Good morning,
The bedroom carpet is in, the bed is set up, and we had a good night's sleep. The carpet is sort of a light tweed. Bill brought in the storage cabinet for the bathroom and I have the drawers all cleaned, purged and put back in. Now for the vanity and sink . . Then the dressers. Today workmen are coming to do our entryway floor and the hearth. Then we can bring in the rest of the furniture. We're on the home stretch!
Bill is going back to Seattle this afternoon. His sister is going along and they will meet their cousin at the hospital and hopefully the Social worker will be available. A rehab place still hasn't been found for Ernie. Plus, at this point he's not fit even for assisted living let along going back to his house to live. Very sad - he's such a sweet man.
I've had small bits of time here and there to play in my sewing room. I'm trying to design a block for a friend who really deserves a quilt made just for her. It's going - but not quickly.
JANA - how goes the wallhanging? These are skinnies you are working on, right? How is Ethan doing on his quilt?
TINA - thanks for explaining the duck races. What an interesting beginning they had! Nice to have that pond detail taken care of. I bet it's really pretty now - an oasis for you. I know my sister and I enjoyed sitting next to it last winter, visiting with you.
BECCA - I feel about blackberries the way you felt about the grapes. Just to busy right now and something has to give. It was the berries for me. Looking forward to the next Twin Report.
IRISH - How's life in the fast lane? Seems you never slow down - always running to or with someone! Have you made up your mind yet about going to visit Kathy? How is Tim doing? He had some serious health issues not long ago.
CHICKIE - I hope the Kansas winds haven't blown you to Missouri!
I cooked wild rice last night to put with the leftover meatballs and creamy sauce. Now I have leftover rice! It never ends! So I think I'll make some chicken rice soup. I can already taste it!
What sounds tasty for you tonite?

Good morning!
Mary - Yea! One more thing done! Hope they find a place for Uncle Ernie, it is so hard to do that. Road cinstruction is a never ending occurance! How else do you think UDOT or Washington's department of Transportation keep their jobs! The troopers here refer to the orange cones/barrels as Utah's State Tree! LOL! There are more of the orange barrels than people here in Utah!
Speaking of UDOT .... the accident investigation team from SLC city police finished their report on Aaron's accident. They cited the trucker driver with 28 major violations on the truck and trailer, including, but not all, driving with no CDL, brake tampering, load not secured properly, and neglecting the required vehicle inspections. Oh yes, not registering the vehicle after purchase. UHP went out on Saturday to serve warrants, but the driver had disappeared. But then on Sunday, Aaron's boss was dressed in his suit, going go church and saw across the street a excavator that looked familar. Yep, it was the one in Aaron's accident and the driver of the truck was operating it. So, the boss took his bodycam and went over to talk with the guy and recorded the whole conversation. Turned that over to the investigators as well. So they know right where the guy is working! Aaron has retained an attorney to sue as well. Since so far, we have no medical bills to pay, we are calling any settlement, Gracie's Disneyland money. Gracie wants to go to Disneyland really badly. We shall see what comes of all of this.
Oh, my wall hangings are from a place called Pie Plate quilting. I bought them a few years back. They are each about 36 x 36 and celebrate something for each month of the year. Plus there is a 13th for birthdays. They are not my skinnies and if you want, I can share the patterns. I did the whole set for Crenda as a BD present before we moved here and that is almost 8 years ago. Finally decided to do a set for me. Still have skinnies to make as well.
Dinner - using up freezer food, so I am not sure what will fall out today. We win't be hungry!
Need to get some uglies finished up that got sidetracked when I burnt my side of the wrist. It is much better today.
Enjoy!
Jana

Good morning! I’m still here. We have had some rain, but no bad windstorms. And, we’ve been on the edges of the rain, so haven’t been deluged—just enough to keep the weeds growing … well, like weeds! It’s been hot and sticky with humidity in the stratosphere. Yesterday was 90 with 100 degree index. I think I’ll be good and ready for fall. The guys got all our hay put up between rains. It was a super good year for hay.
My sister put mom on hospice yesterday. It wasn’t unexpected. We will get a nurse to come in and check on her, and they will probably bring in a hospital bed to make things easier for us to care for her as she spends more and more time in bed.
Yesterday was DH’s birthday. I made him fried apples, pork chops and grits for dinner. He was delighted, even without a birthday cake. His sister came and spent the day Sunday. She brought pizza, so all I had to do was make a salad mainly for me.
I’m trying to work on the baby quilt of cows, but it’s slow going with all the interruptions. Today is, as usual, dog walking. Maybe I’ll get to sew as well… unless I go in to my sister’s. I’m embroidering the eyes, noses and tails on my little herd—not quite half finished with that. Then I’ll get it sashed and put together.
I need to go back and read all the posts I’ve missed. Have to check on the twins, Irish’s sister and family, etc.
Mary—sounds like you are almost finished with the remodeling/refurbishing! When do you start the next major overhaul?
Tina—I hope you are feeling better! I love your oasis!
Jana—The plot thickens with the truck driver… hope they nab him soon! Sounds like they are getting ready to throw the book at him! Hope Gracie gets her Disneyland fund!
Becca—OH, such great report on the twins!!! Sounds like you are cooking and eating well! DH would love CA’s sweets, too! I made grape jelly one year; and it was work. I’d still love to have grapes! Where I got the batch before is gone. Your little grand will be sporting a bright cast! They are so different than they used to be. Hope she heals perfectly and quickly!
I had to stop and make brunch. Now I’m off with the hooligans to walk Ava. DS is off today, so no Choc walking.
Dinner tonight… we have lots of leftovers. We won’t go hungry. I’ll probably have a big salad.
Bon appétit!

Good afternoon from a dreary, little damp, SW. Pa...We did have some rain but now it's just dreary....But, hate to say it, but we do need a little rain, I guess.....
Oh Mary, almost back to normal living..You won't know how to act with everything under 1 roof again...I get so excited when I just have little things done but to have as much as you've had, I probably couldn't handle it, lol....I think this is why I'm hesitant in looking for another house...Maybe I'll just let the kids decide and then let them move me...Of course, years ago, when we'd visit my Mom in the nursing home, the kids would say, OK Mom, pick out a room, lol....
Mary, that daughter of mine has been sailing up and down the rivers in Europe the last couple of weeks but they are due back in SF later today, I think....She really has sent me some gorgeous pictures and I know it's been a wonderful trip for the 2 of them...This weekend she and Tim are headed for San Jose for the Celtic festival AND she had matching kilts made for them...Then she'll be coming this way the end of Sept. for "Lena Beans" birthday...BUT, she's making me fly out on the 21st of Sept. and then flying back with her on the 28th...Tim isn't coming so I'll use his companion pass..She'll probably be working the week I'm there but Tim knows the way to the quilt shop and he also likes to go to Hobby Lobby so I'm sure we'll be fine without her....And he is doing very well since his heart scare last year...She has to keep after him about the meds but he's doing well, MEN....
Jana, boy what a story...For sure that saga just goes on and on..But, they need to get that guy off the roads...And hopefully, that Disneyland trip will be coming, love it!
Chickie, Glad to hear you'll be having Hospice help with your Mom...I think of them of angels, they certainly are special...I think too many people get the wrong idea about Hospice but when you see what and who they are, it's wonderful....Oh well, you know.....
Becca, so happy to hear the good news... Those miracles are just that, miracles, aren't they? And it sounds like you're eating good at your house...But, then everything you post sounds so good....
My buddy Scout went home yesterday...As soon as Terry walked in that was it for me..He looked like those dogs who had been missing for months and then reunited with their owner....He was so excited...Terry did have so much to tell me about Nick but Scout wanted his attention...Nick is already at his new base in Texas but will have more freedom and his phone...But, the pictures Terry showed me are unbelievable...My little Nick is a man, a very handsome man in a uniform...If he does get to N. Carolina, I'm sure I'll take a ride....
I was thinking I was going to have a "nothing" day but not happening...I worked really hard yesterday, trimming a tree, weed whacking, laundry and cleaning and today I'm feeling it...But, my sister called and asked if I'd come up and spend the night tonight...She's really doing good, going upstairs to sleep but is just a little afraid to be alone at night...So, with a promise of left over stuffed meat loaf, I told her I'd be there....AND this weekend, I'm going with her, and some of the family, to their hunting camp up north...We'll be leaving on Friday and then getting back late on Monday...She feels she'll have no problem because it's all on 1 floor and she'll have lots of help....From what I hear, they eat out and play cards so I'm up for that.... Next week I'll be back to pet sitting. Dan and Casey are headed for Aruba so I get to spoil their fur babies....
And 1 last thing, my friend, Virginia, in Florida just lost her youngest son...She's been telling me how sick he had been (cancer) but you just never are ready...He lived up here and she knew she wasn't able to come up...I didn't go for the visiting, I wanted to remember him as he was years ago when Virginia and her DH, Bob would come up for the summer and stay with him and we'd all get together and play cards....He was only 65, way too young....
Here I've written another novel, didn't mean to....My dinner will be meat loaf and anything else she might have left over....
You all have a good day....
Happy eating...............
