. Pa....another purrfect day....
Mary, my heart goes out to you and Bill...I had a feeling I was going to hear about his leaving...AND there is no way to feel guilty about his passing, you went above and beyond...Right now, your heart is heavy but Uncle Ernie was so very blessed to have had you and Bill....
AND to have 2 young men for dinner, how good is that....Isn't it neat to just listen to them talk...Some of my happiest times were when the kids would just sit and talk..Of course there were times when I might have heard things I didn't want to hear, lol...Our Kevin was the ornery one and he'd make sure I knew everything...When he's leave to go out, he'd always remind me to make sure the scanner was on...Now, here he is a Grandpap! Hopefully he tells and teaches Emma Rose the good stuff he had done, lol....
Becca, I can imagine the roller coaster you've been on....Just keep all these up and down memories for when the twins are older and then remind them why Gram has grey hair...But, so glad to hear there was no surgery...
Thinking about Chickie and her Mom...It's very tiring but so glad Chickie is able to spend so much time with her Mom....
Tina, also thinking about you...You need some good news and praying for lots.....
Yesterday was a fun, fun day....Bingo with my sister and because I wore my lucky "kitty" socks, I came out a winner..Then we went to dinner at Texas Roadhouse, started talking with 2 of the nicest ladies in the next booth and had just a great time...Then I went to Kevin's and got my baby fix (for 3 hours)...Don't tell the rest of the kids but I didn't get home until way after dark!
But, the biggest news, our Nick got his assignment and he'll be going to England...I'm still trying to come to grips with the whole thing, my little Nick, going so far away...BUT, my little Nick is now a man, a very independent man and I'm sure will make the best of anything and everything they have to offer...He had wanted to go to Germany so he'll get his chance, one way or another...
Today is making sure the house is in order, cancel the newspaper, things like that...OH, I guess I do have to pack, but not much...Need to leave lots of room in the suitcase just in case I visit a shop or 2.....
As for dinner, I have some running to do this afternoon so I'll let it up to Ruby....
You all try to behave while I'm gone but please try not to use the bail money fund....I might need some of it....
Happy eating....................

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Friday, Sept 20
Good afternoon!
A big black thunderstorm is moving in fast on us. Michael just left to go get Ethan and drive him home. The lightning strikes are quite close and even though it is only two blocks, Ethan has been taught not to be out in a lightning storm. We have many people here struck quite often.
I have most of my uglies done. I am going to wash some windows in a few minutes, only the insides. Then head down to sew.
Mary - Uncle Ernie wasn't hallucinating. His mom was there to take him home, the next step, we don't go alone. What a joyous reunion there was waiting for him.
Tina - many prayers for a good and know what you have report.
Irish - I assume you are heading to Reno - wave as you fly over the Great Salt Lake - I am in the mountains south of the lake - I'll put a big sign on the roof!
Mary Rose - enjoy the weekend!
Becca - such great news on Brodee. Soon he will be back with Hadlee. I am sure she misses her brother.
Chickie - I would love a freezer stocked with cat food! Those are favorite meals here. Sounds like the cows on the quilt are just right.
Dinner - since the kitchen is clean, it is out for dinner! I like a clean kitchen and want it to stay that way , at least for a short time!
Enjoy,
Jana

OOPS, I came home after work today and fell asleep on the couch before having a chance to come visit. My daughter called and the phone woke me, so I got up and fixed some salad for supper.
Mary you continue to be in my prayers. It is good that God has taken Uncle Ernie home and out of pain. Hugs my friend.
Becca happy to hear Brodee didn't have to have the surgery and that the blood clots are gone. Continued prayers for the babies and the rest of your family as well.
Jana you have a good weekend as well.
Well, even though I had a nap, I need to get to bed since I have to work tomorrow. Everyone have a blessed evening.
