SUPPER CLUB - Sept 16th

Post by purrfect-lady » Mon Sep 16, 2019 5:03 am

Good morning,

Poor Irish. She is home, crying in her Terrible Towel. Her team lost yesterday, and just by two points. :( But my team won by two points, so all is well - in Seattle! Sorry, dear Irish. But it was a good game, wasn't it - lots of action, lots of points! And you found a new up and coming young fella to watch!

This morning, after my walk, we're off to tour two adult care homes within 2 miles of our house for Ernie. A 3rd one is in Port Orchard, 20 miles north, but if these two look good, we won't even check out the third one. Hopefully we can get him moved tomorrow, wednesday at the latest. After the game yesterday we went and bought him some clothes.

We also stopped at Michael's and picked up a few items to use in making his fidget quilt. I have it almost half finished. I'm having great fun and this might be a good thing for him to keep his hands occupied. They are moving all the time and now there's nothing but his hospital gown to play with so it often goes on the floor! So this afternoon, I hope to get this finished. I started with a charm pack and am putting something to fidget with on each square - 5x4 squares, I think. My favorite block is square alphabet beads strung on a cord across the square. The beads spell his name.

JANA - that is one huge sod company! Is Sara happy with the change? Every year I tear out my day lillies because I get so few blooms. and every year even more come back! They are kind of like The Blob from that old Sci Fi movie. The bed just keeps growing and growing!

TINA - so happy you got rain! and supper! and chilies! Did you buy them already roasted this year? Not roast them yourself? How many packages did you get?

MARY ROSE - I hope you found some supper last night! We ended up having a big lunch so we just grilled cheese sandwiches. I ate a cucumber with mine and Bill had chips and dip.

Tonite will probably by the pasta we never had last night. And salad. I still have the sauce sitting on the counter, ready and waiting for us. And no, it's not homemade, but when I'm done with it, it will taste like it! :)

What's your supper story going to be?

Good morning!

Mary - yes, Sarah is very happy about the changes with the sod. The owners of the sod farm already love how she does things. When a previous manager was embezzling quite a large sum of money, Sarah found new computer tracking software which removed chances of that happening again. With the embezzlement, the company lost more than 350,000 dollars and a ton of goodwill of customers. She will continue doing the bookkeeping and her current boss, selling the company he owns here, will work for the big company handling commercial orders. Good scouting trip today for Uncle Ernie.

Today we are meeting our attorhey to set up the trust and all that entails. I have been dragging , kicking and screaming on this - I am not old enough to need that! But alas, I looked in the mirror and saw this old lady staring me back, I guess I am that old! Our attorney is a friend of ours and served with Matt, when Matt was a Bishop.

Dinner - never did the stuffed pasta from yesterday, so will do that tonight.

Ethan will be here after school and he can sew a bit. Sarah needs to get a piece of black to make the backing big enough and then we will put it in the LA. Hopefully it will be done before the Disneyland trip.

Time to get going, appointment is early this morning,

Enjoy,
Jana

Good morning!
Mary, we almost always have them roasted but Frankie said he might start doing it so we don't have to put it all up in just hours....it ended up being too hard on me yesterday and I got to feeling really bad so I sat down with a pot of water for the 2nd half instead of standing at the sink. Frankie kept me with clean water for my cleaning stage. We ended up with about 200 chillies that are all clean and ready and about 180 that will need to be cleaned as they get used. I just couldn't do anymore and Kevin said to just bag them with the stems and skins still on and lay them flat like we do with the cleaned ones, he said they're easier to clean when they're half frozen. So that's what we did, I told Frankie if I don't like cleaning them each time then Kevin is getting those bags ☺ our total number of bags is 31 gallon sized bags and I think 13 quart sized bags because we ran out of the gallon size ones. Our bag of chili this year was way more than we usually get because every year I get 24-26 gallon freezer bags full which is about 240 chillies, that's what Holly got yesterday too, so we don't know what happened with ours. I went to bed by 9 last night because I felt so bad, I usually go to bed between 11-11:30.
Did you watch the Broncos game?! I'm no expert on football but even through the replay I didn't see that guy call timeout in time to give them that 1 second that had the other team being able to kick a field goal and win. That was just crazy!
I'm wondering if I could make a fidget quilt for aunt Jody? She's not all gone upstairs and is very upset to be in the facility. She almost made me cry Saturday, she said "what a boring place, you get old and nobody wants you and they just throw you away, nobody wants to be around me because I'm old, why am I here, why can't I be home" it just tore me up inside and made my heart hurt. She doesn't knit or crochet, her room is very sparse....a twin bed, 3 chairs, a dresser and chest and a tv and radio that she never turns on. I'm just not sure what we can do to help, I'm open to suggestions from you all. I know she gets a little confused at times but she's still there and can carry on conversations and shares memories.
Jana, I hope your appointment goes well.
We are so flooded today! We had a downpour for hours last night! My chickens will be let out later, hopefully the water will soak up so I can get out there. We sure needed the rain though and I'm thankful for it!
I didn't get my chili rellenos made last night so that's tonight's supper plus Spanish rice and maybe salad so we have veggies.

Becca, prayers for Brodee that he gets the right antibiotics and gets well quickly. Prayers for them both to gain weight and be healthy and for them to pass their eye exams with flying colors.
We got mild chili this time but my fingers could still feel it. I don;t wear gloves, food gloves are hard to find here and I can never remember to order any so we have them.

Supper has changed to Green Chili stew.

Becca it is good that Brodee will get off the ventilator, but sad the infection hasn't cleared up. Prayers that the new antibiotic will take care of this. Also, prayers that both will begin gaining weight.

Tina green chili stew sounds so good. Too bad I'm not closer. I'd stop by and make some tortillas to go with it. Has the insurance given you the go ahead for the test to be done?

Jana hope all goes well with setting up the trust.

Mary I did find something to eat last night. I just fixed a salad. Glad your team won, but sad Irish's team had to lose. I'm sure the fidget blanket/quilt is going to be a great comfort for Uncle Ernie. You are the best!

I got out early today and got all the bills paid that I can't pay on line. Came home and started on the laundry and sorting through the junk mail and papers that need to get filed. Supper tonight will be an easy breakfast meal.
